Just from her little boucing back and forth you can tell how well her mind puts together these exagerated movements which makes animimation so alive. I love it! Glad she found a new art to dove into
Shes not bouncing around for nothing. Its called acting. Acting out the scene is what every good animator does it. Exaggerating is key to making the animation read better.
@@avidadolares Particularly, Disney was always big on using live motion and actual people and things to get a feel for how something might translate into movement in the animation. That's why they'd bring in actual animals to be observed by the artists for things like Lion King, or have someone actually posing or working out the movements while the artists draw, or even artists acting something out in the mirror so they can see how the body moves. It's especially important when you're trying to sort out how to do things like how a very human movement is going to work on a non-anthropomorphic animal (that little bit of her doing the dramatic, flourishing bow is from her work on Zazu, IIRC).
She's actually so respectable for leaving. Disney's CGI era has been nothing interesting like ever. The writing went downhill and the animation has been nothing groundbreaking.
Uhh huh…no. Just no. Disney has produced so many duds in 2D, and a lot of exceptional 3D movies too. The writing quality isn’t tied to the animation. Ppl who worked on Tangled were literally apart of the 2D Disney Renaissance. The animation is still good, and every film aims to do something new with new technology. And it’s not like Disney hasn’t reused its 2D animation too. Point is, the downward trend is less to do with animation and more to do with the executives in charge. It’s not a coincidence that Disney has been canceling or changing some of its best content in recent years.
@BelBelle468 Never said writing quality was tied to animation. Writing is almost always super important to whether a movie is enjoyable or not. Great animation with a bad/boring story doesn't = a good movie. Animation is a tool of expression. If you enjoy 3D animation that's great for you! The best 3d animation I've seen is the 3d that is trying to express itself as more 2d. The art style is very important to me, and majority of 3d projects have that very "basic pixar" style that really makes the actual well animated pieces few and far in between in the movies and harder to see. Not saying 2d animation doesn't have its duds, but there was almost always soul and passion in a lot of the movies because of how traditional it was and the massive amount of work being put in. Also, bad animation is just bad animation. Yeah of course higher ups and pay really does and will always affect the quality of their workers, but it doesn't change what is being seen by the audience.
"Never said writing quality was tied to animation." Then why did you phrase it like this? 😭 "Disney's CGl era has been nothing interesting like ever. The writing went downhill and the animation has been nothing groundbreaking."

Zootopia and Encanto were great and they're from the same director. It was also his idea to ask the women in the studio what they find attractive in a man and then incorporated that info into Flynn Rider's design. I think he's the last good director Disney has.
When they mention Disney, I always remember the old 2D cartoons. It's sad that Disney has lost that zest. When I say I love Disney , I mean good old Disney.😔
There's a LOT that Disney needs to go back to do the way they used to. If Walt suddenly came back and saw the way his company is being run, he'd IMMEDIATELY shut it down and fire pretty much all of the upper management.

I think y’all are failing to get that point that she didn’t “move on to something new”, she found she enjoyed 3D modeling so much more than drawing she decided to do it physically. while the CGI animation disney puts out is gorgeous, i feel like it lacks the refinement and beauty of hand animation, i just feel like you get to see so much more character and get so much more involved when it’s hand drawn, you can really see the effort and personality of the animator.

From hand drawn 2D animation, to 3D, to stone sculpting? This woman is a beast!
2D animation and 3D animation are both just types of animation, and stone sculpting is pretty much 3D animation without the animated part, so it's not really as impressive as it seems. It's kind of like being a pizza cook learning to make calzones and then becoming a bread chef.

You know how good and unique Talan’s movement is? I was playing Kingdom Hearts the other night, and just the frames they used for the loop of Tarzan running were so distinctive I knew they must have based them on the movie. He does not move like any other character in the game, just like Tarzan in that film doesn’t move like any other character up to that time, that mixture of actual gorilla movement and board sportsmanship is so unique. I don’t know if it’s THE best but it’s certainly an underrated gem; probably the last of the “Renaissance” or “New Golden Age” films, unless Mulan came later which I do not think it did

You could say the same for artists across most mediums. Technological advancements are handy and make sense on the business side, but there will always be a line where those handling the money will cross without a second thought. They don’t understand or value that artistic flourish within the brain that sparks big ideas.

Hand drawn is so unique and pretty, I’ll never get tired of how it looked.
"Never said writing quality was tied to animation."
Then why did you phrase it like this? 😭
