Stumbled across this video after looking at Mercedes videos. Taking the actual review of the car out of it, I really enjoyed the delivery of the review. Professional, really well structured and some humour to boot. Excellent.
I like the front end more than the Rolls Royce. The wider grille fills in the space better, and the body panel flowing over the top of the grille looks sleeker and more aerodynamic, visually lowers the grille. The rear does not come off quite as well, but it is not offensive. I wonder if the interior plastic film is factory applied and just not taken off. I'll admit that once I did not realize it was there, it was well done and not obvious.

This car was also in partner with toyota. A 2liter toyota engine. The technology is not lacking in those cars, either. It comes complete with a centrally-mounted digital gauge cluster, a touchscreen that does away with most physical buttons on the center stack, and even cylinder deactivation for its big V-12 or v-6 for better fuel economy. Styling-wise, it really doesn’t betray its roots, being quite obviously designed to mimic the look of the 1963 Hongqi CA770. @@jareknowak8712 That's what i thought, he said a 2 litre 4 cylinder turbo or a V6 supercharged...where does the V12 come from ??. No mention of it here.

When anything's made in China, it's bound to get unfair critism for being a knockoff or slow. But, in reality if this car were to hit the states for $45k, everybody and their mama would be trading in their crossover to get their hands on this no questions asked.
Very true. In fact it might actually sell BETTER than what it's allegedly copying. I remember several people I knew wanting to get the last generation of Ford Fusion because the front looked like that of an Aston Martin but at a fraction of the cost.
Honestly, I don't see any part of this car that is blatant copying. Sure the interior has RGB lighting that came from Mercedes, but so does BMW now and nobody says anything about them copying Mercedes. Is has similar designs and the same features as other cars, but it's all uniquely it's own car.
In China, the price of this car is similiar with one BMW 5, E CLASS, A6L, XFL, S90, CT6, etc. It sold 2000-3000 each month here, which is better than CT 6, XFL, but way too less compare to 5, A6, E, these 3 could sell around 15000 unit per month here in China.

Quite a cool design. It takes inspiration but think it looks fairly unique on its own. Not a fan of the two-tone, but cool to see something more experimental 😀
@@markntexas8265 Rolls Royce does two-tone so much better though. It compliments the body work design. It flows from the grille, over the bonnet, over the roof, and flows off the back. This tries to, but the slip under the windows, due to the grille flaring across the headlights looks awkward. There's too much of it so looks more garish to me - I think a more subtle two-tone like two shades of purple, would work better in this sense.

First time coming across your channel. Definitely unique and solid on quality. One nit-picking thing I can't brush aside is your driving position. You are much, much too close to the wheel. Not only will driving like that considerably handicap you in any situation demanding precise car control, it will also present a much higher risk of injury from airbag deployment. Take it from me. As a novice race car driver (amateur), a wiser participant pointed out a similar issue with my driving position. Though it took a bit to adjust, after getting comfortable the difference was night and day.
Yes you look a bit close to the wheel. That's up to you but it does make it looked a bit cramped when in fact I doubt it is. I like the colour and it looks great from the side. I'd say the lag between pushing the gas and actual moving is probably a computer issue/programming. I've driven cars where you can press the pedal all the way down and the engine doesn't even attempt to rev and slowly goes up in rpm and speed, bot the transmission.
The car is uncomfortable to look at. It feels like the result of an accident between 4 cars that resulted in this car. Frankly, when I look at it, I feel dizzy.

I agree! Lincoln is the first car I thought of when I saw the grille. It's a good looking car and I think it would sell well here in America for the over 60 crowd. We don't make cars like this anymore unfortunately.
I like that this is a comfortable luxury car, not a luxury sports car like most models from other manufacturers. Kind of a throwback to what American luxury cars used to be: a couch on wheels that did not pretend to be or handle like a sports car. This is what people keep asking for. I wonder if this knockoff would do well in the US? I think it's just a matter of time for the quality to come up a bit more and we start seeing more Chinese vehicles in the US and Canada.
You're over confident to call it a knockoff. Who drives American luxury cars? There's German luxury cars. Pick-up truck, that's what you need. You're just trying to find some tiny excuse to make yourself comfortable. Pathetic

The idea Chinese cars are bad is based on the same as "our" automakers in the 70s and 80s when affirming Japanese or Korean cars were bad, it was all but a fact. But it's always easier to expose others' pseudo-mistakes than fixing ours. If Chinese industry is SOOOO BAAAAD why all manufacturers even for premium or luxury goods go to China (your beloved Iphone was built by Chinese, part of your luxury Swiss watch were made in China).
@@mmadmic There is a huge difference between Chinese goods and goods from Western first that are made in China. The latter are made in factories designed and paid for my those companies to the same standards as they build them anywhere else. The Chinese factories are anything but. Chinese firms just churn stuff out with virtually no rules to stop them doing what they want, no quality control to stop them using much cheaper materials and techniques, and so on. There are exceptions to the rule but they are exceptions, not the norm. Western manufacturers go there because they don't have the same health and safety rules that we have here, which saves the manufacturers money and labour is at least 10x cheaper with the typical factory workers wage being somewhere between £30 and £60 a week. They don't have things like maximum working hours, paid holidays and pension plans so it is vastly cheaper to make your products in China even if you have to build the factory and take over quality control. We also still class China as an emerging economy, which means that we're subsidising their exports so it's vastly cheaper to ship your goods from there. That's why you can buy goods from China for less than the price that it costs to post a letter across the country - we're paying for their shipping costs!
Look at any other, LITEARALLY ANY CAR, and you can draw similarities to another car. While some Chinese cars absolutely is a direct copy of another, in recent years the Chinese designs has been quite original including this one. The similarity between this car and other cars, is no more than any other car's similarity to one another. Just look at the Cadillac XT6 vs Volvo XC90 for instance. (XC90 came out with that design first years in advance). Look at the "similarity" between the Genesis lineup and Mercedes, BMW, and Cadillac. And the list goes on and one.

I'm not so sold on the ridiculous huge grill but that seems to be the modern "thing". I also tend to prefer my cars to be set up for comfort rather than speed as I often end up doing very long trips in them. So yes, on balance if it was available in the UK I would be interested.
the two tone paint is a ripoff design stolen from rolls royce and maybachs (actual high end vehicles lol) but also the massive grill and rear is also stolen from rolls royce design with a bit of honqi's own added touch

Impressive pricepoint. If reliability is ok, it would be amazing value for money.
Interior design is very much like the 2012+ Audi A8L W12. Overall an aesthetically pleasing vehicle.

The wall mounted bicycle, the out-of-place office chair, the building made out of shipping containers....

Its design can stand on its own. Its upper grill looks like it came from a Lincoln. I think its overall look and platform is comparable with the 2021 Genesys G80.
I thought the same regarding the grill.
Look away from the colour and grille (both likely inspired by their new Rolls Royce designer), and this car looks really unique and great, IMO. The Chinese are clearly stepping up their game. I can't wait until Chinese cars make their way to Canada.
Not if the USA says no to that.
The few Chinese car brands on sale here in the UK we struggle for parts, main dealer or motor spare shops where i work in. Great Wall and the new MGs for instance the parts are on back order at dealerships even for normal service ie, filters, brakes. They become cheap very quickly because no one wants one because of the the build quality and hassle of a simple service.
Ok, now we know what comes out, when a BMW 7 series, a Rolls Roys Ghost and a Cadillac CT5 are making a child.
I know your favorit genre is a 3some right ?
and a Maybach and a Genesis, and an A8, and Lexus LS. Seriously they have it's own design, that are unique to the car, at least it is better than 2021 W223 Sclass that looks like an E class with Audi rear lights.
That's an incredibly gorgeous car on the exterior
How??Pls tell me:)
I quite like it. I think it looks good, it has presence and I like the two tone paint, the red line motif and the rear end.
Looks like that are going to get a lot of people sitting up straight to ask further questions about it. This marks the beginning of the end for most domestic marques. China does not take prisoners when its attacking a foreign market. It simply throws everything it has at it until they achieve success.
@@chroniclesofab6206: Haha, Chrysler used this exact 2-tone color scheme and oversized grill on the 5th Ave 37 years ago when Rolls Royce was still bragging about its multiple coats of archaic lacquer paints and trying to catch up with technology and style, lol.

Great review. So nothing has changed when it comes to Chinese cars: they copy the easy stuff (looks) but not the hard stuff (driving dynamics, fit and finish).

Whether you like it or not - cars like the Brilliance BS6 and the Shuanghuan Sceo aren't too long ago. For a country that wasn't a global player on the car market at all - they've made an astonishing amount of progress. I think it's a pretty good looking sedan.
Looks interesting, got a lot of design from RR and other western brands.
Regarding the engine, people outside of china might think it´s way to small, but people in china like to buy the biggest or "most luxurious" car they can afford and then choose a basic trim and smallest engine so they can afford it.
Gaining "face" is the magic word.
Engine is also not a huge problem, the car does drive and is not a sports car either. You get a ticket for everything anyway.

the red stripe on the hood IS a badge. Its actually a TRADEMARKED BADGE and has been used for over 70 years on luxury cars from this manufacturer.

The very fact that a vehicle with this kind of design outside and inside, and this kind of comfort costs 1/3 of its competitors from Germany only shows how expensive the brand name on the hood has become. The main culprits for this are buyers, who are ready to massively overpay for their vehicle if it does say BMW or Mercedes or Audi.
