The concept for the may pole is awesome but it would definitely be hard to explain a ghoul the size of a red wood tree when even super mutant behemoths only get 20 feet tall.

I would imagine they would have put her out in the glowing sea, perhaps living in the earth of the glowing sea where it's most irradiated, And perhaps yes a giant amalgamation of other glowing ones. Maybe even find out that the glowing sea is Maypole curled up asleep? Would have loved to see that boss right

    • @Seth-Halo
      @Seth-Halo 9 месяцев назад +61

It would be very easy to explain. Not everyone becomes ghouls. So the May Pole could just be an even rarer variation of ghoul.
Or it could be a ghoul exposed to FEV. Or alternatively it could have been a normal human exposed to FEV. They don't always become Super Mutants. Harold became something of a Ghoul after he fell into a vat of FEV.
Honestly explaining it would be the easiest thing to do.

or maybe the may-pole could be just a static creature like harold from fallout 3
the glowing monstrosity wouldn't move because it's fused to the ground thanks to the mutation, but the ghouls themselves would attack the protagonist and defend the large glowing one
and once they're all dead, may-pole would have to be killed using some sort of special method
from spraying the ghoul with a large amount of a mixture that's rad-x and radaway mixed together to building a special version of an artillery to destroy the ghoul

Could've had the Maypole and a giant Death claw fight in the fog of the Glowing Sea. Player finds a viewpoint that shows a cut of their fight in the distance. Going in their direction brings more viewpoints that follow their fight deep into the glowing sea. Eventually, you find their bodies, horribly mangled and radioactive, crawling with smaller super mobs all around. Would be a great reference to the first game's big footprint, too.

A monstrosity that is only able to survive in extremely radioactive conditions. Briefly seen far off into the distance, just barely moving due to it’s massive and heavy body. The glow storms are when it’s most active, it’s eyes will shine brighter than any glowing creature as it moves ever so slightly quicker. A being no man nor machine can reach, and one that walks where many would fall. The result of a mass of glowing horrors, all melded into one being that has mutated and morphed into one imposing figure. The Maypole.

Im literally wondering why we dont have the maypole in Fallput 76 yet. Here is how I would go about it.
    1. Maypole is incredibly irradiated. The closer you are to it, the more rads you get, comparable to the ones you get in Eviction Notice. Deadly, but nothing some Rad-Aways cant fix.
    2. It has an AOE radiation attack that deals massive Rad damage to the surroundings, comparable to the ones in Radiation Rumble. This will 100% kill you if your a bloodied player.
    3. It has stomps and kicks attacks that make a plasma grenade like explosion when they hir the ground. This deals both radiation and exploaive damage.
    4. Periodically spawns Bloated Glowing Ones Around her.
    5. The fight is broken off into stages much like the Ultracite Titan, breaking a limb from the creature at each stage, since the Ghouls have a lot of broken limb animations to use.
    6. Upon defeat drops a rare type of Glowing Blood, which can be used to create a potent healing item.

"A prequel to Fallout 4 that was set in a snow-covered Commonwealth"? Do you mean that someone actually published an expansion for the Fallout RPG that sounds to be an explicit copy of FROST?
For those who don't know, FROST was a full overhaul game mod for FALLOUT 4 that used the same game engine yet used an entirely new storyline & heavily modified setting. Instead of beginning 200 years after the Great War, FROST takes place just a few years after the bombs fell, with the Commonwealth gripped by constant radiation during a nuclear winter. Some creatures had yet to mutate to their later full size (tiny Mirecrabs instead of large Mirelurks) & the majority of the population is forced to live underground due to constant radiation; surface travel requires breathing masks to block fallout. Does this sound like the RPG expansion mentioned?

Nukes have a small radius around the point where it hits that is so close to it that everything in that radius is pretty much instantly destroyed so I think you could use that as a point of such high radiation that one of the mangled bodies was mutated so horribly it become a giant mass of flesh that stalks the glowing sea

The May Pole doesn’t sound like an enemy that should be used for a single mission - it sounds like an entire game should be built around it - or a quest line at the BARE MINIMUM. Can you imagine a threat to the wasteland so large that it forces the BoS, Enclave, Raiders, and Vault Dwellers to work together to bring it down? Maybe even other factions too?
