I’ve been using pipe weld type of cement, since EMA plastic weld isn’t available here in Sweden (as far as i can tell), giving good results, but it’s thick and messy. Not a problem since I’m build a Sandtrooper armour, and it’s going to be weathered, but I’ve ordered a bottle of plastic weld from eBay for the next job. Thanks for the tip, Richie!
Sorry to get back to you so late but pipe cement is a good option. Works the same as any solvent-based solution. I just find the plastic weld I have really quick and efficient.

Could you use Everbuild P16PIPE P16 Plumbers PVC Pipe Cement
Bonding PVC and ABS non pressure pipes to themselves and each other.
I’ve been using an ABS cement meant for plumbing, plastic pipes, and it works just fine, but it’s thick and messy, and requires a lot of care.
