- What an amazing aircraft it is! The Pilatus PC6 is really pleasant to see, to hear and to fly on!!
Its performances are incredible: it climbs at 10 000 ft in 5 minutes, with a vertical speed about 1500 ft/minute!
The descent is also incredible: from 10 000 ft to the runway (500 ft) in just 3 minutes!! In a next video you will see those performances from the cockpit!! :D Stay tuned!

Quel avion incroyable! Le Pilatus PC6 est vraiment sympa à voir, à entendre, et c'est un plaisir de voler avec!!
Ses performances sont impressionnantes: il atteint 10 000 ft en 5 minutes, avec une vitesse verticale comprise entre 1500 et 2000 ft/minutes!
Le descente est tout aussi vertigineuse: il ne lui faut pas plus de 3 minutes pour passer du FL100 à 500 ft, avec un variomètre affichant 4500 ft/minutes!!
Dans une prochaine vidéo vous verrez ces performances depuis le cockpit!

Very impressive and rugged of this STOL old iron bird PC6.....🫡
I am an avid airplen buff. Normally, I am impressed with streamlining and "slick" like the amazing Pipers and the efforts by Cessna. But, there is something very appealing to me in the utilitarian designs of the Pilatus, the C-130, the Dehaviland Beavers, the Bombardier CL water bombers, the fantastic Catalinas - I don't know what it is that pleases me so much about the appearance of the so-called "ugly ducklings". I am just fascinated by them.
ACADMan - Like yourself I also have a love of the "ugly-ducklings" of the sky. While I admire the beauty of a Piaggio Avanti I very much admire aeroplanes that are designed with utility and practicality in mind. My all time favorite is the Consolidated PBY Catalina with the Antonov An-2 running a close second. My mother worked at Consolidated in San Diego during WWII and worked on the PBY's installing wiring and piping. She was a tiny thing so she got the tasks that nobody else could squeeze into and she told me the PBY was all sharp corners and had the scars to prove it. She loved working on them and thought they were "just the ticket". I'm still hoping to go for a flight in one before I leave the planet.
The Britten-Norman Trilanders and De Havilland Twin Otters are me favourite smaller aeroplanes.
It's a true STOL beast,...perhaps the best on the planet.
Amazing aircraft. There used to be a chap at Southend Airport who owned one (Laddie Marmol) He got up to some amazing tricks. He once flew from Southend to Kidlington in Oxfordshire. He called up Kidlington and they asked his position, Directly overhead at 4,000ft he replied. Then did a falling clover leaf onto the airfield. Followed by taxiing backwards to the apron.
I'm not sure I never flew one but I think you could pull reverse on the prop in flight. That would help a lot doing that trick.

It's a turboprop engine.
It's so slow , a bird strike will be from behind , tough plane , should change cockpit a bit, it's 2016 lol

Turbine engine..... not turbo. Turbos are exhaust drivin air compressors, like superchargers. Turbins are modified jet engines that spin a prop shaft. Basic but important difference.
By the way, they fly beautifully. Lots of power and STOL performance. Very comfortable to fly in slow steep bank turns, climbs incredibly and descends the same. I flies slow better than almost anything else, but cruises at 115 knots, descends at 125 knots. That is respectable. It can carry just over a ton of cargo. The variable pitch prop is reversible so you can power break with the turbine. It is a work horse for remote flying. If you understand it, it is beautiful. Very beautiful.
A turbo shaft (free turbine) engine uses expanding gases acting upon compressors , stators and turbines .
They are one in the same.... Lemme know when you take your PT-6 course
