I always ask , why is it so hard for music gear makers nowadays to improve what was available 20+ years ago . MPC, Electribes, Yamaha & Roland Groove boxes, workstations; could create entire songs… Every new music device seems hampered with limitations. No sequencers, low storage, needs to be plugged to a computer, no battery options, weird cables, bad GUI, etc etc … Like here’s an idea Korg, Yamaha, Roland, Akai. GREAT ad for Elektron, gang! 😂 Otherwise, could you start coming up with new ideas? Enough retreads already. You've already demonstrated that you can't come up with new tech, and certain of those "retreads" have done more damage to Korg's brand than anyone would've expected. You also have created some amazingly forward-thinking gear over the years...but not as of late. Instead, QC is slipping and some moronic, brand-killing nonsense pops up on a semi-routine basis, often in EPIC fashion. I'm sure Uli Behringer appreciates how the 2600 release went, because your version wound up selling LOADS of THEIR 2600s when it became clear that the 2600FS was only supposed to be for "certain people", according to your UK offices. OK, so here's this thing of yours. Next to three different Elektron boxes which is FUNNY AF because parts of their ideas stemmed from the Electribes, but I digress... So, after watching a swirly finger-drag ASMR intro and going some further into the clip, I just quit. There was nothing new here. There was nothing there that couldn't have been done with some simple DAW voodoo...and in fact, those results could outpace the KAOSS by a few degrees of magnitude. This is what happens when you try to retread decades-old tech and pass it off as something new and amazing. For $1k. Hey, Korg...did you bother to check what used Kaoss pads go for on eBay? Or is this the ARP 2600 business model at work on the pricing? Which then forces the question of "Is this the FS or M version?" You know...the difference between getting something good but pointlessly expensive, and the 2nd-string cut-down version. The one you don't want, y'know? I can't tell. Nor do I have any assurances that you're not already working on a "mk II" that'll stomp this one about 6 months later (see also the Minilogue XD). So why this thing? The Elektron boxes are doing the heavy lifting, apparently from what it looks like here. And that leaves you with a stoner toy that costs a grand. Seriously...if that's NOT the case here, putting three other similar but non-Korg devices in with it sure as hell makes it seem that way. Especially when the KAOSS is being, uh..."fingered" and it's obvious at that point that there just might be a lot LESS to this new box than meets the eye. And you used to make really good, capable, and innovative gear. I have quite a bit of it. But, like Yamaha and their slavish devotion to Chowning's FM patents...which, when they kept doubling-down on FM many years after the DX7 launch. The DXs were excellent. But did we deserve 20 years of no further synthesizer development after that? Nope. Here's a hint: you made some truly cutting-edge gear in the MS range. Some of it, however, has become pricey unobtanium, such as the MS50 or the VC10. They're Korg designs, and with modular synths being what they are now, they would garner quite a bit of attention. Also remember that the MS20M is still a thing with a big installed base...I have two of them myself. But that's on you. Although I think you might want to consider what your USERS want instead of "what can we put out for $xxxx and get away with"-style corporate logic. Because if that's the designated course here, it'll just take one global monetary freakout to wipe Korg out...and even as POed as I've been with Korg in the past few years, I don't want the company to have that happen to it. If there's one "Korg item" that needs reissuing, it should be to reissue the innovative AF Korg company that many of us loved...sometimes across decades. Right now ain't cutting it.
Full disclosure: I have a Korg WaveState, Modwave, and an Opsix. I love them, they are great synthesizers. They came out with the Wavestate SE, at a $2 700 CAN, two to three times more than a Wavestate ! Then, this at $ 999 US, which translate to $ 1 399 CAN ? Sorry, Korg, your marketing department is completely incompetent, they need to be fired OR send them on a trip where they can see how simple folk like me are making music. Come on Korg, a USB-C port to be used only with your power supply, and an other USB port for MIDI? When we compare the features at $ 1 399, I can buy two Roland SP404MKII. Or even better, a Digitakt, the silver 25th anniversary edition! 😛
DJS-1000 didn't get discontinued in 6 months or less (it has been out for 5 years or something), doubt this will either, but only time and the disc jockeys will tell.
how about a multitrack portastudio w/ waveform display for complete touch screen editing, 32bit float, dante I/o .. . what’s going on @korg berlin what a flop
I believe you mentioned audio over USB-C as well as loading samples over USB-C, but from what I’ve seen on Korg’s site and other reviews, it seems the USB-C port is only for power, and those functions are handled by a micro USB-B port.
I will wait, and wait, and wait to get this for under 500 or I will not be getting this but I do want this. What I really want is a good kaoss pad with a lot more effects and maybe not the rest of the other stuff.... I have other equipment for those things... so you could just chop this looper stuff off of it, I don't need a kaoss pad with a groove box attached I have too many groove boxes, its not worth pay that much money. I know the nt-3 is out there, but I want a lot more from a kaoss pad. I really like the one for garage band but garage band is mehhh... I just want a good kaoss effects box which can create little breaks and ways to transfer to the next songs... I will buy one and accept all the features it comes with maybe I would use them... but its not the price I want it for, so I just don't need this enough to pay the price its at. my 707 has a lot of performance effects, but I like the x,y axis type of effect between 2 different effects than only a kaoss bad can do. I am sure I can find software to do this if I really need it, but I really just want a KORG branded kaoss pad with more effects than this and less of the other stuff so just make it 300-400 and you will have a ton of people living up to buy them... and you need to hire me as a consultant.

I do all this in a cracked Ableton DAW and some 3 Hand Controller all under 100 Bucks
Lol
Did you steal the laptop also? Lol
Well a thief is a thief,,
faders not crossfaders.
Like anything Kaoss! 👍🔊👍
Kinda cool
If this had features comparable to the octatrack,.. it would justify the price,.. and be a hit.
This will be discontinued in 6 months or less.
Make this thing a groovebox and Im in.
You guys make synths and drum machines. You make samplers. Put everything in one box, pls
Like most of these things I'll probably end up with it second hand 10 or 20 years later.
$500 and I’m a buyer. Guess I’ll wait for a second hand.
DJS-1000 or the Toraiz SP-16 might make you happier.
can it sample while playing ???
Ye
I am team Korg all day. I truly want to see them win and be successful, but "at first glance the kaoss replay appears to be tickng all the boxes," 😢
It looks like an mpc with a kaoss glued to it... Crazy, bet the price is affordable ✌️😭
I believe you mentioned audio over USB-C as well as loading samples over USB-C, but from what I’ve seen on Korg’s site and other reviews, it seems the USB-C port is only for power, and those functions are handled by a micro USB-B port.
This is true.
This is a sort of a cross between an SP and an MPC.
lol sp404 mk 2 + kaospad mini beats this by far and is half the price here in europe
@14:14 "This sounds...... ah-mazing."😢
Looks nice, but the price is really to high, it has going 4 times since the KP3
I never heard of a headphone input before. ??
Input socket for headphone jack/ audio output
@@richardwilliams1310 no... its strictly an output! 😀
If this thing would've had a sequencer and chromatic/scales on the pads, I would've been sold on it. 😕
404 fighter?
