    ❓ What's your favorite monthly dividend ETF? 💰 One from the list or a different one?

  • @jayd9613
    @jayd9613 2 года назад +5

    USOI!! I bought into it at the end of last year to start my dividend portfolio. I got really lucky with the timing and the oil prices increasing. I've made about 15% in dividends the past 3 months and over 20% in stock price accumulation! Love it. You do have to watch the dividend payout history and be ready for it to dissolve like REML but I think its worth the risk for now.

    I am building a dividend stream to help in my retirement. So far I have JEPI at 11.91 Div, JEPQ at 20.02 Div, GLO at 20.21 Div and BSTZ at 13.72. All of these are pretty low now so after this down period they will all have capitol growth without dripping back in. I will then add SCHD, VOO for more growth and some div. Last one i will add are QQQ and VTI for slow growth and low div. I think it is a well rounded portfolio and I fund it by slowly selling off Tesla, that I was an early investor in.

    I've got QYLD & RYLD, also 4 CEFs that I hope I've chosen well - ACP, OPP, RIV, & GOF. Most of my dividend stocks are ones you suggested and I did my own DD, which has improved over time (with mistakes, of course). Today I sold PBA (held since you recommended it, up 32%) to buy OPP. HRZN, O, STAG, & MAIN finish off the monthly payers, bringing my overall yield down to 8.87%. I also have a quarterly dividend account, built largely with the education you provided over the last 18 months (brand new in 2020) so that I'm now able to face getting old and relax with a small but livable income because of dividends and careful investing. My SS covers just a little more than what Medicare takes. Gratitude.

    Hold USA, RYLD and OHI. Prefer NUSI over QYLD altough it has a lower payout ratio. Will look into these other CEFs that you mentioned.

    I bought them in 2021 and they've made me a killing in divided. With energy up AMZA has really been solid.

    If you bought USOI at the start of Jan 2022, based on the first two distributions for Jan and Feb, the prorated dividend is 36%! Granted, I know there is no guarantee that the distributions will stay that high every month, but it’s hard to turn your nose at that return.

    Great video, very insightful and definitely more of a fail-safe strategy. I think the key is getting in ETFs and/or indexes to build an investment foundation. Once the foundation is built, go about trying to invest in individual stocks. However, when I do look into ETFs or indexes, I look to cover the broad market with both growth and value investments. VTI and VTSAX are my picks!

    The value of monthly income ETFs has depreciated over the time. That is the dividend trap. It will be better if you pick the SPY or QQQ and then sell put options to collect premium

    My favorite monthly dividend payer in my portfolio is OXLC. It's a CEF and struggles the way you mentioned (falling share price from inception and dividend cuts), but I lucked out and loaded up in 2020 right after they announced a 50% dividend cut and the price plummeted even more than in previous months. It's hard not to like a stock when I'm up over $3/share, get a decent monthly dividend that got an increase last year, and paid a special dividend at the end of 2021. I don't expect to see much more price appreciation over 2022, although the price fluctuates quite a bit the week leading up to and after the ex dividend date.

    • @elizabethjuracko1253
      @elizabethjuracko1253 2 года назад

      How's OXLC performing now?

    • @kasmn7504
      @kasmn7504 2 года назад

      @@elizabethjuracko1253 It is down close to $3/share since January and more than that since November 2021's highs.
      So far no dividend cut has been announced (and the dividend is why I invested in OXLC in the first place), but I wouldn'tbe blindsided by one if the market continuesto slide down.

    Hey Joseph, one of your recent videos had recommended ZIM shipping stock. The stock went up from 68 to 88 and then now down to 58. It has nothing to do with broader markets’ fluctuations. To pay the $17/share dividend the stock opened $17 lower on Mar 22, 2022. What’s up with that? This is total BS.
    Can you please revisit this stock in coming videos? It is definitely not a strong buy.

      That is how it works.... 1.00 dividend will = a 1.00 decrease in share price. !0 cent dividend will = a 10 cent decrease in share price. Money is being handed out and it will reflect in the share price.
