It’s actually an incredible book. HIGHLY recommend reading it before believing the critics. The relationship between the two women is super romantic and the book offers many pieces of wisdom/insight into female sexuality, sexism, racism, bi-phobia and abortions, just to name a few
@Talitha Warren She's an annoying het woman, what do you expect, the fact that the "twist" annoyed her says it all, thank god i have blocktube so this person doesn't ever appear in my feed ever again
@@Suprachiasmatic she showed his daughter a letter where he said how much he loved her, plus he had been dead for DECADES by then. I don’t see the problem
@@katitax508 well good for you then. I, however, do. Our desires for autonomy don’t end just because we’ve died. Some people want their secrets to die with them and that’s not for anybody to judge. Evelyn took it upon herself to out this dude to his daughter to suit her own agenda, and not only that but now Monique has to live with that secret or out her dad herself and potentially devastate her mom. All for selfish purposes. I see many problems with it.
I felt the same way about Evelyn Hugo, but for me, it was how she handled most things in her life that bothered me. Personally, she seemed so unfeeling to other people around her, and I only got about halfway into the story before DNFing it.
i am sorry but what evelyn did to harrys boyfriend is horrible regardless of skin color. why in earth would him being a POC have held her up from doing it if any other reason couldn’t either?
wow. you addressed something about "The Seven Husbands" that i just completely missed. that ~twist ending~ definitely wasn't great and there was a lot of telling instead of showing going on. i wasn't completely blown away by the book, but i felt like i had to rate it high because everyone RAVED about it. in the end, it was only just okay. tbh, it's a good thing you peaced out of TJR's works there because if you want to talk about a disappointing read, then "Daisy Jones" def takes the cake for me. it's been on so many people's Best of the Year lists and i'm like "???? did we read the same book orrr??". it was just okay. it wasn't mind-blowing or life-changing. it just... exists? idk. sorry about the comment wall, btw. lol
I totally agree about Daisy Jones not really being anything special. It's basically just a stereotypical "sex, drugs, and rock & roll" story. Which I can enjoy, but absolutely nothing about it struck me as being particularly new or exciting.
I love seven husbands but i just can't feel a good connection with the book and why i just don't like the daisy and i think i just can't get married people cheating i just keep feeling bad for camilla , also i think after loving seven husbands n just get my expectation too high
Ugh totally agree on Evelyn Hugo and the spoon fed writing. It all felt so theatrical and contrived, like that’s not how I like my books. In 2020 I’m sooooo looking forward to Blood and Honey, the second book after Serpent and Dove, that was such a good book!!
Thank you for being the only person I’ve seen who didn’t love Evelyn Hugo either, I felt like I was going crazy not feeling the love like everyone else 😅
I've heard SO MUCH about The Seven Husbands and how much people raved about it, I was surprised to see that on your list! But after hearing your points, I definitely understand where you're coming from. Especially with the plot twist, o o f. I am honestly stoked for Liar by Fiona Cole and Credence by Penelope Douglas for this year. I REALLY hope they live up to the hype. :)
I haven’t read Seven Husbands but I wasn’t thrilled with Daisy Jones. When I first read it I think I was enjoying it because the hype around it and then when I put it down and later came back to it I was underwhelmed and found everyone unlikeable but one person so I DNF’d it!
I love your shelves because if I didn't know you I'd think you were gonna talk about A Tale of Two Cities or Grapes of Wrath or some shit but then you come out with the steamy reads
Their talents are actually relevant in Muse of Nightmares. I like my romance light so I was there for the world-building. If you really liked the DoSaB trilogy then maybe read a sneak peek of Muse of Nightmares to see if you would like the rest. It's very character-driven in MoN (I cried at one point, but I might be in the minority on that since it's not for any character that you've met yet) so it's cool to see her explore trauma since it really is reminiscent of WWII type themes but I'm a history nerd so that that as you will. Some weren't a fan of the ending but I love the fairytale like atmosphere so I don't really care.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was literally the best book I've ever read. It dealt with so many important issues which alot of people clearly don't understand. I absolutely love this story and it really is the best thing I've ever read.
If it helps, Muse of Nightmares has a lot more plot than Strange so you might like it more. I also wasn't hugely keen on Evelyn Hugo but I did like Daisy Jones
Thank you for what you said about Evelyn Hugo; honestly, the reveal soured the whole book for me. I also felt like Jenkins completely forgot about Hugo's latina heritage by the end and only focused on her support for LGTBQA+ organizations (which is awesome but then why couldn't she also support Cuban/latinx organizations, too?)
i'm back for strange the dreamer i wasn't expecting the problem of weep to be solved in this one because i knew there was a second book and i figure that's where the solution will happen. i also absolutely adore lazlo x sarai. i thought their romance served as a romeo/juliet dynamic where the conflict and hatred between godspawn & the humans could have been resolved through love but then tragedy struck. strange the dreamer seemed to be more of a set up & examination of the faults of both sides of the war & the hatred that is spurred from war/tragedy and i thought it was highlighted through lazlo/sarai's relationship which made me all the more invested
I felt exactly the same way about the best thing. I've adored everything that Mariana Zapata has written but actually couldn't finish the book, which was hugely disappointing. It just lacked.... Something. I didn't feel like there was much chemistry between the characters, but that might have just been me. Anyway, hopefully her next one is amazing again 😊
Wow, white woman here... I have read three of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s books (something unremarkable, Daisy Jones and Evelyn Hugo). I didn’t like DJ at all, I thought it was problematic but I loved Evelyn Hugo but felt uneasy and I wasn’t sure why but you are absolutely right. I still don’t think it’s a terrible book but yeah it’s problematic too which is why I had that general uneasiness.

Can someone just give me the synopsis (7 husband's) I got bored halfway through, only thing I cared about was why she wanted the interviewer specifically. I got to I think the 3/4 husband so I just want the summary no review or opinion just what's the story?
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff was SO disappointing to me. I’m a Fantasy Bitch ™ and everyone was RAVING about that book and it’s so bad lol. The writing is like a teenage boy’s first attempt at poetry and the story is literally just the same shit as every other story about an assassin teen girl. Thank you, next!
Subscribed! Only because of 1 reason: Haven’t seen the video yet. But I just need to say it: I haven’t read more than a 100 pages of The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo…. because I couldn’t continue, it was so flat and boring. And the cherry on top: Evilyn herself is quite an awful person. So I had to search for a video like this to get some sympathy from likeminded 😂 Everoyone else seem to love it 😳 And I’ll subscribe because you didn’t like this book either… I feel like I can get some great recommendations on this channel :) oh and of course; I like the way you describe books. 🥳

Oof to late but I can just tell you the plot twist and spoil the entire story.
Hated the 7 husbands
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff was SO disappointing to me. I’m a Fantasy Bitch ™ and everyone was RAVING about that book and it’s so bad lol. The writing is like a teenage boy’s first attempt at poetry and the story is literally just the same shit as every other story about an assassin teen girl. Thank you, next!
clicked because of shoeh, and damn do i not get what you're saying. i just simple cannot fathom how it went that way for you.
me watching every video on youtube at 2x speed 😅
Subscribed! Only because of 1 reason:
Haven’t seen the video yet. But I just need to say it: I haven’t read more than a 100 pages of The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo…. because I couldn’t continue, it was so flat and boring. And the cherry on top: Evilyn herself is quite an awful person.
So I had to search for a video like this to get some sympathy from likeminded 😂 Everoyone else seem to love it 😳
And I’ll subscribe because you didn’t like this book either… I feel like I can get some great recommendations on this channel :) oh and of course; I like the way you describe books. 🥳
I seriously felt like something's wrong with me bc I didn't like the seven husbands of evelyn hugo. So I came here looking for similar opinion.
hi
I think l.j Shen wanted to do something like "addicted" and "like us" series but failed miserably.
its latino or latina not latinx
latinx is a gender-neutral neologism. thank you though
HOW CAN YOU SAY SEVEN HUSBANDS IS DISAPPOINTING?? Frankly I’m disappointed in you
lol
Do you normally speak at x1.5😂? No need to play the video faster.
"Latinx" 😂😂😂
Imagine saying "Africanx", "Americanx", "Europeanx", "Asianx". Oh gawd...
Please read some of jo Watson’s books!
