hey, I am Japanese, and, since 2023 Janually I have been reading English books to learn English. 360 days ago I read "Anne of green gables", in other words, I could only read books for children. but now I'm read novels by Kazuo Ishiguro, who is nobel prize novelist(He was born in my country). I think my improvement is very good despite of my age(37) .The reason I have been able to maintain my reading habits is, of course, reading book is very interesting and fun. there are lots of lots of interesting books in the world.I think reading is an incredible great thing not only for learning but also for life.

This is an amazing story and one of the reasons why I love interacting with people like you. It's great to hear how transformative and informative reading has been for you. By the way, I really love Kazuo Ishiguro's The Buried Giant and Klara and the Sun. I will be reading some of his other works next year. Would you recommend any other Japanese authors other than him?

Thanks brother! I know most of the tips are probably quite obvious, but sometimes people just need a little reminder and a little nudge in the right direction.

Hey Matt, thank you for this video. Making it a bit more of a habit would be good for me, luckily I haven't cared about the numbers for years. I do want to put more intention in my reading. I have many interests but reading about a certain topic once every few years doesn't really work. I liked Tristan's idea about choosing one topic/field to read six books next year a very good idea. He talks about this in the video named: YOUR ULTIMATE 2024 READING GUIDE REVEALED

Yes, it's definitely a great way to go about doing it. And thanks for the video recommendation. I saw that he mostly talks about classic literature.

What I've been doing is reading 10 pages to 20 pages per day. I read 5 pages within 30 minutes or an hour (it depends on the writing style).

@ubik5453 That's a great habit as it ensures that you read something every day.
