Oh my goodness. Why is there so few views on this? It deserves a thousand more. A beautiful song to start with. And this sweet man made it precious too.
Israel Kamakawiwo'ole ➖ 'Over The Rainbow' & 'What A Wonderful World' Medley You must listen so beautiful you will cry
The scene at the end was his funeral and the all loved him and celebrated his life and scattered his ashes. IZ, is short for his name. They say he recorded that song in one take. He struggled with his weight which eventually killed him. So sad for him with such a beautiful voice. 😊
That was the happiest man on earth, and he is so missed! Glad the song brought you joy as it has so many others.
Thanks, Pluto - the "big man" has the voice of an angel.. and is very well-known and widely revered in his native Hawaii.. the closer where he is sent back to the sea always brings emotion to me.. appreciate your listen...
Great Reaction 👍🙏😎and come on people this needs a few thousand more views, likes and comments 🙏
This is a cover of a song sung by Judy Garland in the 1939 movie Wizard of Oz. It was her signature song all her life. Iz’s version is equally beautiful in a whole different way. The instrument he’s playing is a traditional Hawaiian instrument called a ukulele. It gives the song an entirely different feel from the original. I didn’t find out about this until well after he had died, but I am so glad it was recorded and it lives on for the world to enjoy.❤
Respect man and don't keep stopping the song. Comment afterwards.
He was born in Hawaii in 1959, and passedin 1997 (38 years old) due to respiratory failure
Patty-You should check out his version of Wind Beneath My Wings. It will make you cry its so good.
Apparently, Israel was the inspiration for the Polynesian Maui in the movie Moana.
This was his funeral on the beach.....His ashes were in the jug the woman was holding up..
