Great job Steve figuring out what your problem was after reading your scan tool. You saved yourself a lot of money shopping around for your parts and repairing it yourself. Cheers
Good diagnostic Steve.....and good fix. Now, that price difference is a good difference and the reason you check the price first on Amazon.....Well done buddy.....CHEERS
You are THE BEST TEACHER SIR 👍😉👌🧐 Yes investigate is a vital factor 👌😉👍 Some dealerships are crooked,,, 😤 Yes in deed 50 to 150 $ for any diagnostic for sure 🙄🥴 Keep up your OUTSTANDING video Steve Cheers 😉👍🍻
How's she goin'? Nice fix here Steve!!! Cars these days are not a simple machine any more. Having a scan tool, if you plan on doing any kind of work on your vehicle, is a must have for sure. Thanks for showing us the troubleshooting method and the repair. Take care!!!
Mike the knowledge is free on youtube for all do all it takes is a bit of time and a $60 scan tool most times. Going to a shop is inconvenient and costly . Cheers Mike
Hope it’s not in your back yard camping & hunting squirrels with Scotty Kilmer 😂 Yes SMA has a great auto repair channel one of the best. Also first time I seen you, have a place up state, looking at Canadian over the river. How is the border now?
Just wanted to thank you for your guidance. I kinda lucked out this morning, mine turned out to just be some corrosion causing the intermittent failure. Trying to attach pics to this response in the hopes it may help someone else. 2016 Cruze LTZ
Hi Genio In my experience, a misfire, even an intermittent one does stress these coil packs . That is exactly how this coil reacted at first intermittent , then constant . This coil pack stumbled for two years only 3-4 times until I had to change it . Hopefully , you don't get another misfire, but if you do :)
which one is not like the other! Steve Your a genius with cars I'm impressed I guess everything is made plastic and cheap now! Thank goodness for Amazon .
Annie you could definitely do this . All the dealers around me were not even close to Amazon plus free delivery. The dealers pricing is so high they force people to shop elsewhere.
Good job Steve👍 C.O.P. ignition is great in the sense of one step removed in diagnostics not having spark plug wires. Rock Auto is a great online parts outlet as well for saving money! Take care buddy✌
Thanks Marc , yes RO is a option too. I ordered a case of 12 AC Delco oil filters for my silverado for $76 delivered compared from the dealer at $108 and I get a 20% discount on GM parts :)
Great video Steve - I had a case were a PO300 misfire code was fixed with a spark plug change but admittedly I’m still uncertain when it’s a coil problem and when it’s just needing new plugs. My wife’s vehicle has a transversely mounted V6 and it’s suggested to move the three rear coils to the front as the rear of the engine gets hot - making the coils last longer. In your situation, I wonder if heat build up may have contributed to the misfire/coil problem? Thanks Steve, always something worthwhile watching on your channel, cheers
Coils are like plugs as they only go so far so hard access coils at 130k are best changed . Heat and moisture especially salt infused moisture sure affects the electronics . This one was easy to work on but some are a bear 😅😅 Cheers Ed
I purchased a low cost bidirectional scanner over a year ago. It has been great but I would not suggest for someone that is not somewhat familiar with vehicles. You can get yourself in a lot of trouble really fast.
Hi Rick Bidirectional is awesome to have , not yet for me but so far simple stuff I can still do. My new silverado is a driving computer 😅 not sure how well I will do when stuff starts breaking in 15 years 😉
Same here. Car runs smoothly now, no shaking & check engine light went away. So I used the OBD reader again to make sure things runs smoothly. It still shows on the reader that P301 showing. It check engine light is gone & car runs smooth now. Should I be co concerned?
I have an 11 1.4 eco. Stabiltrac/traction control and cylinder 2 misfire. Flashing cel. Ive changed the plugs, coil pack, ground wire from battery, all the injectors and im still having the same issue. Any clue or advice? Codes are p0299 and p0302. Turbo and cylinder 2 codes...could this happen due to the timing chain? Getting frustrated...
@@SteveRobReviews true indeed! But yes unless I somehow got a faulty plug and coil pack I did check them. The parts I tried are the common diagnosis from others that had the same issues. I will say that the coil pack was from Amazon and definitely wasn't the acdelco variety. So I could reverify that one by getting another new one. Maybe I'll try that one again today and report back.
@ready2rise I can't say aftermarket coil packs are junk but I've yet had a new faulty AC Delco coil pack. It's definitely fixable with looking at scan data and understanding how to interpret it all.
Did anyone encountered the limb mode. I had a couple issues with the cruze mine is a 2ltr turbo charged diesel engine which is amazing regarding the power delivery anb all but recently my cruze went on limb mode and thought it might be the output speed sensor fixed it but turns out that it’s not the problem and my mechanic told it will be a gearbox issue and i have repaired my transmission which is on the way rn. So please let me know any face similar issues! Much appreciated and amazing video
I got this code but car only does it at 100 klms driving around town it’s fine..just started doing it arfter I flushed the coolant system yes I bled the system correct
@Brick squad 1017 Your definatey going to need a scan tool . Could be many things that can be tested and fixed forsure. Verify cylinder , fuel trims , is it mechanical ? Electrical? . Lots of testing forsure.
@Alvinyokatori ever find the issue?mine is the same changed coil. plugs. Moved the fuel injector. Has a new coil connector. Cylinder 3 still misfires. But only at idle when I rev it misfire goes away. Only code is p0300 but on a scan tool the only cylinder that misfires is cyl 3
How come cylinder number is like that?????? from left(drive belt) it is 1, 2, 3, 4.. The firing order is 1-3-4-2. This means After #1 cylinder fire, then #3 cylinder fire.
The Ac Delco coil pack seems to be working great . Buying origional parts that were installed at the factory in many cases are not available for the consumer. When I worked on the line at GM so many parts were only supplied to the factory and not even available at the dealer as they were given what would be an aftermarket part .
Great job Steve figuring out what your problem was after reading your scan tool. You saved yourself a lot of money shopping around for your parts and repairing it yourself. Cheers
It's definitely a huge relief in the wallet 😅 Thanks Lloyd

Nice job Steve! It drives me crazy that Dealerships take advantage of their own customers over charging for parts and service. Thanks Buddy!
Just the diagnosis would be $150 so a bit of time spent at home is well worth it. Cheers Doug.

I hate old brittle plastic connectors. They almost always break. Good job on the fix Steve
Thanks Bruce yes the plastic is so brittle especially in a cold shop.
I remember seeing you on south main auto repair llc years ago. Good tips 👍 be good stay safe Steve
Wow thats way back 😅 soon you may see SMA on my channel . Cheers Joe

The border is wide open . Scotty is still in his driveway filming vids in Texas , wont leave his driveway anymore as he's almost 90 now:)

Yes and buy a chevy 👍 Thanks Glen

Nice fix Steve, I think on todays cars a simple scan tool is a must and worth the money. Cheers
Thanks Ron my simple scan tool makes me think a lot more than a fancy one but at least I can understand this one 😅😅
You relayed some nice tips along the way Steve.
Thanks Wyatt , it was an easy job but the plastics after 6 years is sure brittle now . Cheers 👍
A quality connector 😬 nicely done buddy

HAHAHA goodntight is good enough eh. Thanks Dave 👍
Mines all same symptoms replaced coil pack and all plugs and atill having same issues
Could be many things but I'd look at fuel trims for a vaccum leak but if it's running bad enough it should set a code.

@ready2rise That's a lot of parts , after all that I'd be verifying that the new parts are good . Lots of testing but it just has to be done.

I read once about a bad pcv valve. Take the hose off and see if it’s sucking air. If so, replace.

Still got same issue after replacing plugs and coil
What specifically is the issue?
@@SteveRobReviews misfires, usually on startup, cylinder 3 I think

why a have oil on the sparks? and i have the same misfire
Could be a couple of things but oil fouled plugs indicate oil leaking into the combustion chamber thru the valves above or the rings below .
Thanks for showing me the cylinder numbers!!!
No problem 👍
Can they even make a plastic clip that don't break after few years lol in the cold even worse. Great fix steve
Thanks bud , next time I will use a heat gun to get it a but softer before touching it 😅😅

How come cylinder number is like that?????? from left(drive belt) it is 1, 2, 3, 4.. The firing order is 1-3-4-2. This means After #1 cylinder fire, then #3 cylinder fire.
There are two different cylinder designations - cylinder identification number and then there is cylinder firing order.
Already replaced plugs and coils
Steve great video!
Thanks Tim , much appreciated.
The plastic on them gets brittle and breaks with age. Also a coil can die at any time.
Yes exactly plus it not something you can put off till the summer. Cheers 👍
Buy the original GM coil pack. Those aftermarket’s will leave you at the side of the road!

Those plastic parts are just crap. Even though I never broke one. Yeah, right! haha
Being ice cold didn't help but when it broke it felt like the clip had been heat baked a million times and just shattered HAHA
Thank you.
