- This step-by-tutorial is accompanied by a FREE paper template to make your own paper maché dragon. Some might call it “faux taxidermy”, but I consider it a wall-mounted sculpture or bust. This is a beginner-friendly DIY paper maché sculpture that has tonnes of potential for more experienced artists to build upon and make their own.
As a bonus, you can put a secret hiding compartment inside your dragon, so that your sculpture can guard your treasure!

The dragon is very cute! And it's so true, sometimes u just need to make something beautiful, and the day is way better^^
Yes, even when things aren't going well, the days I'm creating something are better than those I'm not!
Your cardboard construction is great
Thanks so much, Robert!
Thank you for this video! Much continued success!
Awesome dragon trophy
Wonderful presentation!
I've been using acrylic medium in place of white glue. It is terrific.
Brilliant, thanks for sharing ❤😍👏👏👏
Thanks for watchin'! 🐉
I love it so much ! Now that i've seen the complete tuto i'm definitively gonna give it a try ! Thank you very much for your clear explanations and the work you put into the video and into showing we can make great things with cheap materials. I'm really glad i can learn paper mache from your channel.
That's awesome! I'm so glad you found me. ❤️
Absolutely 💕💕💕💕 💯
I loved this so much I downloaded the template. It was tricky, but thankfully you do such a good job walking us through. ❤❤❤❤❤
I'm so glad you gave it a go and persevered!
I love it! Thanks!!
Wow! You are so creative! Great job!❤❤❤
Thanks for watchin', Jill!
Love the vid! Very comprehensive! Ooh the possibilities!
Comprehensive, yes! This one is definitely more detailed than most of my vids because I think some folks were wanting a video they could craft along with. 😊
Loving your dragons ☺️💜🐉
Awesome! Thanks for the love!
I love how you tagged Neil 😂 as soon as I saw him the Art Attack theme started playing in my head 😂
Neil is the GOAT! 💜
😮 wow.
Wow this is great!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks Gregory! I appreciate it!
I've added this to my "cool crafts" playlist, so I can try it when I have the time! Oh, and you have a new subscriber- the dragons are gorgeous!
Awesome! Adding a video to a playlist is always great for a creator! Welcome, and thanks for watching and subscribing!
It’s here!!! 🎉🥳🎊
Oh my gosh! We LOVE the early bird! 💙🐝💙
Yes , more..
He’s perfect. Thanks so much for all your efforts 😊
🐉Amazing work, thank you for the tutorial. I want to make these for everyone. I think I’ll make one to hang on my next Carnival cruise door as a decoration with super strong magnets🐉
Oh that sounds really cool! Maybe shrink the template a little so it doesn't take up too much room in your suitcase! 😜
Thank you so so much for this detailed tutorial!!!! 😍👍🏻💕
My pleasure!
Fantastic! Thank you Jane!
Thank you so much!!❤
It's been a labour of love! It's really cool to see people make dragons from a template I randomly cut out of cardboard in my basement one day! 🙂
@janesawyermakes it's true!! I think most just need a jumping off spot, which you totally provide!! I love that you show different options and encourage people to make it their own.
Looks awesome, great tutorial 👍 Thank you for your video!
More dragons!
🐲💜
❤dragon is processed, 😀😀😀
😮
❤❤
Wow. For sure you did a good job. Actually you did a super awesome job of sharing an incredible dragon. Did you use iridescent paint as the dragon glowed with greatness. Definitely interested in more dragons.
"Glowed with greatness" 🤪I like that! No, I didn't use any iridescent paint, but I have some Dragonfly Glaze I should def try on the next one!
I'd love to see you turn this into a unicorn because I really want to make a large unicorn bust for my front hallway. Also if I were to make a dragon probably I would blow it up to be a bit bigger but is there a way to mount it on the wall without the base plate?
So I already have turned it into a unicorn, I just haven't shared that. If you don't want the mounting plaque, you could trim it to the outside of the neck. It might be harder to balance though.
I'll try to post a short with more info on the unicorn within the next few days.
Could you make King Kong's axe?
I don't really want to.
@janesawyermakes ok, thank you for replying anyways😊
Bellissimo ❤❤❤ grazie mille 💕 come posso proteggere la scultura dall😢 umidità?! Grazie ❤❤❤
The paint and glue should protect the sculpture from light humidity. If it's REALLY humid where you live, try an outdoor polycrylic. You should try not to get these sculptures very wet. 😊
