I wasn't taught about Inflation until 10 years ago. I learned that my wages have to keep up with inflation. Becoming an independent contractor allowed me to do that. I give myself a raise every 2 years. There have been times when we have to Cut Back but im used to it and prepared.
No it's Americans living above means for years robbing Peter to pay Paul putting wants over needs. Well the chickens have come home to roost and they're screwed now
This started wayyyyyyyyyyyyy before the pandemic. My opinion, it began in the 60s, during the Vietnam War. We never recovered fully, then War on Terror/911. American spending TRILLIONS on War - has a cost. And the people always pay!
If companies won’t offer better pay or benefits (or even hire-instead of just playing "ghosting" games with job openings), then let robots take over. We’re done working for devalued money that feels like board game cash in this inflated market. Employers' money doesn’t motivate anymore-let the robots do it all. Work just isn’t worth the squeeze anymore. According to the latest stats, many Americans are now officially paying to work-crazy as it seems. They’re going into debt because their pay isn’t covering basic expenses such as housing, GAS, and food.
You are telling the TRUTH about paying to work. I had to quit an additional job (note, I said additional, not second, because I had three jobs at the time), because the cost of my commute between job #1 and job #2 wasn't being covered by what I EARNED. I could have taken a cheaper form, like public transit, but then I wouldn't have gotten there on time 😞😞. Even when you try getting other jobs, you're just applying to ghost listings. I literally screenshotted a LinkedIn email about my application statuses. One on top said it was no longer accepting applications. One at the bottom was for the same exact company, with the same exact position- it was hiring. SMH
@@casualeann I’m sorry this has been your lived experience. Truly. More people need to realize we’re accommodating employers far too much-working just to get by or going into debt for a job is unacceptable. They profit not just from our skills and time, but from our desperation, too. Employers are gaming the system with ghost jobs (to make job seekers more desperate and more willing to accept lowball offers), and landlords inflate rents through apps like RealPage. This greed and theft of people's livelihoods must be called out, and they should face *real* consequences where it hurts: their wallets. Take heart-some in power are trying to help, but they need our support. Boycott toxic companies (don't buy their goods or services) and avoid even applying to jobs that you truly don’t believe in. It’s time for us to stand together, or we will lose. What does this look like? If you're on unemployment, apply to the bare minimum jobs required to keep your benefits. If you're employed and passively job hunting, consider not showing up to interviews-let them *feel* your lack of interest. If enough people do this, it will eventually waste companies’ time and resources. Remember, employers will replace us with automation or offshore work without hesitation. So be picky af about who you ultimately choose to invest your skills and precious time on earth with. Also, remember, everyday people hold true power, as consumers (who companies need to live) prefer to buy local and from people they trust-not from emotionless robots or companies that layoff thousands. . . right before the holidays.
Girl. Im in my car at the repair ship dropping it off for the 6th time this year. I pay so much for it and have to uber to work. I had to use my credit card for these payments. Im so broke and sad right now especially since they upped my rent. They done did us wrong. 😭
What kind of car is it? Might consider trading it in to get a more reliable vehicle….if that’s an option for you. I know car trouble can be a pain….wishing you good luck.
