- The Lawrence Welk Show ran a 10-week dance contest. Former Mickey Mouse Show regular Bobby Burgess and his partner Barbara Boylan won. The song was released in 1961.
You can't but not love this song. A classic that will always be around. They don't make songs like this anymore
So terrific and nostalgic. Bobby is at his best and Barbara is so feminine and sweet - I love that big bow on her dress.
This was my favorite song pre-kindergarten.

Barbara & Bobby were great dancers and continued to delight audiences whenever they performed.
Bobby Burgess just celebrated his 50th Wedding Anniversary.
Bobby was a genius of the couples dance form. On Lawrence Welk you can see how he put a lot of demand on his female partners. The product is somewhere at the crossroads of Corny and Cringe, but they are 99.9% flawless and 100% entertaining. I also enjoy his tapdance trios with Arthur Duncan and Jack Imel where it's obvious that he's following Duncan's choreography instead of being the star. Always the quintessential showman.

I remember listening to Calcutta on a black and white TV. It was perfect, just like watching war of the worlds. O how I wished I was that lad, watching TV with my grandparents.
And Bobby and Barbie were hired by Lawrence Welk and the rest is history.
