  • Holi Festival is a festival of colors. It is celebrated in the month of March, mainly for 2 days. The first day is celebrated in the hilly region, where as the second day is celebrated in the Terai region (plain land), close to India.
People gather in parks and open areas, throw colors to the participants along with water. It has its mythical touch with Hindu religion. When Hiranyakasyapu tried to kill his son Pralhad with the help of his daughter- Holika, Pralhad receives blessing from Lord Visnu and he survived from fire, where as Holika is burnt.
Every year, there will be a massive celebration in various towns of Kathmandu, Pokhara and major cities. If you are in Kathmandu, the best place to celebrate Holi is Thamel and Kathmandu Durbar Square.
