I just painted my tools but you can oil them aswell. Rape seed oil, vegetable oil and wood oil would all work well to prevent rust. Let it soak for a while and wipe it off.
The Loctite brand rust remover can work very quickly, often less than one hour. The label says something about drying and protecting the metal to prevent new rust. Vinegar or soda are probably better options for kitchen items that have contact with food.
Thank you for making this video. I bought the product and wanted to see how it works before I used it on the metal cat cage doors. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this.
thanks for doing the comparison! I already bought a bunch of Coke to use on an anvil. Hope it works, as I started it last night. I opted for Coke as I have small children and avoid having heavily corrosive products at the house if at all possible. Other videos for the vinegar clean required a baking soda scrub after soaking in vinegar, which is why I opted for Coke.
Coat your tools with coconut oil and they won’t rust,. I moved to Southern Alabama and found that the air has a high moisture all of the time, I am in process of restoration of derusting a lot of my father-in-lat farm tools including all of the hand tools that are heavily rusted. Thank You 🙏 for your video.
it is called naval jelly, not Loctite, Loctite is the name of the brand of the company who manufactures it. Might make that correction ... Loctite mostly makes glue... hence the maunfacturers name... Good simple testing!!!!
Maybe you should of got a tool out of the chemical that you were using then scrub the tools, dip in water to get the rust off of tool that came loose then dip back in the chemical you were using scrub more then dip in water to clean then repeat till you get as much rust as you can. That is the way I do it and it works great!! GREAT video. :-)
Kleenstrip is by far the best as its equal to loctite but 19 a gallon vs 35 for a small bottle. Just shop around and dont get high jacked. As to vinigar ALWAYS follow up with a quick bath in water and baking soda to counteract the rusting chemicals as the metal WILL rerust even worse than before. Then coat in a nice oil of your choice to preserve.
Thanx dude, I’m trying the distilled white vinegar thing at the mo, but as I’ve got shit loads of rusty neglected tools, I’m gonna delve into the loctite tub for the more knarlier rusted tools, so.........thanx good vid, you’ve got my vote

Thats very true and something I didn’t entirely consider. Definitely depends which application. If you need to derust your frame, using Corroseal is a great way to do that.
@@paulmaxwell8851 That's because they're supposed to be using just water with baking soda, or salt and lime juice. Though... vinegar in itself is better, methinks. Though, I wouldn't be covering the buckets (or whatever) with a lid. Give them air to breathe.
Easy off oven cleaner. My dad uses lye on cast iron he collects and I’ve tried Wd 40 but I wasn’t too impressed but maybe I didn’t leave it on long enough. WD 40 can be pricey if you’re doing a lot too. Lastly, elbow grease
I’m no expert in rust removal, but I would first try to apply the jelly product on the ladder and wire brush all the rust off after it sits for a while. I wish you luck!
Is that what you call music, or just irritating noise designed to induce a headache and a panic attack? Seriously tho, I do appreciate your experiment and the effort you put into this video. Much love, Uncle Jerry

@@AutoMotivate Umm.. Take that comment with a grain of salt, because everyone has heard that Alan Walker song on the radio by now. "Trust me", it does make for a good background music to kill the silence.

Coke is pretty awesome and cheap! Be sure you look for some type of rust resistant coding afterwards!

IMHO I agree the loctite is far superior, I think Naval Jelly would work as well.

Will this work on car rust?
Your better off cutting the rust off, weld a new piece in, sand it in flat, primer and paint
In my country, "Loctite" is a cyanoacrylate adhesive instead of jelly rust remover
Good video keep it up! 👍
5:35 you placed the most rusted ones in Coke and the least rusted in the Loctite. Is this a promotion for Loctite?
Mike could you make a impartial vídeo ?

My question. Is generic cola as good as coke? Or is it a reasonably good substitute? I ask because it’s half the price.

what's in coke do your science guys -> use bicarb soda 😳 & vinegar work great
bicarb soda also used with a current to anodize certain alloy metal
YOU do your science! Active ingredient in coke is phosphoric acid.
Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and vinegar react to create ordinary salt water. Many people fail to understand this.
