You got lucky with how clean your drums and all the components inside were. You were able to unscrew your brake line from the wheel cylinder without a problem. I am in the process of doing mine right now on my 2003 ranger and my passenger side was turning the brake line when I tried to loosen the nut so I had to finess the cylinder out with the brake line attached in order to be able to turn the wheel cylinder and keep the brake line nut stationary so that I didn’t destroy my brake line. That was a pain in the neck

Hi Jason...yuck. That sounds like a real problem. I was indeed very lucky. I've seen Derek on Vice Grip Garage remove things with multiple applications of penetrating oils and heat (especially at the master) but so far, I've not had to resort to that. It'll happen!
Good luck with your project and thanks for commenting. -Dan
