    Thank you! The dual attenuator is just a fader and a resistance, it can be used without electric power.

  • @Migoucorporation
    @Migoucorporation  11 лет назад +1

    Thank you ! You're right, the attenuator reduces voltage. For instance, for the patch at 3:13, I have connected the LFO output (with an audible frequency) into the external audio in. Without attenuator, the volume of the LFO is to high compared to the oscillator, the attenuator decrease the voltage, and so, the volume of the "LFO sound". This module is usefull to control the modulation but it's often integrated in the synth.

    CRAZY ANALOG SOUND TO THE END!!!

  • @Migoucorporation

    The higher note is the LFO1 in high frequency. The output is patched with an A-183-1 to decrease the volume before patching the output to the external input of the Dark Energy.

    It's a Doepfer A183-1 Dual Attenuator. It decrease the level of the CV signal.

    Thanks for this explanation! seems like a useful device to have paired with the DE. Im looking to get myself a doepfer, so wil make myself a few attenuators to go with it :D

    Great sounds, thanks for sharing. Im pretty new to Analog synths, what role is the attenuator doing? particularly at 3:20 (i mean, i can see the patching and i know that an attenuator reduces voltage but im nto sure how that interacts with they synth) thanks.

    Everything you did here sounds great!! What's the small module you're running the DE into?

  • @Longuncattr
    @Longuncattr 12 лет назад

    Hmm, a couple jacks and a linear pot. I wonder if it's even worth buying if it's *that* simple to make.

  • @Longuncattr

    So, is that dual attenuator a passive module?
    Very nice music in parts, by the way!

    I'm about to buy a second hand DE mk1, since I see you have a monotron too, do you thing they couple well together? (I'm new to analog synths world)

    One of the best Dark Energy vids for me. Do you know by any chance what i need to make it sound "polyphonic"? i don`t need to play multiple notes at once. just want the texture to sound more "rich" or "detuned" to get it to sound more like polyphonic illusion. What do i need for that? Adding external Oscillators or Vco`s? I don`t understand these things... Very cool video here btw did i mention? :-)

      strunzix I have used my DAW for sequencing (but in some patches, the DE is auto-sequenced, with the LFO patched into gate input) and a midi keyboard for melodies.

    Great! Is the attenuator always "in the air" like this or can you also add it to a rack or something like that ...

    • @BeetMasher
      @BeetMasher 9 лет назад

      its a standard rack module

    • @mm.dra69
      @mm.dra69 9 лет назад

      +Monochrome Arts But is it connected to a modular system? I am very confused, can you actually use a module like this, without connecting it to a modular system?

    • @BeetMasher
      @BeetMasher 9 лет назад

      +WombOfIzanami well it's not a terribly complicated module - it's just an attenuator that takes the LFO out signal and scales it down so it can be used as a control signal for the VCF. so yes, it can be used without an actual modular.

    • @mm.dra69
      @mm.dra69 9 лет назад

      But generally you can't use modules without a system? Sorry for sounding dumb, this is all new to me.

    • @BeetMasher
      @BeetMasher 9 лет назад +1

      +WombOfIzanami no worries man! theoretically, you could use every eurorack module on its own, without having a complete system. A "modular synthesizer" isn't really a defined term, for example you could say that the dark energy in this video in combination with the doepfer attenuator is a "modular synth" too, because it consists of two modules that are patched together in order to create noise.
