  • Join me as I drive Collada de Toses in Spain. Perhaps the best driving road in the world. I am on a drive tour of the Pyrenees with 12 supercars from GTTourz. This is a very special road so I just let the cameras role. Sit back and enjoy over 30 minutes of driving at pace with just 2 overtakes. A sensational road !

    after finishing the video, I wanted to say 3 things without editing my first comment:
    1. there are a lot of roads like these in the Balkans/Eastern Europe, up until Croatia; Spain though looks to be the savior of driving roads for Western Europe in the Summer!(in the Alps, there is such a crowd from early June until September, you can't really drive anymore unless it 6AM or 6-7-8PM.
    2. Americans would die of shock if they would see such roads, without a continuous lane separator; there isn't such a thing in 'murica.
    3. the guy or gal in the ferrari took multiple wide approaches into turns with zero reasons; honestly, the speed didn't require most of their outside-inside approach.

    Hi Ped
    Superb roads & scenery, what’s not to enjoy? Having many km over the years in France, Spain & Portugal, I do think that rural Spain has so much to offer. I did join an organised group tour, some years ago, so no radios, but as a personal preference I prefer solo. You are solely responsible and not reliant on TP info, and in my humble opinion there is more satisfaction. Not wishing to criticise organised tours but it comes down to personal preference.😉

I still say you made a great choice in sports cars to pick up that GTS in such a nice spec and when the bug hits you to trade it in for something else, think twice. Having just driven the old military road through the Cairngorms past the ski centres etc early morning ok under a blue sky this seems rather tame . Done a good few road trips with friends sometimes in convoys of 17 Cars and this road reminds me of the roads we use to get to the good roads 😂👍 Still looks fun mind and sensibly driven. I have friends who only see cars as a A to B and the thought of driving for pleasure a mystery and I always think really you don’t get that tingle of enjoyment and excitement on great roads. Mind I have a friend who doesn’t get scenery either 😂 shrugs “ it hills and things”

    What I don't get PP is, "we have radio's to allow us to communicate and cut the corners a little bit more"
    I ask. Why do vloggers do these long trips to the mountains only to cut the corners to 'straighten' the road? All whilst going slow, that is, it's not a hill climb against the clock, so why not try to stick the the corners and maximise the experience of changing gears, braking, cornering, etc. That's what it's all about! I just don't get it. I travel all over the world looking for the best cornering roads, but stick mostly to my side. When I used to hillclimb, or race sure, cut as many corners as possible. It's not aimed at you PP, just asking as I see many UK vloggers do this.

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  3 месяца назад +1

      Straightening to corner helps smooth the drive and is actually recommended by most advanced driving groups. Each to their own though 👍

      @911aircooled5 3 месяца назад +1

      @@HQBProductions "best line of sight"? well you wouldn't need a radio then! The roads are not a race track, and one can have more fun cornering within the road limits (safety for all, inc bike riders and cows). No I am not a member of IAM (?) or any UK club, but I do have 40 odd years of racing and track experience, inc EU. But I do respect Pete and his uploads, unlike many UK vloggers, hence he is the ONLY one that I subscribe too. Pete's reply is true it smooths out the corners (for the passenger), but I am in it to drive with full engagement, 3 pedals and all!

    • @HQBProductions
      @HQBProductions 3 месяца назад

      @@911aircooled5 Using line of sight doesn’t mean you have to drive as in a Hillclimb or race…that works on closed roads but you can use all of the space in your designated lane and sometimes transgress the centre line. Personally, these convoy driving tours are not for me..I absolutely hate the idea of a bunch of people all thinking they are Ayrton Senna III swerving through a load of bends in second gear for miles. I recall being in a Minivan in 1969 with a friend and his “mates” showing off on roundabouts and taking 30 mph limits as a mission to get to an indicated 70….i said nothing which upset them more. Two weeks later, disaster and I’m the only one left alive. I hate being a passenger now. However, please try not to poor scorn on automatic drivers…..it might not be their choice either.

    Good video as usual but I'm not sure if the Spanish police would agree with the assessment that this is safe because you have a lead car with a radio. There are several times where the car in front only just gets back in, in time to avoid on-coming traffic, including bikes, so a bit too risky I would say.

    Taking liberties on road positioning especially on lh bends. Even on a right hander an oncoming had to almost stop to give way to the car in front of PP. Those walkie talkies are giving a false sense of security.

    Why do Europeans simply ignore lane markings? Seems like a dangerous practice as evidenced by the oncoming traffic around blind corners. Secondarily it seems contrary to the idea of having a car that is good in the corners... why would you intentionally remove the curves?... We get a ticket for that in the states....
    If it's simply because the lanes are more narrow, I say, see my second point. Enjoy the curves my man!

      As I explain in the video. We have a lead car that is adhering to all lane markings. He is calling the road clear and warning of oncoming traffic. We are then able to utilise the whole road while still taking caution.
      The advanced driver programs I have completed all encourage straightening corners out when safe to do so. It unsettles the car less and delivers a smoother drive 👍

    I had to pause and say "a really nice road", and I've been on a few around Europe; the minus is, ffs, automatic sports cars...such a let down I almost cut on watching content that present sports cars with automatic gearboxes; there is no excuse, none what so ever!

    • @DontPanicDear
      @DontPanicDear 3 месяца назад +3

      The excuse, is that nobody will buy manual sports cars / supercars in any volume.
      90% of people who do drive manual, can’t do it well enough to enjoy driving fast.
      A PDK is a revelation to most Porsche buyers, as they just don’t realise how good the cars are, once the gear changes are dealt with competently.

    • @eugenux
      @eugenux 3 месяца назад +6

      @@DontPanicDear no, sorry, that isn't an excuse; driving, like anything, is a skill that improves with time and with practice; honestly, the PDKs could come without paddles as most of the drivers don't use them anyway.
      just learn how to actually drive, to really drive!; h&t-ing isn't rocket science, it isn't quantum physics..it just requires a little bit of practice; if you are using your sports/super car as a daily(although, who in their right minds would do such a thing) and sit in traffic for hours, sure..I can understand but, the reality is, these cars are weekends and holidays toys, nothing more!, and so, why someone(most?) would deprive himself(themselves) of the whole experience just for some childish fantasies of being a racing driver...which A. you/me/and most are not and B. their flappy paddle gearboxes are different than the dual clutches in most sports/super-cars. I think, most of us, would benefit from a reality check, put an emphasis on the experience and let the ego aside because...if you are driving a sports/super car to show that you have a bigger one than the rest, I have some news flash for you: any grandma with zero skill in an SUV EV will put you in your place instantly; because, those EVs require even less skill to be driven; choose the right path and actually drive as driving should be done...by practicing and then enjoying the results of your set of skills.

    • @HQBProductions
      @HQBProductions 3 месяца назад +3

      What an unpleasant and thoughtless comment. There are those of us who have had circumstances that mean we cannot drive a manual car…it happened to me overnight in 2002 and whilst I recovered it took a good 2-3 years and then has made me more used to automatic gearboxes. I understand your liking for manual…however I think it is a greatly flawed method and recall that the original engineer who designed the manual gear change said that “ It is crude but it works and will do until I find something else….”. May I say that sometimes we need to think just a little more before typing…what is perfect for you may not be what others like or have to have…..and remember that modern automatics are vastly more capable than most drivers despite what some people believe are their abilities. Enjoy your car but don’t criticise others who may or may not have your choice.
