Ah I love everything about this video. Science-based and preaching kindness to skin is so important, especially when marketing all around us tells us to buy more actives at higher concentrations.
Kelly, I really appreciate you for talking about this. I over exfoliated my skin for 2 years straight without knowing it and my skin turned into a mess and at that time, there were almost no information about overexfoliating so it was hard for me to find out the cause and even harder to stop exfoliating because EVERYONE said chemical exfoliation was the best thing that happened to them, it was like an addiction. After all the struggle, I stopped exfoliation completely for 1 year and a half!! that made all the change, and vaseline too! (my saviour!). Even nowadays I feel many people are overexfoliating without thinking about the terrible consequences (I live in Perú and here, chemical exfoliating is at it's pick). I really hope this information reaches as many people as possible. Thank you!!! pd: sorry if my english is not correct!! :(
Thanks for creating this opportunity to meet Alli, I started watching but held off untill my Stratia products finally arrived (Covid mail) they have and I now have renewed enthusiasm, what a wonderful woman.
I introduced four different products at one time and of course had a reaction and then over did the chemical exfoliation. I have done everything you taught me and stopped the actives and focused on moisture. My skin is starting to heal; thank you for teaching me how to take care of myself. This is knowledge I will pass down to my future children at a young age. I have learned so much from you and wish all of this information was taught ages ago.
YESSSSSS QUEEN. I scared my dog clapping for Aquaphor because it’s literally my hero. When I do too much I LOVE that I can use it as my reset button. I think it’s time to get on the Stratia train.
And even years after liquid gold came out there still isn't any affordable products on the market that are similar. Around two years ago I ordered liquid gold despite the fact that I live in Europe, and shipping from the US is expensive, and my skin never looked as good as it did while I used it. I've tried so many products on the European market that on paper look similar ingredient wise but none of them were as hydrating, light weight and moisturising as liquid gold, several of them broke me out and the ones that didn't the results were just kind of meh. I really wish the products lasted more than a year after purchasing them, or that they were good for like 6-12 months after you first use it, or that they had a retailer in Europe, because if I want free shipping I need to buy six bottles of liquid gold but I can't use up all of them before they'd expire :-( Edit: I also want to add that Alli is such a sweetheart, I wish I could afford supporting the brand
I know, sometimes people ask me for alternatives and I can't really give any as it's pretty unique (which is a bit of a shame since MB health is just so dang important). I hope Stratia is able to expand in the next couple of years (it's very difficult for small brands) I'm sure they'd love to be more accessible globally!
OH! So the products need to be used within a year of purchase, not opening? I've never tried Stratia, but I am now so this is good to know. Do you know how long it lasts after opening? Like the number in the little open container symbol on the package?
I live in Europe too and I'm very hesitant to order because of shipping fees and taxes... were you charged taxes and additional costs upon accepting the package when it arrived ?
Mango Magik - Well I live in Sweden and you have to pay import tax here for any package that arrives from outside of Europe, though back when I ordered from Stratia two years ago they would mark the total cost of goods for all orders as $15, but if I were you I'd message them just to see if they still do this
I received an order yesterday - their new packaging says the Velvet Cleansing Milk and C+C Serum is good up to 12 months after opening. Hope that helps!
Greatly informative! Two smart women with beautiful skin helping us figure out what it takes to improve our own skin barrier. Thank you Kelly for setting up this interview and thank you Alli!
Thank you kelly, this is sooo informative💕something that really helped my moisture barrier is just using a more nourishing sleeping mask at night over my moisturiser.
Great video. What a lovely woman Alli is. The timing was perfect as I sit here with my very reactive, stinging skin. I am going to box up everything in my collection that could be damaging my barrier and stick to very gentle, loving products for a while. A stratia order is on the cards! Thank you x
That still happens to me to this day where l’ll Use something and the product will make my skin tingle or burn and then I know I’ve gone overboard with my retina or I’m washing to much. Paige Mylchreest what? Only 1 week?! That’s awesome! Need to order it alongside Fortify and Night Shift! The shipping is $14 but oh well, it is worth it!
Great video, I think I either sensitized my eyelids or damaged the skin barrier on my eyelids. Learned the hard way. Definitely stepping out of vitamin c, retinol and eye cream with essential oils for a while. I was honestly just trying to finish this eyecream and be done with the essential oil business but my eyes could not take it any more. My eyelids are red, flacky and itchy. Right now keeping away from almost any skincare for one week at least and hydrating my eyelids with just aquafor. They are doing better but I know that I will have to stop using any skincare on eyelids for a long time. Yes aquafor is a life saver, redness has gone down, so has itchiness. Dont know about flackyness though because I keep my eyelids very hydrated. So yes, caring for the skin barrier is a must and reducing the amount pf product we use at a time is also a must for me. I am not an influencer but I acted like one in the sense of "i have to try everything" and apply as many products on my face as I can per routine. Big big no. Am going to be more careful and listen to my skin more. Very useful video, thnks.
Hi Kelly and Alli - are there any plans to make it available in the UK? I would love to try it, but international shipping is expensive and takes a long time to arrive. Best wishes.
I love Stratia Liquid Gold!!! I messed up my barrier About two months ago after a 20% TCA peel. The Liquid Gold helped soo much to replenish my skin. I used the Cerave Skin Renewing Night Cream which is another favorite for the skin barrier. I would say Liquid Gold for day and the Cerave at night. Win, win!!!
I use Aquaphor as my eye cream too. It saved my skin so much! I am not using any actives right now. I am using a thicker cream at night. I am also using Tamanu oil when I need extra help. Skin is slowly coming back to normal but it will be a while before I can do any fun stuff. Thanks for this video and letting us hear all of this. Cheers.
I am a fan of Stratia and Alli. I am so glad that a found this brand two years ago when I started tret. Many people on Reddit in tretinoin sub said that Liquid Gold is Holy Grail for them and it is absolutely the same for me too. I love Velvet cleansing but Liquid Gold is my saver. Alli thank you so much from me and my skin! And Kelly thank you that you share your experience.
For me Extremely dry eczema prone skin, cold water showers and exercise to sweat to increase sebum production. I messed up my barrier because I used a water filter that made the water go to the basic/ higher PH side.
My top tips is really just cut out everything except (sometimes a calming toner) a calming serum and calming moisturiser. Also, it's the theme of what I've been using recently 😅
Hi Kelly, I loved this video! I have a question. Do you think hard water has an effect on the moisture barrier? Because I feel like I do everything right and my skin definitely feels way better than before. (thanks to you!) But I still feel like my barrier is always a bit damaged. The water in my apartment is very hard. Do you have any experience with this? I would love to know!

I don’t know if it was a mix with sunscreen and my acids as I really have weened out all fragrances and essential oils in my skin care routine. However my eyes are so open to things that will work. Since I have healed my skin this last month I look at my drunk elephant and wonder are you helping or did you play a part. Help me lol. And thank you for being honest. Not sure if this is still helpful, but I've recently come across Paula's Choice Omega+ Complex Moisturiser. I've not used it yet but it comes recommended by dermatologist, Dr Alexis Stephens and skincare bloggers. It has fatty acids, ceramides and cholesterol in it but I'm not sure if it's at the 'golden ratio' Alli and Kelly discuss in the video but should be a great alternative for barrier repair / preservation. PC do a trial size so you can try it out and see if it agrees with your skin before committing to a bigger size. Hope that helps :)

I did start trying the liquid gold based on your recommendation because I have been struggling with irritation and my moisture barrier for months and I cannot seem to heal it. I think it started with a intense peel but I can never seem to get it all the way back to good. I know I have definitely tried to many different products to heal it and that that didn’t help but even when I’ve tried minimizing for a couple of weeks I see absolutely no improvement. I have tried pulling things out of my routine because I thought they might be the source of the irritation but even with a very minimal skin care routine it just doesn’t improve. I have thought that maybe the liquid gold was part of the problem when I went to put it on one day and it burned and stung my irritated areas. Is that a sign that a product is actually contributing to irritation or is that some thing where I should keep using it and push through and assume that it is not causing the original irritation and will help to heal it eventually?
So I'm not either one of these lovely ladies, but I have finally managed to repair my moisture barrier so I'd thought I'd let you know what I experienced! Sadly depending on how damaged it is, it won't be healed with just a couple weeks of a simple routine. I started cutting back products in the middle of May, and it wasn't until the beginning of August that I really felt like my barrier was healed, no more tight and dry feeling and my oils were a lot more balanced, and I could start incorporating exfoliation and other products again. So just based on what you've mentioned, not seeing a difference, I would guess that you'll have to simplify your routine for a lot longer than a couple weeks. As for Liquid Gold, it did tingle on my face the first few times, but it never really felt like irritation. Even water stung sometimes but Liquid Gold felt very nice on my skin (barring the first time). Maybe there is an ingredient that just doesn't work for you?
Zarinah I don’t know if it’s actually an ingredient in that that is irritating my skin or if it is an ingredient in other things that is and that because my skin was already irritated the liquid gold burned a little bit in those spots. Honestly I was on the simplified routine for a few weeks and it seem like it got worse instead of better sometimes, that’s what is making me question it. I am wondering if it might not be a reaction to phenoxyethanol that is causing it, that is my next test.
It may happen if you need more occlusion that provides Stratia. In cold winter I always use some additional occlusion on top of Stratia or mix something more occlusion with it.
I have never exfoliated but I always feel like my skin is dry and tight but it looks oily around the t zone and drier around the u zone and overall dull !! Should I start incorporating exfoliation in my routine? Ps i also did not use sunscreen in the past so I would get some sunburn and red skin if I exposed myself to the sun for long periods !!
Stratia has Soft touch Aha. I would prefer if this product be more liquid. I don't like how viscosity it is because it more difficult to use with other serum. But I need to admit that it is the most gentle exfoliator I try but it is still effective. I use Soft touch when I cant use another acid product but still need exfoliation. I will buy it again.
To the extent this is still helpful (appreciate you posted five months ago), it sounds to me like your skin is dehydrated. That can be the case where you skin feels dry but is oily on top as the skin is trying to produce oil to over-compensate for the dehydration. I would suggest you include more hydrating products e.g. toners and possibly an essence to create more balance. Kelly has great vids on hydrating toners and you could choose a targeted essence from another of her vids. Hope that helps.
I wish Stratia didn't use Propylene Glycol in their products, many people, including myself, are allergic or sensitive to it, so I can't even try their Liquid Gold :( That's a shame cause the rest of the ingredients are pretty awesome!
@@hannal5512 no worries 😊 oh yeah same haha I live practically a stone's throw away from Antarctica and the shipping rate could be worse. But I know for some people this is exorbitant so 😶

My skin did not like the ordinary niacinamide serum. It was way too strong for me. Made my skin sting and itch.
I hate watching these Stratia videos because I’m DYING to try their products and they’re not available in my country and will probably never be :( ID KILL TO TRY LIQUID GOLD MY Tretinoin skin NEEDS it 😭😭😭
What country do you live in? Do you know anyone from a country that can get that can send it to you?
Amy P and Dirty too I live in India! I do know people in the us but I’m not that close to them so I feel awk asking for a favour 😭 and self shipping is really expensive
@@taytayqueen7024 aww!! That kinda sucks! I know what you mean, tho, if I wasn't close enough with someone I wouldn't feel right asking them something like that. Especially when money is involved. Hopefully it will be available in India someday soon!!😍
Amy P and Dirty too Either that or I’ll be travel to USA/Europe soon and order it myself 😊 dying to try liquid gold!
@@loshmo4860 might be the niacinamide in it. what's your current routine?
@@simplyshama Thank you for taking the time to ask though, very kind of you. 😊
The pomp of my bottle of Soft Touch AHA isn't working since I got it, so I have to open the bottle to be able to use the gel
Where can i buy this in INDIA???
Will she start reformulating the products without formaldehydes anytime soon?
Their Liquid Gold dries my face out! Wish I could use it :(
It may happen if you need more occlusion that provides Stratia. In cold winter I always use some additional occlusion on top of Stratia or mix something more occlusion with it.
Maaonni Thanks, gonna try that! I’ve been trying to add something moisturizing underneath but maybe I just needed to add something occlusive on top.
I mix Liquid Gold with a few drops of their Fortify oil. And I always follow up with a thick occlusive moisturizer on top.
Emily Charlebois I definitely need to try something occlusive on top, thanks!
Will try Stratia at some point. Right now not buying anything, I still have lots on my stash, but stratia is on my wishlist. Thanks
She literally told me about my skin Lol
Welp I'm dehydrated 😂🤣
I wish Stratia didn't use Propylene Glycol in their products, many people, including myself, are allergic or sensitive to it, so I can't even try their Liquid Gold :(
That's a shame cause the rest of the ingredients are pretty awesome!
There I was thinking stratia is Korean😁 Does stratia ship worldwide? I’ve been really itching to try the fortify and liquid gold.
Yes they are! I believe at around $15USD for international shipping though
jbel7510 Thanks, good to know. I’ll check the specifics on their website. Trust me,15$ is reasonable when you live in Finland.
@@hannal5512 no worries 😊 oh yeah same haha I live practically a stone's throw away from Antarctica and the shipping rate could be worse. But I know for some people this is exorbitant so 😶
This video is a Masterclass in skincare. Wow Kelly, thanks for bringing this content!
Will try Stratia at some point. Right now not buying anything, I still have lots on my stash, but stratia is on my wishlist. Thanks
