- Fulton Hogan’s Melbourne Metro asphalt laying team recently had a big day on the Port Rail Transformation Project with our team’s largest day of production to date.
Currently our asphalt teams are on a home stretch of works on the project with about 6,000 tonnes of Fulton Hogan’s proprietary PortPhalt left to complete. Overall, our delivery includes around 37,000 tonnes of asphalt placed in the container terminal area.
Here’s our asphalt team paving with two pavers side-by-side. Completing works this way is best practice both from a quality and productivity point of view. As a result, the two crews completed over 1,100 tonnes for the day as part of their recent delivery milestone.
It’s an excellent project to be delivering for because it will create interface from Swanson Dock East to a rail line, removing the need to move every single container by truck. It will see more containers moved by rail more efficiently, by-passing roads in inner Melbourne.
Further details about the transformative project can be found here.
We’re extremely proud to be delivering for and working in partnership with principal contractor Seymour Whyte, for the Port of Melbourne, on what’s such an important project for Melbourne, the rail freight network, and for the broader community.
