Just to add a different perspective; young marriage can be devastating for some, but an absolute blessing to others... Myself and my husband met at 16 and married at 20 (no children). 8 years on and its still the best decision i've ever made. Its not for everyone, but as hard as it is to believe, we were ready. Due to family circumstances/responsibilities, we both matured quicker than average. We undertook pre-marriage conselling, planned out our future, and understood the necessity to allow eachother to grow. When we got married, I vowed to marry not just the man before me then, but also the man he would later become. I wouldn't want 20 year old me, to be the same as 30 year old me or 40, or 50, or 60 etc. It has been the biggest blessing to find my life partner so young. In my experience, the key to a successful marriage, is to simply keep growing up together, no matter the age you start from 😊
I was 17 when I got married. I just turned 21. My husband is 23. We met when I was just about to turn 13 and he had just turned 15. We had a lot of challenges come into our lives. Helped each other through. My mother has dementia. My older brother is in medical school. I have a younger brother. Whenever my friend and I would have a problem, we both worked together to fix it. We fell in love. He's an amazing person. Everyone wants to say I grew up too quickly. That's not true. I was already going through stuff that made me have to grow up quickly. So was my boyfriend. He helps me stay young. He helps me stay young. I wanted to get married while my mother still remembers me. I never told anyone that was a fear of mine. When my boyfriend asked me to marry him, he didn't want a girlfriend, he didn't want to live with a girl, he wanted a wife. He wants us each equally invested in the life we build together. I love my husband. He's the one.
My sister was engaged at 16 to a 21 year old and married right out of high school. I on the other hand our parents chased every single guy off so now 40 and have never been married. I habent brought a guy home to meet them in 20 years.

Angels5990. Thank you for sharing your beautiful love story and I am sorry for your loss. I think it's sad that so many women are looking down on the fact a girl wants to get married and have a family at a young age but they are encouraged when they want to go out and party have good times and sleep around with a bunch of different men. To me it's just a warp ideology to have.
In this day and age, 19 is much too young to get married, both for males and females. For one thing, we're living much, much longer. Men and females are expected to do so much more "with" and "of" their lives. Gender roles, and age-appropriateness are not as predetermined, so if girl wants to remain unmarried, become a mechanic, open a Harley Davidson shop, and ride around the world digging wells in remote locations and vlogging about her adventures, she can. There are so many more "life styles" to choose from! Another thing, people in their mid-20s are no longer thought of as full adults. Entering into an agreement that is supposed to be life-long when one has not fully considered all the options one has in front, is not advisable. I'm sad to hear of those young marriages in your family not working and hope all of you have found your own inner strength and created a good environment for yourselves. We do not need spouses (or children, or parents, or blood relatives) in order to have a happy life. Joy, peace, contentment, and purpose can be found in so many places!
I have friends. At the time, their daughter and her bf were 18. They didn't want her to have sex before marriage, so they got married. It ended horribly.
People can express their views but at the end the BRIDE gets to choose what she wants. I knew what I wanted back in 1975 - went to the Pronuptia shop and explained what I wanted - first and only dress I tried on - no frilly lace, no bling and no bosoms spilling out - very classy.

It’s a little creepy that Daddy decides what dress his daughter wears on her wedding day. I mean when it’s time for the I do’s are the bride and groom going to have to tell the minister to hang on for a sec while they ask their mommy and daddy if it’s okay? I certainly hope the groom is also young, otherwise hubby and daddy should be on that list that says keep away from minors.
I think most brides on these shows are more focused on their look and very few consider the fact that if it’s a church wedding a little modesty would not go amiss. By all means have a glam dress but sheer panels on the bodice, cut low at the front to accentuate the cleavage? I think these girls are all about the look and not the location. I’m sure that some will think me prudish but to me respect and a little modesty are very important in a church setting.
I think you're overestimating the amount of people that get married in a church these days. I'm 35 so have just finished a solid decade+ of attending multiple weddings a year. 2 were in a church, both Catholic. That's it. Beaches, parks, homes, and designated venues are where people get married. One of the church weddings they actually got married on a farm and then 6 months later had the church wedding to appease the groom's father.

I married at 17 to the love of my life. Our families knew of each other for many years and my husband was beloved by everyone. He was 21, had graduated from college and was a lieutenant in the Air Forcce, later promoted to captain. I finished school, competed college, now have 2 Masters degrees and am a licensed teacher. I'm now retired from teaching. We have been married 58 years and still love each other like crazy. I'm not recommending that girls get married at that age. For me, it was absolutely right. Today's girls are absolutely not ready for marriage at that age. I was very mature and did not want to be without him for another year while he was stationed far away and I could only see him maybe once every six months. So instead of getting married when I graduated high school as we planned, we moved it up a year. My marriage has been the best decision I ever made.

@@DannaK247If you're interrupting the Bible ( which was written in a different scary time for women) to justify that Father's have ownership of their daughters or that they are property please leave whatever cult pushing that narrative! Women and girls are not slaves or property. It would be like saying well the Bible does say you can stone people to death or keep slaves so it's just their belief 👀 Um hello FBI ?
@@DannaK247 Claiming ownership of another human being is despicable!
Love how Monte always comments accordingly
They didn't mention the fiancé's age.
Why is dad ok with marriage, but even HE’S not comfortable with her in dresses!
Even worse
Pretty sure Kara is in a cult - maybe Amish or something…. The poor girl’s all consenting, but she doesn’t know that it’s weird and wrong. They often marry their kids to each other not for love, but for some kind of other gain for themselves, like joining two companies together because the two families are now joined. Something like that.
Or IBLP like the Duggar family from Arkansas with 19 kids
she is definitely NOT amish...nobody in that family is.
Obviously, you don't know anything about the Amish.
However, you're clearly right about the cult.
Amish??? The Amish don't even wear white to marry. Now, they do appear to be part of a fringe Christian denomination. "I picked a great young man for her", and "the dip at the chest is bothersome" says the father...and everyone else nods. The girl was SIXTEEN when she started courting. SIXTEEN! Nobody finds THAT objectionable? This is not the Middle Ages!
😂😂😂 Amish? Not quite
" I don't think this is your dream dress." is a paradoxon. I really hope my girls understand that when I am getting married. U r there to live the moment with me, to be present and be my emotional support. Not to tell me what you think is my perfect fit.
I watched my friend's face. I didn't have to like her dress. I knew when she loved it. That's the dress she chose. I hope your ladies do the same.
People are shocked about young brides/grooms, but I'm more shocked at what people pay for wedding dresses.
For a garment that will only be worn 2 hours, the price is craZy!
You’re seriously MORE concerned about the cost of the bridal gown than a ridiculously young age of the bride??? I’d pay off a $500-$1000 gown if it took ten yrs to save my 17 yr old father & god knows who the groom is!?!
@@brmam1385 Do you seriously think I can control what other people do? This is about a TV show with a lot of drama, we're not on jury duty. If the topic is too much for you to handle, then don't watch it. I didn't know I had to list my concerns to keep the crazy people from flipping out.
I got married at 16. HUGE mistake. It is now not legal in my state even with parents permission.
Scummy clickbait title. There are other problems with this episode but that was NOT one of them
She's much too young to be married. And to a much older man? That's gross.
First one is getting married to a “young man” that title was total Clickbait.
Ick vibes from the first family.
Sounds cultish to me
I always pause after I've seen a bit on youtube videos and I'm only at the 1:23 mark and I can tell this family is cultish and just ick. Now to watch the rest but not expecting to feel any better once I've seen more of them.
Dad is gonna be watching over his daughter during her honeymoon, instructing her 17 year old husband, what to do - lol
The first family is a sad example of brainwashing ur children. The whole situation is disturbing
In my experience, the key to a successful marriage, is to simply keep growing up together, no matter the age you start from 😊
20 is NOT 17
It’s religious zealotry in this case. Gross.
I could have written your post, except I married at 18 yrs old and 27 years later went through a divorce.
You’re advocating for child marriage… they are children…this is literally grooming children. Children can’t consent.
Ewwww! Bet Dad did pick the groom out!
My sister was engaged at 16 to a 21 year old and married right out of high school. I on the other hand our parents chased every single guy off so now 40 and have never been married. I habent brought a guy home to meet them in 20 years.
Everyone is saying clickbait, but is the title telling us the truth that they couldn’t air on the show…? The whole situation screamed ick. Dad should be investigated…
I wonder whether these young brides are still married to the same guy they were preparing to marry in these appointments or not
The first girl is not and she got away from her dad's control
Cults

Wonder what these "young" brides will wear for the divorce party !!!
I met my husband at 16 he was 19 got engaged at 17 got married at 18 and had my daughter at 19. I was married for 30 years until he died he wasn't the best but I did everything for my 4 kids to stay together. This age is way to young especially in these days back in my day people got married young. My mother got married at 19, my daughter got married at 19 all of us did not have good husbands Im the only one who didn't get a divorce my mom amd daughter got divorced because they all the husbands cheated.
That's kinda illegal
@@carly4082 back then they got married younger. I got married at 18 that's legal. He was away at college I was living at home with my mom going to school then college, until we got married that was the rules.
Yeah, but that’s not the norm, and happened in another time.
“The vigilant yet loving eye” okay so her dad is Big Brother from 1984 lmao
Dads high standards what a joke….he is on his 2nd marriage…..
I would imagine that this is his 2nd wife and he's still married to the 1st. He's got that vibe. SICK!
These are literal children.
No 17 year old should be getting married. Those cult parents should be ashamed !!!!
Minimum age to marry should be 18 and needing the permission of the person only, parents shouldn’t be allowed the decision to marry anyone
I have friends. At the time, their daughter and her bf were 18. They didn't want her to have sex before marriage, so they got married. It ended horribly.
I'm not judging her age .. she is getting married ( hopefully only once in her lifetime) that dress should be her choice. period.
People can express their views but at the end the BRIDE gets to choose what she wants. I knew what I wanted back in 1975 - went to the Pronuptia shop and explained what I wanted - first and only dress I tried on - no frilly lace, no bling and no bosoms spilling out - very classy.
Tattoos ruin everything.
The Dads “feelings” towards his daughter should be INVESTIGATED!!
My daughter will be 17 in the fall, and she could have graduated a year early, but no way would I want her to be getting married.
The title says shes 16. The girl herself in the video says shes 17 and the lady told ryan that shes 19😂 like how old is she really id hate to play telaphone with these people 😂
Why this brother has to say against his mother
Lori looks younger in the newer seasons, not older, wow!
This episode is disturbing
That last one's accent was so cute. I love it ❤
There is something wrong with the second dad! He’s marrying her off at 17 while still in braces for goodness sake’s. The neck dress offended him but she can get married at 17. This sounds like he’s a senior member in a religious cult. That’s crazy.
Back in my day that age
The people that work there should have a talk with young to be bride ALONE....talk some sense to the young girl....
Why does the thumbnail show the young girl with a 63 year old fiancé?
17. Not a chance . Plus dad is a weirdo
That is a pretty good price for a dress. I was expecting it to be super expensive, but was pleasantly surprised. :)
8:58
I want to rescue the first girl. 😭
Why this title of the video? There is not a 16 years old bride and definitely not a 63 years-old fiance.
Just to make us watch it?
Really?
my first marriage i was 19. and not muture enough to be serious about it. i divorced him and grew up after that. i remarried, had daughters. he lives in heaven now. i would love to take the first marriage and the divorce out of my background. i miss my husband, but heaven is the greatest place to be.
How is this legal?! She’s a literal child and this “husband” and the father are predators!!
she married another man instead
Oh my god she is to young.. why could let an old man get close to his child
Where is the 63 yr old fiancé that is noted in the title?
Clickbait I guess...
When all the bridesmaids are strapless, they look naked when you sit behind them in church!
@@Secretagent71114 yes you could be right, also I don’t know where your from but I’m English and a lot of ceremonies are still held in churches although that seems to be changing.
@yvonnescholey8972 Yup, American here. We are definitely moving away from church weddings and religion generally.
I even have a license to perform marriages from my state (cost me $10) because so many of my friends just wanted someone to sign the papers at their house etc. I married one of my friends and her husband in the parking lot of a Chinese restaurant while they waited for their take out 😄
@@Secretagent71114 o that’s so sad. I married my husband at 23 and we have been married for almost 39 years. Some of our best memories were being married in church with our family and friends there. I guess times really have changed😔
Child trafficking? 😳💔
Id be choosing to get my 17 year old to the school bus n time. You are legally a child until 18 yet the brain isn't fully developed until 21. Dad's creepy.

The infantilization to wife pipeline is crazy

He is still my boyfriend! ❤ 1965-common to marry out of high school. and everyone of my friends that married out of high school are still married! About close to 10 couples! Stayed married! Maybe we had the secret! 😊
Why did the assistant say she is 19 to Monte when the “bride” said she is 17
That was a different bride
Two different brides, the one with the braces was 17.
17 Years Old and getting married, She doesn't know the First thing about Love and most likely She's knocked up, but the sweet innocent angel daughter didn't tell daddy, She's going to be divorced 24 hours after saying "I Do"
It should be ILLEGAL for any girls today to get married before they're 35.
19 it's legal😂 n thn 17 year. Oh god... 😂till 24 I was in university❤lol...
I love Monte’s reactions!
Would love to know if the 17 yr old is still married & has escaped the cult & her dad!
1-2K is more than enough😂
Omg Lori looks sooo good with long hair
She 19 going on 15.
The old gal is amazing looking with her hair and tattoos ❤love her
First family creepy..
Save Kara!! Rescue her from this obviously horrible situation.
If you married at 17 to a 21 year-old, how old were you when you all started dating😮 four years is a huge age difference at that part of your life. Your husband is creepy.
Wow so the big brother inserted his "dumb" leg, but the dad is loving and carefree?
