Hi Ann,the thing we have noticed about our chicken is that they choose what to eat in terms of greens and if they don't eat we conclude it either poisonous or has no nutrition value to the chicken.They guide us well.
With regards to free ranging I'd like to know are the birds able to gain the required weight as compared to the ones raised in captivity, I'd like to do free range

This is Good ,, I sometimes feed my chicken on fermented feeds,, at farming with joshe....
Fermented feeds are also very good...they are easy to digest.

The truth is the ones raised in captivity gain weight faster coz in free range they use energy foraging but free range ones taste better for sure.
But also if you feed the free range ones before letting them out it can help with the weight gain.

It's sorghum flour...I think it's similar with(wishwa was mahindi) just grains ndio tofauti.
