I'm mainly a guitarist who barely play the keys, but I always return to this channel just to listen to your beautiful playing. Solid knowledge of harmony which you incorporate so effortlessly in your improvisations, to say the least!
I'm also in the same position of being a guitarist and playing a bit keys, I will also be doing this ig. Good playing man. I wish I could play piano like this. Would noodle all day.
Same!! I've played guitar for my whole life but just recently started to get into loving the piano :) This man inspires the hell out of me to learn...and to get keyscape haha
Man. I don't think people can appreciate how ridiculously good you are. I've been through the whole UK piano grading system, played in bands, been around great pianists - the lot, for basically the whole of my (admittedly short) life. Your playing is without doubt some of the smoothest, most melodic, subtle, tasteful and just generally pleasing music I've ever listened to, coming from any instrument. World class. If you ever find yourself in the UK, I'd love to buy you a beer and pick your brain. Oh and the new felt piano in Keyscape - simply chef's kiss. Everyone should have this VST.
I concur. I just love to hear you play. I don't need to know about the plugin stuff as I already do, haha. Are you ever down for possible collaboration? Would love to talk to you more!
Everyone loves to improve. Or learn 5 progressions to implement in your own piano playing. I get it. But sometimes, you don't want to be stuck to listening to sheer piano playing with a voiceover with catchy scripting, full of sponsors and hours worth of editing. You just want to be able to feel the piano. And that seems like the hardest of content to find. This channel seems to be one of those rare occurences and for that, I thank you. Please continue what you're doing... New favorite channel.
Hahaha, yeah I don't have time to write scripts and spend hours of editing. Maybe one day I'll be able to pay someone to edit videos, but the whole scripting stuff is not my vibe.
I support this comment 100%!! I feel like many demos are just too edited and don't get a complete impression of what is created actually sounds like. Those are more like reading through a product magazine where you get a simple guide to what's in there. But this is something different, like you're paying a visit to a physical store and gets a little live demo of it, and you're getting so much more insight to it all that way imo.

@Leia Eh, Pianoteq is my favorite for playability, by far. Timbre is better in v8 than it has been in the past. I agree Noire and KeyScape felts sound fantastic, but I wouldn't say Pianoteq is tiers below. Pianoteq lets you map literally every aspect of the physical model to some kind of controller (pedals, knobs, faders, etc) so you can change the sound in real time and smoothly morph between wildly different sounds.
@Leia Yeah, the size is great. I pair a Yamaha CP88 with a Hydrasynth Explorer. CP88 has nice action and it will take up to 4 pedals. I always have an expression pedal mapped to Celeste, mod lever/strip mapped to felt thickness, and another continuous pedal to do graded pinch harmonics. Other parameters I usually control from the Hydra, it has assignable scribble strips to map to whatever params I'm playing with at the time. It's also really nice for polyphonic aftertouch (can be fun with any of the Pteq patches, but it's really well suited to the guitar).
the room noise on keyscape is really nice when you aren't using too much processing but for anyone who is heavily compressing their piano or using lots of saturation, it really gets in the way... hammer and waves sounds amazingly warm to me and the samples are super clean
I never knew the name for this kind of sound coming from a piano, and I am glad I finally learned what it is. If you have a 1 hour video I'll definitely listen to it on repeat all day
Tip: for one of my recordings I used the deep/sub octave reverb (don't recall the exact name) on 100% wet and layered the dry sound of the Spitfire Intimate Grand on top. It gives an incredibly deep sound! It's my cover of Johannes Bornlof - As I Dream.
Some beautiful playing - lovely chords and melodies. I haven't downloaded this update yet. I really should use Omnisphere and Keyscape more. Sounds amazing.
Very subtle sounds and your touch is something I have to study. Coming from a gospel piano background I need to soften my approach to piano playing. New subscriber.
I own Keyscape and really appreciate them adding felt for free. BUT... The piano (regular grand or the felt) have so much bass that you have to high-pass it up to 200 hz to get them to fit into a mix with other instruments. I am glad they added the felt, but I wish they would offer an acoustic piano that is ready to play in a mix. I'd like a preset (preferably new samples) to get a Lyle Mays acoustic sound or maybe Joe Sample or even Greg Karukas. Something bright, detailed and full.
I wish you could adjust the amount of felt vs the tone of the piano on this patch, I’ve found it to be slightly muddy to use in a lot of mixes, it does work extremely well layered with instruments - especially nylon sky Love the playing and demo!!
Picked up Keyscape almost a year ago, but only had the chance to try it about a month ago. "Some" of the stuff is amazing, but it's not my favorite for Piano. This one sounds like it has "promise", Felt Piano does have a very distinct tone and I look forward to trying this myself! So happy it's a FREE update too!
@@SamTheBeardGuy Different sounds for different reasons. My favorite for many years was Ivory, then the Ivory New York grand. Still a hard one to beat, for me. The 'surprising' one for me is the Upright in EZ Keys. I didn't expect it to inspire me so much, but it did. I also remember enjoying the Alicia Keys plug in, but re-visited it a while back and it didn't hold up (for me). Even though many people swear by PianoTeq, I've never quite been able to embrace it. Just has something "off" about it. IRL, I play my Estonia L168 and that's hard to compete with in the 'virtual' world ;)
i was gonna say you could film an hour of playing and i would listen end to end, but checked your chanel and you already did it. i'ma be busy in the next days

Thanks!!
Ohhhh woowwwwwwww thx for that
you're welcome!
Came for beautiful sound, stayed for the beautiful playing!
thanks!
It would be interesting to see a Keyscape Felt vs Noire Felt comparison
Great idea
I think the biggest difference is going to be in the mic perspectives and ambience. Keyscape is much tighter sounding.
Also Pianoteq Felt! I was just playing around with the Steinway and Bechstein Felts yesterday. They’re very different from each other!

the de-noise also gets rid of a lot of ddefinition 😕 too bad because i love the tonality of their sounds
Keyscape can be hard to fit in a mix. It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

So excited to see the piano now in Keyscape. I have many felt libraries in Kontakt but Keyscape knows how to do presets. Love it. Great sounds Sam.

You can change the timbre, which alters it a little bit. It's not as customizable as some other pianos, but Keyscape has never been that way.
