The arrestee in this video even touched on it when he said something about Redbull coming up as cocaine and coffee showing as heroin. Many police departments have stopped using these roadside tests altogether because of the false yields resulting in lawsuits. Regardless if this man was telling the truth or not, that knowledge matched with his convincing gave the cops enough pause to entertain him for a while.

When I smoked cigarettes I'd keep one of those mini torches in my car. It's easier to light when there's a draft, they're harder to lose, etc

Im only to the test kit part of this but he possibly could be telling the truth. Some ointments for pain contain hemp oil and will test positive for marijuana, or thc on these reactivity tests. It needs to be tested further by a drug lab to be sure.
On the other hand, they are right by saying he should have it in the original container to avoid this situation
