Nobody does it better than James Kalm, that is my t a k e a w a y ... to use the parlance of our times. :-) Not only is this another thoughtful and evenly-paced show tour, but also, for me, another artist I wasn't really aware of, opened like a beautiful present by the best video camera and narrator in NYC. So much is gained by getting right up close to the surface, especially that massive blue one in the middle of the video. I couldn't help but think of some of Ed Moses' drip panel paintings from the 80s. I would also say Morris Lewis, but meh - that's too obvious, and frankly it didn't really come to mind with Pat's works. Really masterful, and each painting had a very poised and confident presence. Thank you again for a terrific video James. And I tip my coffee mug to the one and only... Kate!
Nice close-ups. I got some great freeze frames allowing me to dive into the surface. Impressive work along with the always cogent commentary of Mr. Kalm.
I paint and draw every day and have never had another artists work inspire me as much in the process of creating as Pat's paintings. A great colorist. Thank You Kate and James.
Eeeek...Pat Steir, Newman, Twombly and somewhere else someone said Brice Marden...I feel on the edge of an art orgasm...If i died and went to heaven, I'd love them all to be there...pass the poppers.
Nice vid James. I am living abroad in Germany and would be so thankful if you could check out the sterling ruby show at gagosian that I won’t be able to see! Thank you for your service as always
The collector who purchased works from Brice Marden's show at Gagosian this time last year had better saved some money to purchase some of Pat Steir's paintings at Hauser and Wirth this winter. That show is strongly linked to this one. 👏
Hiya not into Abstract s inheriting tho I would have to add something to them but it’s the Artist choice . I would have stuck on the man with white welly Boots at the end of the video he would have been nice on them ha ha .thanks for showing . Peter Scotland
Like her color and free flowing expressive use of paint. She is a painter's painter in every sense of the word. Love these paintings! 😎👍
Thanks for sharing James Kalm, informative and fun!
Pat is an exceptional artist , right up there thanks for bringing us this show
Thank you Kate. ❤️
Again, thanks for showing !
Amazing as usual!! Thanks from TX via Idaho ❤

Those pat steir paintings are fantastic! Wow 🍻
Thankyou, and like the notion of gravity which conjures gravitational attraction as dark matter seeming to peer through the colour gravity drips.
Awesome and magical paintings.

I see a bit of Twombly as well as Newman.

I was getting a Twombly vibe too, can't exactly place why but I thought the same. I'm getting a Rothko feel too, the multiple versions of one color.
14:17, I figured it out. The drips and color reminds me of Twombly's large flower paintings with the drips. I love those!
Opening performance on this one takes me to my favorite bar band from back in the day.
Very cool cover in the beginning 🌳
So original, fantastic! Thanks James! Appreciate!
Great video.
Intriguing technique. Great show!

Expensive decorative painting from a one trick pony. It's a good trick, I'll give her that.

Reminds me of Clifford Still a bit.
Thanks James! I bet Steir uses a blow-dryer to propel the drips along the canvas.
looks like Larry Poons 1970's stuff.
Big artists big paintings big studios in a big city with big rents
Makes for a small club, yes?

The 30 foot painting...........
Buena pintura
The grid structure altho good.., not working for me.
She keeps progressing while her imitators are left behind in muted colors of essentially landscape images.
no me gusta, ni un poco
Never liked this stuff.
