It is hard to get in the Irish team if you do not play for Leinster, came through the Leinster academy or are a kiwi. In large part to do with the fact Leinster have incredible talent and depth and Farrell wants to play the Leinster way. Lowry, Hume, McCloskey and Timoney are all good players but are all up against top players in Keenan, Ringrose, Henshaw and Van der Flier. The glaring omission is Cooney, easily the best 9 in Ireland.

Really strange decision about the last Ulster's try. The pass was clearly foreward. The first decision was the good one, how can video refere add a mistake....

I don't follow club rugby these days but wouldn't they have gotten a bonus point if they'd scored a try at the end - finishing within four points - instead of kicking the pen?
You only have to finish within 7 to get a bonus point. Kicking the pen took them to 4 off Ulsters total so that got them the losing BP. They'd only scored 2 tries so it was the only way to get the BP.
That referee had a big impact on who wan the match, not by stealing it from Clermont, but by little touches, almost discreetly as British ref know so well to do for French team… a disgrace!
You want to check Irish sides win record when Barnes is reffing it's not pretty. He refs as he sees it. It just took Irish sides a while to get used to his breakdown interpretation.
As a Munster fan I’ve got 2 things to say: well done ulster glad ye won and well done JJ glad to see you’re doing well in France
Amazing what you used to be able to get away with before all the cameras and TMO. I was sure that was an Ulster knock on until we saw the slo-mo.
Well done Ulster! Great win on the road. As a Leinster fan, I know from first-hand experience hard it is to gain a win in the Stade Marcel Michelin.
Yes but clermont’s team is bader than 4 or 5 years ago …
That tip tackle on Balacoune should’ve been a red
McCloskey's hands for that Hume break are so good. Such a pity his talents aren't recognised outside of Ireland.
Outside of Ulster you mean. IRFU don't recognise his talents
What a game by Penaud despite the fact that Clermont lose !

you do not need possession when scoring a try, only downward pressure, which Penaud has.
