      I remember encountering that Onix later on, and completely God-stomped it in one move using either Mewtwo or one of my Mew (I have two). My Mew-Mewtwo team has 8 moves that are designed to offer nearly 100% super-effective coverage. Really the only Pokémon up to gen 8 that escape this are...Tynamo, Eelektrik and Eelektross, simply by virtue of being electric monotype with Levitate. They're pretty weak, so a couple of Aura Spheres, Psystrikes, or other neutral moves will turn them into a rather effective floor mop.

    • @psychotheunsane7285
      @psychotheunsane7285 Год назад +1

      That's the usual strategy. Either that or use Nidoran's Double Kick (I think both genders get it). And besides, defeating Geodude would get you a level or two if you're lucky. This would help you tank Onix that much easier.

    It's silly how the Grovyle from the Route 110 rival fight isn't mentioned at all.
    Also yeah, Shroomish can take down Marshtomp, just bring a Guts Taillow for the foe's Shroomish.
    Against Brock, well I had the curiosity to go out of my way to Route 22, it's just that I didn't know about Low Kick. Besides it's not the only option, there's also Butterfree with Confusion and Nidoran with Double Kick (that one gets learned the most lately out of the three though). Besides if you still want to use Pikachu, you can brute force with Tail Whip along with Quick Attack. Also keep in mind that Onix's attack stat is meaningless.

    Allow me to nerd out a bit more: what really got me hooked on (both) stadium(s) was buying transferpaks and all the old skool games along with it. So I could build teams in r/b/y or g/s/c and then put them in stadium. And even trade with myself.
    xD It's loads of fun and I often revisit it with a new challenge for building a theme team for stadium.

      Gamblers spamming Guillotine, Fissure and Horn Drill...and hitting EVERY SINGLE TIME! I've lost entire teams to that garbage. To put it into perspective, hitting any of those moves six times in a row has odds of 1:242 (that is, 242 failures on average for every success). Yet the game pulls this off far more frequently than that. Proof that the game can manipulate its OWN RNG!
      Or where just ONE Sand Attack from the AI and suddenly I'm miss-miss-miss-missing everything. I could spam Sand Attack on the AI, though, and they just hit me like nothing's wrong. "Oh, was I supposed to have accuracy nerfs? I didn't even notice." *Proceeds to land their fifth consecutive critical hit*

      @@ethandobbs probably over Ultra Necrozma because Zygard is definitely tougher to beat and origin Giratina at level 100 is stronger than a level 70(I think) Necrozma

    I think that you're overstating the "less access to the internet for the 90s games" fact a little. We used magazine game guides and official books instead... or at least I did!
    Otherwise, well done on your research, you've done a lot of hard work here!

    I commented it on your top 10 video and I will mention it again. I think the male pokefan from the round 2 final Little cup battle in Pokemon stadium 2 should be on this list. He has a scyther and a chansey, two of the most broken pokemon in little cup at the time. If he uses scyther, you automatically lose the fight and have to try again. His chansey has counter and softboiled, which should tell you enough that any physical attack his chansey surives means an automatic one hit ko to your pokemon. He also has an elekid with thunderbolt, cross chop, ice punch, and psychic which is capable of hitting almost every pokemon super effectively and outspeeds pretty much every rental pokemon available.

    There’s a very easy way to beat Brock with Pikachu (albeit a fair amount of level grinding is required). First, use Double Team 6x. Second, use Tail Whip 6x. Third, use Quick Attack which will do decent damage due to minimizing Geodude’s defense (or, if you really want to go ham with level grinding, Slam works even better). Then do the same Tail Whip + Quick Attack/Slam combo again with Onix.

  • @psychotheunsane7285

    There is a fangame called PokéOne where you are forced into triple battles against trainers with up to EIGHTEEN Pokémon. Oh--and these Pokémon are sometimes *beyond* level 100.

    • @psychotheunsane7285
      @psychotheunsane7285 Год назад

      There is a way to kind of "cheese" those triple battles: you can have up to two friends join you in that battle, so you can have your six Pokémon and six for each of your friends--18 on 18 triple battles. A full-on tactical wargame. Not to mention that the AI governing the NPCs in PokéOne are often deviously smart--they'll switch their Pokémon if they sense YOU trying to make a switch, and will often "out-outmaneuver" you: you switch into what you think is a type or speed advantage...only to find out the AI countered by doing the same exact thing! Yes, in PokéOne, the AI does have the ability to read your entire team layout--movesets, what move(s) you're going to use, types, held items, abilities and even natures. Even scarier--the AI in those high-level (sometimes higher than 100!) battles will also use Pokémon who always have maxed out IVs and optimized EVs.
      Even worse than that: there are battles in holiday events that have "cruel" versions where the AI is allowed to have up to 400 EVs IN EVERY SINGLE STAT, on top of being sometimes up to level 130.

    People never mention how hard Dusty is to fight at Sunset Stadium in Pokémon Battle Revolution. He chooses from six Pokémon, but always has Lucario on his team. The other two are either Vigoroth, Gabite, or Grovyle. It took me seven attempts to finally beat him.

  • @SSJSwole

    Brock in Pokémon Yellow is extremely easy. Mankey isn’t the best choice either. The best choice is to catch a Nidoran(male or female, doesn’t matter) and train it up to learn double kick, a super effective move against Brock. When I first played it, I wasn’t aware of the Nidoran strategy, but I had a Butterfree that made it just as simple.
