  • When you add clients into a Basecamp project, you can choose what parts of the project they can see. This allows you to have internal discussions with your team right alongside conversations with your client while keeping things separated. In this video, Kimberly from Basecamp's Customer Success team walks through the benefits of working with clients inside of Basecamp, how to add clients into your Basecamp account, assign them to a project, and how to change the visibility of project elements.
    You can learn more about Basecamp's project management software at basecamp.com/

    Just used basecamp to develop a new website for a client. It took a bit to get them to use it instead of email, but once they started using basecamp it was great. ( also if they did mail I just used email forwarding to capture it in the project)

      Yessss! Once you get clients in Basecamp, you never want to go back. And +1 on the email forwards! -Kimberly

      Getting clients to use this instead was my very first thought. Some clients can be hard to persuade and this is a wonderful option for organizating.

    The ability to restrict a client's specific permissions within a project used to be part of the Classic version of Basecamp. Why was this removed? Without this feature, we are currently playing tug of war with clients who are either intentionally or unintentionally changing to-do's that we agreed to manage for them. We want them to see the to-do's and add their comments on them, but not edit or add to-do's since it can create confusion when they have not been formally approved. How can this be addressed?

    Excellent overview. I think I'll use the "client" category of user more in the future. 👍🏻

    Great video!
    Can a Client be changed into a full Employee??
    I have a choir member (‘Client’ who has been elected to the Management Team. But I only seem to be able to change them to ‘Outside Collaborator’, whereas I want them fully integrated as a ‘proper’ employee.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in anticipation 😊

      Thanks for watching! There is a way to change a client to an employee. It's a bit of a multi-step process, but our support team can help! Email them at support@basecamp.com and they'll walk you through it. I gave them a heads up you'd be reaching out. -Kimberly

      @@37signals I liked how you also cited examples for "non-client" use of clients too - now, how about a setting to name "client" within an account (e.g. volunteer, applicant, etc).

      @@jonbloor8661 - I have the same request! Great idea. "Client" definitely throws some people off when that context doesn't make sense for the project.

      @@37signals Is there any plan to allow renaming clients if needed? That would be great help as I literally have suppliers (the, well, exact opposite of clients) who I only want to share some documents with in a project that is HQ of my company. This flexibility would be really helpful indeed!

    Hi Kimberly, is there any way that my client cannot see who all are there on the project except me? As I don't want my client to know that I have a team.

    • @37signals
      @37signals  Год назад

      Hi there! Unfortunately there's not a way to "hide" who is on the project from others, including clients. You can choose what parts of the project clients see - like to-dos, messages, files - but there isn't a way to have people appear as if they're not on the project at all. Sorry that's not exactly what you want to hear! -Kimberly

    When you add a client. Do you have to pay for them as if they were another user?

    • @37signals
      @37signals  Год назад +1

      Hi Andrew! With our current pricing plan, there is no additional charge to add clients to your account. You only pay for team members on your account, not clients. - Kimberly
