  • Finding the NO PARALLAX POINT of a lens in shooting PANORAMAS allows for seamless stitching of multiple images. This is an easy process to learn and works with just about any lens on any panoramic tripod head. Here I skip much of the tech stuff and show you my technique for finding the no parallax point (some call a nodal point) using a Nodal Ninja 6 tripod head/gimbal arm.

congratulations! I have been using equipment for panoramic photos for so many years and I just realized that you adjust the equipment correctly and quickly! earnest request! I have in my possession the nodal ninja mecha with 2 motors, please make a video detailing how you use this equipment! There is nowhere and it would be so nice to make a presentation on how we use it, how we upgrade, and what I need to know about this wonderful unique panoramic photography tool! please do not forget me!

Is it better if those two tripods for testing are further apart?

Do you only do this once per lens or do you have to do it everytime you go out and shoot?

What if I have a zoom lens? Does the no-parallax point change as the focal length change?

Best is to check for each focal length you want to use, as you need to be sure on overlapping area there is no parallax, at different zoom you have different overlapping areas, also the shooting method is changed, e.g. from 6 around to 8 around at longer focal length.

No one explains if you can move your tripod from this point. Also, do you need to do this everytime you move to another room within a home?

The parallax point is specific for your lens(zoom) and shooting pattern, once you had found it, and set the rail or rail stop accordingly, you don't need to find it again, unless you change the lens or change the zoom. i.e. is good for other room and another, so on.
