- I have been getting a lot of questions on how I actually start up my Lone Star Grillz Pit. I chopped together a quick video explaining my methods. Hopefully this helps some of you out that are new to the game. Keep on smoking and thank you all for the support. Stay safe and don't wear chanclas like me. lol..

Well done big boy from Australia
Gm Eric, which smoker do u prefer the offset smoker or your lsv cabinet? An which one gives the better flavor?
Man I am going to build you some tables and make you some beautiful wood signs for the entrance by light and one for the yard and you can open an outdoor dinning room.
For everyone that is watching this man make magic I wish there was smellavison my wife laughs at me because I can smell it the second he fires up the beast. Keep up the great work I love coming out of my house and down the block smelling this.please open a restaurant
Thanks Glen. I appreciate the support. I definitely need to start getting me some cool custom gear. Ive been thinking about that for a while now.
Lonestar started my build last week! I can't wait!!!
Great video ! I have the LSG 30x36 cabinet model and that is how I fire it up. I don’t understand why some people have such a hard time building a fire!
What size opening is the air intake on the door?
Erik what's your opinion on the Oklahoma joes highland smoker VS the old country pecos smoker, and which one is the better of the 2,please respond, I'm undecided on these 2.
great vid!! i really want a lone star!!
You doing an Awesome job on video. Very detailed. Keep the videos coming and I'm watching everyone of them.👍
They love heavy metal in San Antonio! Good channel!
HI, Sir Thanks for sharing this vid, I just ordered my first offset smoker, Lone Star Grillz 20x42, This is very helpful to me, I can't wait to get it, and learn how to use it. I just subscribed to your channel.
Loved this type of video! You should do more, maybe one on how to clean?
I actually am going to do one on how I clean and oil my pit after I use it. Its like we are on the same page lol.. Thanks for the support Eric!
Thanks needed to c that. Much love from Philly!
Man Love that setup. I wished i had one like that..
hey man just found your channel it was recommended since I follow bbq pit boys so far ive enjoy your videos keep up the good eating
How do you maintain the paint and finish on your firebox? Yours doesn’t look all rusted out like most. Thanks for the video.
Sweet video my friend!! I’m waiting on the call for my LSG. The wait is killing me lol
Great info, thanks for sharing!
You ever have issues with your wood smoldering when using splits that size? I have a Lonestar offset as well....I have to use very small splits to maintain a clean fire and decent coal base.
Absolutely... Sometimes HEB has huge splits. These large logs are difficult to maintain a good fire. It drives me crazy lol. I wish I had an axe or something whee I could split them more. I really like the smaller logs that are nice and solid, but when I get the huge blocks it is definitlely more difficult and I have to keep turning the logs about every half hour to make sure they burn evenly. I also sometimes have to get a small fan and run it on high next to the inlet to make sure the logs light very well and not just the outside.
Excellent video and i do have to ask. How fo you maintain that firebox there is zero rust and it looks extremely well seasoned.
I have a Lone Star Grillz 24x60 trailer with a vertical and 5 tuning plates. I love the beast, but having difficulties maintaining an even temp throughout the pit. Do you use tuning plates? Can you maintain an even temp from the main chamber through the vertical? Any suggestions?
Rogelio Guerra I was having a hard time at first too. I do in fact use My tuning plates quite a bit. I am able to get an even temp with both sides of the main chamber and the vertical will be about 25-50 lower. Not too bad. So if I need to do a very large cook, I just cook my hotter temp stuff in main chamber like chicken and or my butts. 300 or so.I will cook my briskets in the vertical around 225 to 250ish. I can try and make another video showing how I set up my running plates and what works for me. Hopefully I can help you out a bit. I know how frustrating it was when I was trying to figure it out...
Throw the turning plates in the trash. All they do is kill the draft and convection.
Dude, where ya been?
I've been waiting for another video from you.
I went up to LSG and spoke with Chris. I've been there a few times, since I work in Conroe. I've had my heart set on a 24x30 vertical cabinet, but for the cost difference if only $250, I think I'm going with the 30'x36. M5 brother is kicking in another $800 to 1k , and he wants me to get a small concession trailer so we can sell this stuff on the weekends. We're both auto technicians, and we hate what we do, but the money is just too good.
Mark Carranza what’s up bud? Thanks for the support. I just released the spatchcock chicken one. I have another one I’m editing right now. If ya want we post smaller updates on or FB page more often. Feel free to follow there if ya haven’t yet. I will try to get more videos out. Sometimes it’s a little tough with 4 kids needing attention on the weekends lol...
Mark Carranza also that pit sounds awesome! Chris and company make some epic products man... I’m hoping to get another one soon.
Just found your channel and subbed. Live in Eagle Pass, not too far away. Gimme a hollar if you ever need help finishing your BBQ. Great channel and keep it up!!
Oh.....and Go Spurs Go #gsg #chaseforseis
Dude don't let that trash burn in your pit ...
New to the channel looks good great smoker
Thanks E !
Same way I fire up my Lang. :)
That's exactly how I do it on my LSG.
Great video. Very informative. Quick question: How long does it take that beast to get up to temp and how often do you need to add wood?
Wanted to ask........is there a reason why you use briquettes instead of Lump to start? I see a lot of guys doing this.....wondering if I should too? \m/
Heavy Metal Bar-B-Que how are you doing? I personally don’t use the lump coal as much because it pops a lot. I don’t like when I go to check my fire and I occasionally get an ember flying at me. Charcoal to me burns nice and steady... Just my experience.
Thanks Bro! Yep...it does Pop! :-) \m/
Thanks for another great video. How often are you cycling your wood in?
good shit bro nice
Man, how do you move that smoker beast around? I know you can't keep it in front of the garage.
U dont have the propane assist??
SmallTown BBQ hey small town how’s it going? No I did get get the propane assist option. I really couldn’t afford anymore upgrades. My wallet was wearing too thin lol.. Perhaps on my next pit I will get the options and upgrades I missed out on this time.
where do you buy your post oak, I'm in San Antonio and only find it on FB sales or Craigslist!
i cook in chanclas all the time. #NoShameInMyGame #ChanclaMasterRace
I dont usually cook in chanclas on purpose lol...it just so happens I am usually wearing them inside the house all comfortable and then I start doing something with the pit and am like oh well Ive been wearing them this long lol... The bad part is, if I do wear them the whole time my feet hurt after the cooks because of standing on that concrete.. Thanks for the support bud!
get a chair if you camp out by your cooker all day like i do. Sit out there with my phone blasting tunes out of a little bluetooth speaker. either that or get some comfier chanclas lol!
