Just a small correction, but unless I'm mistaken, simply holding Staff of Loss in your offhand (or one in each hand) is enough to make Night Comet blatantly better in damage than other Comet spells. If I am mistaken, then I know it's at least a very small difference and double Staves of Loss beats other comets for sure.
Been testing this last couple days. Comet outdamages Night Comet with Carian Royal Scepter mainhand and Staff of Loss offhand (at 68 int), albeit very slightly. Double SoL would definitely outdamage by a sizeable margin.
@@mmmomomomo Yep, thank you. I remembered one of the two very barely outdamages the other, but forgot which. It's such a tiny amount that the added benefit of enemies not dodging/detecting Night Comet is 100% worth the loss in damage, because a single dodged hit absolutely dwarves the tiny gap in damage between the two.
I know that I often hear the staff’s scaling will generally overpower any staff buffs. So I would assume you maybe don’t want double staves of loss and to instead use whatever has your highest scaling. I just wish they’d give us a general idea how much scaling you need to beat out a buff.
@@monhi64 just multiply the spell scaling with the spell buff percentage to see if its higher. pretty sure staff of loss has 30% which is higher than most other staff buffs.
Great Glintstone shard is better than pebble imo. It uses 5 more fp but does considerably more damage and has more range. At end game it is the better option.
Agree with most of the list. Only changes I'd make is putting Stars of Ruin in A tier and Ancient Death Rancor in S tier. Stars of Ruin does more damage and has better homing than Comet though has more fp cost. Ancient Death Rancor with the buff it got in 1.07 makes it insane. Does good damage, can stunlock a majority of enemies in the game, insane range, and has the best homing projectiles in the game making it very reliable. It's the second best spell behind Rock Sling for stance breaking at range. You'll easily beat most bosses in the game with this spell alone.
Thanks Youwy for leaving little bookmarks of information for years to come! I was looking into the oracle bubbles spell. Kinda trying to figure out what would be an "optimized" build for wretch at 150 in the DLC, and man... It's hard to find use for arcane + intel + faith in one singular build lol, that's the real challenge. Needed to find out how good oracle bubbles is, as someone who was turned off by magic since it ranged from basic blue shit to 1 shot boss blue shit and nothing but blue shit. Did not know anything about oracle bubbles, but you told me you talked about it in your 10 worst sorceries video. So here I go to find out truly how the spell is! Thanks again. I'm high, thats why I comment like this...
Same i dont understand why this spell gets a bad rep. If you posture break a big boss, get right under them and pop a charged version and it does insane damage.
I don't blame you for putting roiling magma so low since that is the common consensus and i have never seen it used "correctly" by anyone else either but here me out, I belive that the is very, very, very easily S tier, the fact that the explosion is delayed and that it attracts enemies (both humanoids and beasts) is actually a colossal bonus when playing stealth, you can throw multiple of them and one shot moltiple enemies even if you are under leveled, you can couple it with other AOE spells and since hit all the enemies bunched up and bacically onesot them because the hits are simultaneous (the new black hole spell is great for that), with invisibility you can throw the spell attract a group of enemies to it and if there is on slightly far away you can get a free backstab, in all these cases you killed a bunch of enemies before even receiving aggro so you are 100% safe, but it's not just absurdly broken against groups of enemies but it's straight up also optimal against single though enemies, since the explosion is delayed and the enemy doesn't aggro you until the thing explodes it's as if every enemy in the game started with less hp and posture, roiling magma with a triple big glint stone sword (forgot the name) into rock sling as the magma is about to explode into jump attack right after is a guaranteed stun and "oneshot" (all your shit hits almost simultaneously so it's almost a oneshot) on the vast majority of tough enemies in the game. Naturally invisibility has a great sinergy with this spell, although it's not always necessary so I would only make it jump one tier maybe 2 being generous, but still roiling magma is for me the single best spell in the game for safely clearing areas and it's not even close, although its extremely poor performance against bosses puts it below the superior versatility of carian slicer and comet
Have your opinion on the Stars or Ruin spell tree changed recently with the new DLC, for endgame / DLC content ? I feel like it trivialize boss fights where I have a hard time with a comet build, mainly due to correctly timing / aiming the spells. I'm also going full Lusat (head plus staff) with 60 mind and maxed out flasks, so at this point FP is not a problem anymore.

Yeah I'd personally put it in A-tier at a minimum for it's unique utility alone. It can zone off areas in PvP, and in PvE, it's great as a "fire and forget" spell against tankier enemies like Miranda Flowers. You indirectly can conserve A LOT of FP just by carrying this spell.

Crystal Torrent is superior to Azur, much more consistent, and costs only 1 slot.
