I’ve listened to Idina Menzel for YEARS, and was randomly recommended this video to my surprise. You perfectly analyzed her voice and vocal tendencies! I’m so shocked!
For the singing maybe. But voice actors are ACTORS. They have to be able to deliver emotions without sounding awkward, and thats really difficult to do for singers untrained in (voice)acting.

FUN FACT: The technical term for your “A!” technique is called shadow voweling. A lot of words have it but in music we make conscious decisions whether or not to use them. We tend to use them as a tool to accent the consonants directly before the shadow vowel. Example: unknown-A! Accents the “n” right before the “A!” (I of all ppl would kno Bc I STRUGGLE with consonants and my voice coach and choir directors r constantly yelling at me abt this lmao)
This technique that she calls “crow voice” is called Belting when you do the ‘screams’ ans is a technique Elsa’s voice actress popularized in musical theatre. However it is really hard and you can really hurt your vocal chords. Please Be careful when attempting this! Everyone take care! Also the “a” sound she mentions is called a release sound! It is used to emphasize the end of words (or consonants) so that it sounds clearer and you can understand the words better
Shotaro Lee if you are belting but on “sweet potato” mode it’s a different technique called full voice that is very similar Both can harm your voice tho so still everyone should be careful when practicing 💖
I think the sweet potato vs crow thing is more about the placement. Both are belting. Idina's technique is pretty bad so I guess you'd have to harm your voice to imitate her :|

The technical term for your “A!” technique is called shadow voweling. A lot of words have it but in music we make conscious decisions whether or not to use them. We tend to use them as a tool to accent the consonants directly before the shadow vowel. Example: unknown-A! Accents the “n” right before the “A!” (I of all ppl would kno Bc I STRUGGLE with consonants and my voice coach and choir directors r constantly yelling at me abt this lmao)

This technique that she calls “crow voice” is called Belting when you do the ‘screams’ ans is a technique Elsa’s voice actress popularized in musical theatre. However it is really hard and you can really hurt your vocal chords. Please Be careful when attempting this! Everyone take care!
Also the “a” sound she mentions is called a release sound! It is used to emphasize the end of words (or consonants) so that it sounds clearer and you can understand the words better

Shotaro Lee if you are belting but on “sweet potato” mode it’s a different technique called full voice that is very similar
Both can harm your voice tho so still everyone should be careful when practicing 💖

I think the sweet potato vs crow thing is more about the placement. Both are belting.
Idina's technique is pretty bad so I guess you'd have to harm your voice to imitate her :|
