awesome video idea bro!! no one is really stepping outside of there content comfort zone (and for good reason being that perth is a challenge in itself) this will make for some amazing content to come and im keen to see how this series pans out.....might even copy teehee (with credit of course) hahahaha
thanks man! was writing a comment on your video when i saw this aha. I find making something unique the most difficult part about making fishing videos so this series was mostly made as a way to not just put out videos that have been done before.
@ you’re damn right in saying that man. And even if you have a completely original idea its very hard to execute alot of the times due to perths really slow fishing You definitely achieved that broski ive never seen something like this done before. Kudos to you man
Good to have you back. Great topic too. Would you be able to do a short vid on your line weights. Info about leaders and best weights for your soft plastics ?
thanks man- i like to fish light. for bream and tarwhine, unless i'm fishing VERY tight structure i'll use 4lb leader (a couple of arms length for treble hooked lures and one arm length for soft plastics). i'll run 5 or 6lb around very heavy strcutre or if im targeting silver trevally / small samson fish in the river, also if im targeting flathead. lighter than most but, unless you use very small soft plastics, 6lb for flathead will rarely give you a problem. for bream, i'll default to 1/16th ounce jighead and if there's not much current i'll go lighter even down to 1/40th at times with the right plastic. if there's a lot of current e.g a bridge on a running tide i'll go to 1/12th if need be. you can go to 1/8th if necessary, probably best to slow roll on the bottom when using 1/8th as the hopping motion can be a bit fast and jarring for the bream. for most other bread and butter fish species in perth, a 1/12th or 1/8th jighead is fine and it allows you to fish faster with better casting distance (e.g flathead fishing) braid wise, stick to 0.6PE (equivalent of 6lb in daiwa j braid and shimano kairiki, but more expensive braids will have a higher breaking strain for the same line width (PE is basically a measurement of diameter)). PE0.8 or 1 is good for tailor off the beaches etc, PE1-2 for salmon, bonito etc off jetties, beaches and maybe rockwalls. its 4am so may have missed something but there you go :)
I was on holiday beach fishing for flathead or flounder at Moore river, slowly making my way up the beach. About half an hour in a bloody shovel nose shark took my lure not 4 feet from where I was standing. Almost needed fresh underwear!
Close to where I live. I've never caught a flounder before, and I didn't know that spot was good for them. Great vid. I've caught Breem, Cobblers, Flatheads, Tailor and yellowtails.......also plenty of blowies and the occasional trumpeter. You've got to try for Mulloway, but you need time and an obsessive streak to get them.
thanks mate! going for some more elusive like giant herring at the moment for episode 2 but failing that will be going for some more bread and butter fish. thanks for watching :)
aha thanks mate, have already been planning the next ep. loving the land based vids mate good to see. In fact, maybe make a few bad videos thanks you're making me look bad 😄
thanks mate, I only started fishing at 18 or so, my dad hates fishing. No need to be born a fisherman as long as you put in a bit of effort to learn :)
Looking forward to ep 2. Might be relatively easy to catch a Harlequin on a trip down south? While you're at it, maybe add in Blue Groper, Marron and Abalone while you're at it?
thanks mate, have considered whether I should expand the series the series beyond Perth, i think i'll target those species when i head down there as a sort of bonus side quest. episode 2 should be out on the weekend
great to see you back into it man i knew a vid had to be coming after i seen you down at the canning bridge a few weeks back, looking forward to seeing the series mate!
i'm very disorganised so probably dont have as much as i should, i was even using nail clippers as pliers in this video aha. braid scissors and a delicate pair of pliers are probably the most under used things in people's tackle boxes.
Great to see you back mate - love the goal! Maybe a couple of subsets for thought: Crustaceans/cephalopods - pretty common fare in Perth - only if you want to go beyond fish of course 😅 Again, good to see another vid
thanks mate! think youve made a typo but flatties are pretty much everywhere in the river, especially on sand flats with some weed patches and preferably a nearby dropoff. point walter, point roe and freshwater bay are good places to try
you should show the location and the name of fish when you caught it and also what bait is best for it that way it will be very educational (i am very new btw - not started fishing yet but learning)
oh and by the way, when i'm fishing in Perth i don't usually catch much on lures, am i using the wrong ones, what do you recommend? (looking forward to a part 2)
What about carp and or koi. I haven't fished in a decade but all of a sudden I've gotten myself a light rig and decided I'm gna try catch one in a reserve or river been out once with no luck , ps don't think I'ma catch any but will spend as much time as possible trying lol
sounds like a plan! on the fence about carp because i'm hesitant to promote fishing in an area with no fishing allowed, which a lot of carp spots in Perth seem to be (from my understanding but could be wrong). If I can find a spot that allows fishing i'd be happy to add carp or koi to the list!
oh really, will have to have a look. i've tried to catch in the run off there by the beach but felt like I was going to grow a third eye by just being there.
hey mate glad to hear your nan is so into fishing, it was lower-mid river off stirling hwy. people get upset if i name spots so she'll have to figure the rest out but google earth will do the trick
You could add mullet? I've caught a few on lures in the canning river over the years. Also, not native and I question the legality of finding them, Murray Cod.
Mundaring weir has monster Murry cod , water temperature is wrong they can't breed but the previously stocked are huge of course it's illegal and monitored by drones . Old ranger told me years ago..
people get upset if i name spots but go to the nicest, leafiest streets in the Perth Metropolitan area , drive to the nearest bay and you will be at this spot
definitely tempted to add it to the list if i can find spots that you're allowed to fish :) I try not to promote fishing spots that the local council bans fishing at but i'd be keen to catch a carpio
Glad to see you back mate, The Rev and Twitchfreak never disappoints looking forward the Ep 2
haha thanks mate she goes alright hey, will film ep 2 in the next couple of weeks :) shame this week's weather is no good
Excellent video, Thank you.
So happy you posted again !!!
Great to see tarwhine and flounder caught. You could probably add skippy, garfish, cobbler and octopus.
thanks mate, added :)
Really good idea, really hope you finish this goal!
So stoked to see you back man your what got me into land based fishing, keep it up!
Thanks! Will do!
Welcome back, hope you had a good break, we still here ;)
hah thanks mate, good to see :)

New here, great epp and look forward to seeing more.
thanks mate! going for some more elusive like giant herring at the moment for episode 2 but failing that will be going for some more bread and butter fish. thanks for watching :)
@@LightTackleAnglerWA I foul hooked one ( giant herring) on a blade lure at kent street weir , Was very surprised . Good luck!!
Welcome back, I always really enjoy your content 👍🏻

Welcome back bro, I have been waiting for your video for so long. Thanks mate

nice. i love fishing but im really bad at it so its nice to watch what could be if i were born a fishman.

great to see you back into it man i knew a vid had to be coming after i seen you down at the canning bridge a few weeks back, looking forward to seeing the series mate!
thank you my friend!
Would love to see you add Carp to the list 😂. You can get them pretty easily in the upper canning.
will do :)
so happy u finaly posted bro
:)
Great to see you back to post! Would you recommend any nice spots to catch southern calamari?
thanks mate, the freo rockwalls are good for squid especially in low light conditions and /or clean water
happy to see you posting again
thanks mate!
do more challenges like this, we love them
thanks mate!
One of ur best vids yet
thanks mate
you missed the mighty silver ghost - the mulloway! great video series idea btw
that one was on the list - definitely up there with giant herring as the most prized species for me!
Master skills brother let’s go 👍🏼 can’t wait to see the completion !!! 🔥❤️🔥🔥😎👌🏼
Btw new sub 😊🤙🏼
thanks man
!
As a new beginner to fishing, could you share a video of what's in your tackle box?
i'm very disorganised so probably dont have as much as i should, i was even using nail clippers as pliers in this video aha. braid scissors and a delicate pair of pliers are probably the most under used things in people's tackle boxes.

Again, good to see another vid
thanks man, have been checking in on your channel during my time off :). Good suggestion, will add Blue Swimmer and possibly cuttlefish to the list!
Welcome back mate
thanks mate!
Yes! The GOAT is back, can't wait for more bro.
haha thanks man
I’ve been waiting so long for another post and this was worth the wait banger vid keep up the great work you inspire me ❤
thank you so much my friend!
@ all good mate your a legend I’m so happy you replied
I got most of my Tarwhine catch at canning bridge.
yeah probably the best spot for them, but i wanted to target them specifically rather than 50/50 chance of bream or tarwhine
Cracking video good to see you back at it, could maybe add carp/koi/goldfish, silver perch and drummer. those buggers go hard
thanks man, will make a few additions :)
It's so nice to have someone fish in my local area, also can I know what the swan you get flatties. I really wanna try get some this summer
thanks mate! think youve made a typo but flatties are pretty much everywhere in the river, especially on sand flats with some weed patches and preferably a nearby dropoff. point walter, point roe and freshwater bay are good places to try
Thanks a lot, really appreciate it@@LightTackleAnglerWA
Just yesterday i caught a flathead in the swan river with soft plastic so it is possible!
Maybe salmon trout I know you get a few around Rockingham. Great idea by the way
good suggestion! thanks mate will try in Rockingham or mandurah
Think that first Tarwhine had one too many 😂 Great video mate!
😂😂😂
you should show the location and the name of fish when you caught it and also what bait is best for it
that way it will be very educational (i am very new btw - not started fishing yet but learning)
was the flounder like in-between the canning bridge and the rowing pavilion I fish there quite a bit
Giant herring coming into season👀
will be chasing them for sure!
try topwater whiting in the mandurah estuary, south yunderup has a boat ramp that has heaps of flats you can walk out to and find hundreds of whiting
also has crabs
and the boat ramp has cobbler at night
thanks man, definitely high on the to-do list! thanks for the tips i'll put them to use
Great video man! What combo are you using by chance?
thanks mate, i'm using a millerods twitchfreak with a daiwa revelry 2000s :)
oh and by the way, when i'm fishing in Perth i don't usually catch much on lures, am i using the wrong ones, what do you recommend? (looking forward to a part 2)
what fish are you targeting
@@LightTackleAnglerWA Mostly flathead, sometimes bream
What about carp and or koi. I haven't fished in a decade but all of a sudden I've gotten myself a light rig and decided I'm gna try catch one in a reserve or river been out once with no luck , ps don't think I'ma catch any but will spend as much time as possible trying lol

Try go for carp I know there are a few in some lakes near the abandoned power station in Coogee
oh really, will have to have a look. i've tried to catch in the run off there by the beach but felt like I was going to grow a third eye by just being there.
You could also go to jackadder lake for carp
Hi, I just moved to Perth and live near to Swan River. Could you recommend some good fishing spots please?
Hey mate where’s the flounder spot if u don’t mind 😅 they’re my nans fav
hey mate glad to hear your nan is so into fishing, it was lower-mid river off stirling hwy. people get upset if i name spots so she'll have to figure the rest out but google earth will do the trick
You could add mullet? I've caught a few on lures in the canning river over the years. Also, not native and I question the legality of finding them, Murray Cod.
good idea, will add mullet :). vaguely remember reading an article about a murray cod in a Perth pond, will have to look into it. Thanks mate!
Mundaring weir has monster Murry cod , water temperature is wrong they can't breed but the previously stocked are huge of course it's illegal and monitored by drones . Old ranger told me years ago..
@@robertmooney921 interesting! have seen a bloke on youtube catch redfin there, probably had no idea he wasnt supposed to be there
Hes back
I saw your fishing rod on facebook marketplace, what were you going to buy when you sell the twitchfreak?
changed my mind actually, not selling it, was thinking of buying with the money but no longer
What are the best places in perth to target flounder?
east freo to claremont
Where are you fishing next episode?
not sure yet, will see if i can tick off a giant herring but if not then will go for some bread and butter species maybe
Is their lots of flathead at that spot aswell?
fair few yep, theres flathead all over the lower- mid river up as far as maylands and beyond.
Hey, do you know were/what area of Perth you were fishing

posting again🔥
Carp?
what was that first tarwhine on?
Looks like a cranka crab
that first fish was on something
😆
👍
yes sir!
Could you give me lures that would cover every type of fishing for river
soft plastics- 3" for flathead, 2.5" for bream, skippy, tarwhine. start with 1/16th jighead and size up or down depending on depth and current.
Was this Mosman bay ?
I used to fish there as a kid
not far from it but not quite. people get annoyed if i mention spots but you're close
@ why would people get annoyed it’s just fishing 🎣
Hey I just got a rev and it is spinning both ways do you know how to fix it
seems you didnt screw in the handle properly
Yacht club near canning bridge a black red and purple blade lures thank me later
Dhufish would have to be the most prized land based fish thats not on your list.
oof that would be a challenge!
What kind of rod is that ?
millerods twitchfreak
Mulloway?🤔
on the list :)
Episode 2???
That bream was so dumb lol
not the brightest fella
try to catch a 70cm carp. i know some spots if u want
definitely tempted to add it to the list if i can find spots that you're allowed to fish :) I try not to promote fishing spots that the local council bans fishing at but i'd be keen to catch a carpio
@@LightTackleAnglerWA try sterling civics gardens. ive fished there and caught a 65cm
blowie
difficult
Great challenge. Waiting very eagerly for the next video. Got any idea when it will be coming?
thanks mate, should be out on the weekend :) theoretically could be before but i don't like to rush editing
