I thought the same thing, a lot of people are justifying killing those six and I get it but what people weren't talking about is the damage to Jinwoo psyche, nor what else the system will have him do next time. I see many talking about art and music but one thing that also deserves little attention is character building. The anime manages to bridge the gap between inner-monologues of the characters and the "acts" they have to commit. It gives the characters a nice "human" touch.
Not gonna lie, I understand what your talking about in terms of the morals, but I atleast respect that this anime has a protagonist that seems much realistic in these messed up situations, not all the time we are going to need a naruto or thorfinn protagonist that teaches us violence is wrong 😂😂

As a non manhwa reader, I wonder how many times will the system and jinwoo collapse in disagreement. I think he accepted pretty easy that he needed to kill all of them because they were a threat, but what if the system said he needed to kill every single one of them including Yoo Jinho? I guess at that point he wasn't a threat and the system didn't take it in account, but it could think (the system) that no witness were the best way to "save him" and guarantee survival.
Keep Questioning it...There's a reason to why the system forces his hands...Just keep questioning it, it will make it better when it get revealed in later seasons.
Jinho is so precious. Must be protected at all costs 🥺 In the manhwa, the system said that he had to kill the people who wanted to kill him, but for some reason the anime changed it to “defeat” which is kinda vague, so I get why a lot of people watching question whether if Jinwoo really had to kill those guys or not, but he really didn’t have a choice. Also at this point (post-spider boss and despicable group of hunters) I would say he’s around high C rank of low B rank which is why he still had a relatively difficult time with the spider. If he didnt have that full recovery he probably would have died, but if he were already B rank at that time then he would have killed it no problem. So while I think it’s true that he underestimates himself a lot, but he’s still relatively grounded as to how strong he really is because of his perception and ability to tell the power levels of other hunters and monsters (i.e. red, orange, white color coding). Lastly, loveee your reactions! Just a minor point of clarification, he doesn't have to choose between the three rewards for completing his daily tasks. He gets the ability points, the random reward, and the full recovery.

The 6 people were just trying to kill him so he killed them first. So, picture it like this; Veterans. They were all once a soldier who stood on the battlefield, killing enemies who wanted to strike them down, to protect themselves or those who stands besides them. Most of them go to war because they're already swore loyalty to the country, and that they wanted to serve and protect the country. But when they entered the battlefield, they just wanted to protect those near them, try to stay survive, and finish the mission, but ended up killing others in the process. Indeed it's a war, but it doesn't change the fact that it's an act of killing regardless. He may have fallen in terms of morality, but he does it to protect himself and those near him.
I'm amazed how instantly You picked up about sword in his inventory in ep 4 and full recovery in this one, btw Voice Actor and OST in this episode goes wild...

The anime is true to it in everyway, and adds a bit more. I personally read the LN, and its one of the best ive ever had the pleasure of reading. Add on: I wont spoil anything but Jinwoo's Morality is unwavering :) Theres a reason I love him as an MC and Fictional character. He makes rational choices, and acts swiftly upon them.

I like how you remember the small details. most other reacts don't remember that Jin Woo had that full recover before they entered the dungeon. the massacere was handled in a wonderful way. the ost choice and the character dialoge really helpped sell that this wasn't really a 'choice' Jin Woo had. It was kill or be killed, wanted it or not. even if he did have a choice, the system forced him. there was no other choice. One of the big strengths this show (coming form the Manwah) will have is the way Jin Woo uses his powers. some details that come up later will show how the normal world views those hunters with extreame power. For example, S-rank hunters are considered to be too strong for the law to govern them. Jin Woo, starting at the bottom, will be "power earned" instead of given. it will be very interesting to watch some of the character dynamics later.

I got hate on reddit but I was like "why flash back towards those random girls when it isn't even in the manhwa" I would have had those 3 girls working out in the background during that karate scene and them talking about Chi there. Especially since that moment was iconic for getting people interested in the story. It was so distracting because I was like "I don't even rememember who these girls are and If I was an anime only 100% wouldn't have known"
re: that first beheading, I think it's less that he's unbothered by it and more that he'd already decided he was going to have to kill them, and Jinwoo might have terrible self-esteem at the moment but the man has ironclad resolve. Yes, there is someone who created the "System," but I don't mention who it is so I don't spoil it. However, there is no one who controls it to do something; it's a self-operating system. I mean, the system works based on what they program into it. So, if the system detects someone who is really trying to kill the player, the system automatically reacts and gives a quest to the player so he can protect himself. That's all I can reveal about the system so I don't spoil it. Hehehe
When you are talking about morality, there is a scene in Moonlit Fantasy where the MC, Makoto, kills a human (hyuman in the anime) after they tried to pilfer his town and killed 2 of their inhabitants. And immediately he goes through withdrawal because before he killed the girl, he says he wishes he killed her instead of saving her. It was basically his coming to grips with reality that he will have to kill to make peace. - This reminds me of that. Also I love watching Faroh's vids because her line of thinking is so different than mine lol. It's a unique perspective IMO.
You ask why it's so hard for Jinwoo to realice that he's no longer weak despite the fact that he grew so much, and the answer is pretty simple it's because he's obssesed with power, after 4-5 years of being at the lowest of the low and finally getting a chance to grow he doesn't want to feel that helpless ever again it doesn't matter how strong he gets untilbhe gets overwhelming power he will not stop

For the Gullibility thing, remember none of these people in the administrative organization have actually been in a dungeon. They'd be dead standing if they ever walked into one. So they have no real idea how combat in dungeons works out. All they know is 'this letter means this person goes to this dungeon' with some statistics on survival, and seeing some of the aftermath. So, that makes the lady buying it a bit more understandable.

The constant cutaways are a bit annoying, but they're important for setting the scene for future events later on. They're essential for better understanding the characters and what goes on later
The systems purpose was to make him strong. So the system gives him this quest to eliminate the threat to his progress. So i don't think the system will randomly give him quest to kill people, but it will trigger depends on the situation. It is actually sad that he was forced to do it but at the end when he is watching the rain, we could see that despite losing part of his morality he is still a nice brother. Some part of Humanity remains even after murder.

He didnt pick full recovery, whenever he completes his daily(strength) quest, he will get all 3 rewards (lootbox/3 stat pts/full recovery). He has the freedom to get the rewards whenever within 24 hrs.

It was written "kill the enemies or your heart will stop" outright in the manhwa, there was no choice I don't get why they changed it in a very confusing way here Jin woo is a dude with a motto of "fuck around me and find out" He very kind to the weak and indifferent to the strong until they fuck with him and he'll kick some ass
I would argue with the exceptions of the ones he hit with the debuffs, he was pretty humane with how he killed them, decapitation with a razor sharp blade, that's a fairly painless way to go.
Well on a larger scale rn he is still weak and i think that is what he is acknowledging instead of doubting himself, its better to underestimate yourself than to overestimate yourself.
Sung Jin-woo is the only character in the anime world who embodies the true nature of a human being. If we were in Sung Jin-woo's place in all of this, we would do the same thing. No one wants to be seen as weak and mocked.

As for how calm he is about killing, well, after what he's gone through and what he's come to realize I don't think he can afford to really stay human. The system helps him grow to become a strong hunter, and to do that, there will be moments when he can't afford to hold on to his humanity. Because the world of hunters is an extremely aggressive world where the strong trample over the weak. I remember in the manhwa at least, there was a scene where a doctor and nurse were talking about Jin-woo and hunters in general, and the doctor mentioned how hunters were basically monsters on the inside. As horrible as it sounds, there is some truth to that. Even the weakest hunters are stronger than most humans. Their bodies get strong and durable, they get unique abilities, and they even heal faster. With those abilities, and the lawless nature of dungeons and the work of hunters, it isn't hard to believe that many hunters are just like monsters, if they're not more monstrous than the creatures they face in the dungeons.
To answer your concerns on his humanity: he is unfortunately losing his as he grows stronger but he was human and will not forget that. Conversely a monster who was never human wouldn’t know to protect it. Spoiler: next couple episodes he has to deal with joohee mr sung and mr Kim. Mr. Kim was the one that abandoned him in ep 2. Jinwoo told the other 2 to leave. Jinwoo will forgive mr. Kim for what he did proving that while he is losing his humanity it still influences him.
Its gonna be many years if you watch just the anime until that question is answered : "Why did the system choose Sung Jin Woo". But if they go all the way for this story and animate everything, everything will be answered on this show. Why the gates pop , how the haunters became a thing etc etc , and lastly who exactly gave Jin Woo power and Who operates the system :). Its a waaaaaaaaaaay deeper story than you may think. It's got plot twists and that's all i'm gonna say to avaoid spoilers. For instance i couldn't help myself and got so addicted to the story that i went ahead and read the entire thing.

Dongusk's brother was the guy we saw at the end and minor spoilers but right now Jinwoo CANNOT fuck with him at all cus at this point he'll just get his ass handed to him but just wait lol
This is a spoiler alert for later on in the story like really later on this is about why Jinwoo was chosen by the system. It's be a couple before the shows gets to do this part so this is why I said "Spoiler alert". So a Monarch called Ashborn (Shadow Monarch) which is the source of Jinwoo's power later reveals that Jinwoo was chosen because he didn't play by the rules set by the system. Let me explain, the system was designed to predict any outcome to any situation, but Jinwoo was unpredictable allowing him to basically devour the entire system later on and kill the moderator of the system. The Architect was looking for a vessel for Ashborn but it wasn't easy for how powerful Ashborn was. After years of searching Ashborn notice one human who like I said "didn't play by the rules set by the system" which made him stand out, but he was always getting his ass kicked and always one brink of death and despite the Architect disapproval Ashborn chose Jinwoo. Since Jinwoo was among the weakest in the world the Architect made it possible for Jinwoo to adjust to Ashborns power with the system, and if Jinwoo died Ashborn wouldn't have a vessel and the search would continue hence why the system tries to keep Jinwoo alive as best it can. The Architect made the double dungeon to test Jinwoo. Apparently it was made specifically for Jinwoo but I'm not 100% on that part. The Architect invited Jinwoo back to the double dungeon after he reached level 101 so Ashborn can take control of Jinwoo but Ashborn never wanted to take control of Jinwoo in the first place instead he wished to transfer his power over to Jinwoo making him Ashborn's successor betraying the Architect and the other Monarchs and making him the second and most powerful Shadow Monarch
I'm not sure about Jinho being a danger to Jinwoo. While he seemed to fear him when first discovering the secret, he only showed concern at the end like he knew Jinwoo wasn't happy with what he needed to do. It was almost as if Jinwoo was going through shock over his first human kills. The humanity seems to still be there but also the realization that sometimes you have to do things you don't like to stay alive. Honestly, I hope Jinho stays around at least as a recurring character. He seems the kinda guy Jinwoo can trust ... he's a real one.
just a quick break down of how the power scaling kinda work typically 10 E ranks are as strong as 1 D rank and repeat till you get to S rank on average there are stronger A ranks then normal A ranks but like i said typically its a 10 to 1 ratio when it comes to rankings so a D rank boss is 10x weaker typically to a C rank boss again typically with some wiggle room but ya hope that helps you haha been very much enjoying your thoughts on the show so far as a reader of the show and cant wait for you to see where the show goes :D
To all those complaining that Jinwoo should have spared them, what are you going to do to those that tried to kill you and have killed many others. So it would be the word of 6 c rank hunters vs the word of 1 e rank hunter(cuz they would have killed Jin Ho)...and without any evidence, how would you prove your word. the cliché of going off the deep end, this is how american and japanese stories are often told. but this is a korean story. not as soft as japanese story (not all) telling and not as extreme as american story telling. korean/chinese stories are more to the point of eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. the get backs are usually very satisfactory.
I kinda get the concerns some people have about Jinwoo's actions...but to me, the reason I don't find it so much of a morality issue, is that 1, this is literally self defense, he wasn't the one who started the fight, and like he tells Dongsuk, they tried to kill him 3 times (while he literally stood there non-threatening). 2, even if Jinwoo and Jinho could escape there's no way the party would leave 2 witnesses alone, and even if Jinwoo could incapacitate and take them to authority's, there's no way for Jinwoo or Jinho to prove anything. 3, these people are honestly worse than the monsters they hunt. They repeatedly set up and take the lives of (temporary) teammates who should be able to trust and depend on them. They're only, just barely, technically human. As far as hesitating goes, good hunters learn that a moments hesitation can mean all the difference between life and death. And honestly, considering the betrayal and selfishness Jinwoo's experienced between this dungeon and the temple, it's a miracle he's not a lot more numb/ruthless.

In the manhwa, the system said that he had to kill the people who wanted to kill him, but for some reason the anime changed it to “defeat” which is kinda vague, so I get why a lot of people watching question whether if Jinwoo really had to kill those guys or not, but he really didn’t have a choice.
Also at this point (post-spider boss and despicable group of hunters) I would say he’s around high C rank of low B rank which is why he still had a relatively difficult time with the spider. If he didnt have that full recovery he probably would have died, but if he were already B rank at that time then he would have killed it no problem. So while I think it’s true that he underestimates himself a lot, but he’s still relatively grounded as to how strong he really is because of his perception and ability to tell the power levels of other hunters and monsters (i.e. red, orange, white color coding).

Consider this: he was reawakened as the weakest hunter ever. Still had to support his mom. Faced death more than most, perhaps anyone.
The 6 people were just trying to kill him so he killed them first.
So, picture it like this; Veterans. They were all once a soldier who stood on the battlefield, killing enemies who wanted to strike them down, to protect themselves or those who stands besides them. Most of them go to war because they're already swore loyalty to the country, and that they wanted to serve and protect the country. But when they entered the battlefield, they just wanted to protect those near them, try to stay survive, and finish the mission, but ended up killing others in the process. Indeed it's a war, but it doesn't change the fact that it's an act of killing regardless.
He may have fallen in terms of morality, but he does it to protect himself and those near him.

The anime is true to it in everyway, and adds a bit more. I personally read the LN, and its one of the best ive ever had the pleasure of reading.
Add on: I wont spoil anything but Jinwoo's Morality is unwavering :) Theres a reason I love him as an MC and Fictional character. He makes rational choices, and acts swiftly upon them.

the massacere was handled in a wonderful way. the ost choice and the character dialoge really helpped sell that this wasn't really a 'choice' Jin Woo had. It was kill or be killed, wanted it or not. even if he did have a choice, the system forced him. there was no other choice.
One of the big strengths this show (coming form the Manwah) will have is the way Jin Woo uses his powers. some details that come up later will show how the normal world views those hunters with extreame power. For example, S-rank hunters are considered to be too strong for the law to govern them. Jin Woo, starting at the bottom, will be "power earned" instead of given. it will be very interesting to watch some of the character dynamics later.

I would have had those 3 girls working out in the background during that karate scene and them talking about Chi there. Especially since that moment was iconic for getting people interested in the story. It was so distracting because I was like "I don't even rememember who these girls are and If I was an anime only 100% wouldn't have known"
re: that first beheading, I think it's less that he's unbothered by it and more that he'd already decided he was going to have to kill them, and Jinwoo might have terrible self-esteem at the moment but the man has ironclad resolve. No sense in drawing things out, especially since they *can* hurt him despite the power gap, so it's 'do now, feel later'.

Yes, there is someone who created the "System," but I don't mention who it is so I don't spoil it. However, there is no one who controls it to do something; it's a self-operating system. I mean, the system works based on what they program into it. So, if the system detects someone who is really trying to kill the player, the system automatically reacts and gives a quest to the player so he can protect himself. That's all I can reveal about the system so I don't spoil it. Hehehe
When you are talking about morality, there is a scene in Moonlit Fantasy where the MC, Makoto, kills a human (hyuman in the anime) after they tried to pilfer his town and killed 2 of their inhabitants. And immediately he goes through withdrawal because before he killed the girl, he says he wishes he killed her instead of saving her. It was basically his coming to grips with reality that he will have to kill to make peace. - This reminds me of that.
Also I love watching Faroh's vids because her line of thinking is so different than mine lol. It's a unique perspective IMO.
You ask why it's so hard for Jinwoo to realice that he's no longer weak despite the fact that he grew so much, and the answer is pretty simple it's because he's obssesed with power, after 4-5 years of being at the lowest of the low and finally getting a chance to grow he doesn't want to feel that helpless ever again it doesn't matter how strong he gets untilbhe gets overwhelming power he will not stop

For the Gullibility thing, remember none of these people in the administrative organization have actually been in a dungeon. They'd be dead standing if they ever walked into one. So they have no real idea how combat in dungeons works out. All they know is 'this letter means this person goes to this dungeon' with some statistics on survival, and seeing some of the aftermath. So, that makes the lady buying it a bit more understandable.

The systems purpose was to make him strong. So the system gives him this quest to eliminate the threat to his progress. So i don't think the system will randomly give him quest to kill people, but it will trigger depends on the situation.
It is actually sad that he was forced to do it but at the end when he is watching the rain, we could see that despite losing part of his morality he is still a nice brother. Some part of Humanity remains even after murder.

As for how calm he is about killing, well, after what he's gone through and what he's come to realize I don't think he can afford to really stay human. The system helps him grow to become a strong hunter, and to do that, there will be moments when he can't afford to hold on to his humanity. Because the world of hunters is an extremely aggressive world where the strong trample over the weak.
I remember in the manhwa at least, there was a scene where a doctor and nurse were talking about Jin-woo and hunters in general, and the doctor mentioned how hunters were basically monsters on the inside. As horrible as it sounds, there is some truth to that. Even the weakest hunters are stronger than most humans. Their bodies get strong and durable, they get unique abilities, and they even heal faster. With those abilities, and the lawless nature of dungeons and the work of hunters, it isn't hard to believe that many hunters are just like monsters, if they're not more monstrous than the creatures they face in the dungeons.
To answer your concerns on his humanity: he is unfortunately losing his as he grows stronger but he was human and will not forget that. Conversely a monster who was never human wouldn’t know to protect it.
Spoiler: next couple episodes he has to deal with joohee mr sung and mr Kim. Mr. Kim was the one that abandoned him in ep 2. Jinwoo told the other 2 to leave. Jinwoo will forgive mr. Kim for what he did proving that while he is losing his humanity it still influences him.

Its gonna be many years if you watch just the anime until that question is answered : "Why did the system choose Sung Jin Woo". But if they go all the way for this story and animate everything, everything will be answered on this show. Why the gates pop , how the haunters became a thing etc etc , and lastly who exactly gave Jin Woo power and Who operates the system :). Its a waaaaaaaaaaay deeper story than you may think. This is a spoiler alert for later on in the story like really later on this is about why Jinwoo was chosen by the system. It's be a couple before the shows gets to do this part so this is why I said "Spoiler alert". So a Monarch called Ashborn (Shadow Monarch) which is the source of Jinwoo's power later reveals that Jinwoo was chosen because he didn't play by the rules set by the system. Let me explain, the system was designed to predict any outcome to any situation, but Jinwoo was unpredictable allowing him to basically devour the entire system later on and kill the moderator of the system. The Architect was looking for a vessel for Ashborn but it wasn't easy for how powerful Ashborn was. After years of searching Ashborn notice one human who like I said "didn't play by the rules set by the system" which made him stand out, but he was always getting his ass kicked and always one brink of death and despite the Architect disapproval Ashborn chose Jinwoo. Since Jinwoo was among the weakest in the world the Architect made it possible for Jinwoo to adjust to Ashborns power with the system, and if Jinwoo died Ashborn wouldn't have a vessel and the search would continue hence why the system tries to keep Jinwoo alive as best it can. The Architect made the double dungeon to test Jinwoo. Apparently it was made specifically for Jinwoo but I'm not 100% on that part. The Architect invited Jinwoo back to the double dungeon after he reached level 101 so Ashborn can take control of Jinwoo but Ashborn never wanted to take control of Jinwoo in the first place instead he wished to transfer his power over to Jinwoo making him Ashborn's successor betraying the Architect and the other Monarchs and making him the second and most powerful Shadow Monarch

I'm not sure about Jinho being a danger to Jinwoo. While he seemed to fear him when first discovering the secret, he only showed concern at the end like he knew Jinwoo wasn't happy with what he needed to do. It was almost as if Jinwoo was going through shock over his first human kills. The humanity seems to still be there but also the realization that sometimes you have to do things you don't like to stay alive. Honestly, I hope Jinho stays around at least as a recurring character. He seems the kinda guy Jinwoo can trust ... he's a real one.

just a quick break down of how the power scaling kinda work typically 10 E ranks are as strong as 1 D rank and repeat till you get to S rank on average there are stronger A ranks then normal A ranks but like i said typically its a 10 to 1 ratio when it comes to rankings so a D rank boss is 10x weaker typically to a C rank boss again typically with some wiggle room but ya hope that helps you haha been very much enjoying your thoughts on the show so far as a reader of the show and cant wait for you to see where the show goes :D

To all those complaining that Jinwoo should have spared them, what are you going to do to those that tried to kill you and have killed many others. So it would be the word of 6 c rank hunters vs the word of 1 e rank hunter(cuz they would have killed Jin Ho)...and without any evidence, how would you prove your word. the cliché of going off the deep end, this is how american and japanese stories are often told. but this is a korean story. not as soft as japanese story (not all) telling and not as extreme as american story telling. korean/chinese stories are more to the point of eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. the get backs are usually very satisfactory.
I kinda get the concerns some people have about Jinwoo's actions...but to me, the reason I don't find it so much of a morality issue, is that 1, this is literally self defense, he wasn't the one who started the fight, and like he tells Dongsuk, they tried to kill him 3 times (while he literally stood there non-threatening). 2, even if Jinwoo and Jinho could escape there's no way the party would leave 2 witnesses alone, and even if Jinwoo could incapacitate and take them to authority's, there's no way for Jinwoo or Jinho to prove anything.
3, these people are honestly worse than the monsters they hunt. They repeatedly set up and take the lives of (temporary) teammates who should be able to trust and depend on them. They're only, just barely, technically human. As far as hesitating goes, good hunters learn that a moments hesitation can mean all the difference between life and death. And honestly, considering the betrayal and selfishness Jinwoo's experienced between this dungeon and the temple, it's a miracle he's not a lot more numb/ruthless.
