as a 2nd generation ABT also interested in improving my mandarin, I can say that 晶晶體 is one of the biggest problems with the older generation trying to pass their language to us. They substitute some of the most important words with English so we never learn those words.
I never knew that Chinglish was called 晶晶體 until I filmed this vlog! I often find myself slipping into Chinglish, even when I know how to say certain phrases in Chinese. In the moment, if the word or phrase doesn’t come to mind instantly, I instinctively 晶晶體 to fill the gap. It happens so naturally that it feels like second nature 😅 I didn't realize it was a habit I’ve unintentionally developed until I filmed this vlog 🥺 Recently I’ve been trying to pause and give myself a moment to think of how to express the phrase fully in Chinese before resorting to English. It’s definitely a challenge, especially since speaking in Chinglish has become such a deeply ingrained habit. But we just got to keep on practicing 🥹💕
@@AmericanBornTaiwanese I learned that term from a DoDoMen video! they have this funny video where they are challenging themselves to go a whole day without using 晶晶體, they definitely have a lot of challenges doing that like you. It's interesting how languages work like that. I actually use their videos (and yours) to improve my Mandarin :)
