It looks like if you hold R2 (spirit slash) it charges your spirit meter. If you hold it long enough you can release it into the spirit roundslash to level up your guage whenever you want. Great showcase, man!
DG off rip I'm jealous but holy shit LS looks so smooth. LS being faster and red meter adding to our moveset is so dope. We can reposition any direction too. I gotta say LS looks like it has a bit more burst damage and less commitment so overall it will be better but we r gonna have to learn the optimal way to play. I'm just glad it's not cattered to a playstyle like rise was so we won't be sitting waiting for counters. Frostcraft LS is fun for a few hunts but LS is meant to be a combo weapon with counters in between and that's what we have seen so I'm happy. Im not usually exited for Games before they come out or even really games in general these days😭, but i started playing mh series when world came out, loved it on ps4, got a pc and started over loved it, tried rise put only like 300h in it then went back to world, this game reminds of world and I’m so happy and exited for this, can’t wait for it’s release. Day 1 cop for sure!!

yea the R2 hold slash seems op, it can skip doing normal spiritslash combo entirely and level your gauge. So just R2(hold) twice and youre in red, do helmbreaker+followup>R2(hold)>helmbreaker+followup>R2(hold)>helmbreaker+followup>R2(hold)>helmbreaker+followup
Are we going to talk about you phasing through the monster trying to helm split? I understand it is still early days but that def needs to be fixed. Otherwise, I love how all the weapons are looking including my go to longsword. Helm splitter cancels/follow up, along with spirit gauge leveling/spending, iai counter leveling gauge, and added benefits to being in red. Everything looks like it flows so well, no odd pauses in between moves, and the spirit move cost are logical. Can't wait to play! PS: Thanks for the gameplay and rundown. You went into everything I wanted to know about the changes. Cheers!
LS looking crispy! Guttered no creators got any hammer gameplay. We saw some from the director but he was kinda joking around and we only saw the basic charge attacks
I can't wait to play this game! Spent hours on world and icebourne and now this game will get a whole lot of hours of my time to perfect these weapons to the next level.
I played LS today at gamescom, its was overwhelming cause I had only 30 mins, but it was very smooth and nice. Can't wait for it. Also the game feels more immersive than World to play, which is a BIGGG plus for me, I wish they release a demo soon.
Woah, Long Sword FINALLY looks really cool. I'm sorry but I've always felt like the weapon lacked an identity for the most part. It's needed new moves for such a long time. Might actually pick it up this game in a subsequent playthrough. Gotta say, Capcom has done such a wonderful job making (almost) all the weapons really exciting. R.I.P Helicopter Glaive lol

1. Can you roll out of special sheath? 2. Is the special sheath stance timer still 5 seconds? 3. Can you chain special sheath after hitting a iai Spirit Slash counter? 4. Can you still cancel Foresight into special sheath/ Helmbreaker?
Those are my deep questions I doubt I find the answers from watching noobs play. Iai Spirit Slash counter is hard to hit because of the 5 seconds before the hunter ends the stance, I doubt they let us chain iai since it was pretty busted in rise. Rolling out is a must it's a quality of life changing I doubt they go back on. Canceling Foresight is to this day an advanced technique I doubt I see it in a stream of the game... Please I need answers!!! This is driving me insane 🫨😵💫😭

Amazing coverage! I didn’t know you could cancel attacks with that focus charge thing, so I definitely learned something from your videos compared to many other people’s. You probably couldn’t test it out in time, but I am wondering if the timing for Iai Spirit Slash will be strict like World or lenient like Rise. Iai Spirit Slash is my favorite move from Long Sword. Can’t wait to play this game!
A beautiful gameplay, showing a lot of advanced possibilities. A lot of positives things for this weapoon. But in negative , first, hope they’ll speed up the iai slash, less impacting compared than world. And next, this negative point is the positive point at same time: As main LS user, I know it’s an incredible weappon, very easy to use (and hard to master perfectly)… and I love all new moves but at same time I’m a little bit nervous about the simplicity , even more simplicity .. I think LS main are like me
Confirming a failed Iai slash not removing a gauge was the biggest takeaway from this video for me. I wonder if the super armor still works though. Glad to know it will still feel familiar when I pick the controller up. I curious to see the new fancy side stepping slashes. It seemed to reposition quite well on a different demo
So after ISS, we have the option of Spirit Thrust or Spirit Blade 3, meaning we skip 1 n 2. Thats great, coz its not as OP as in Rise while not as restrictive as Iceborne.

With the whole "faster and slower" thing, I feel like it's generally faster than worldborne but the new tools and adjustments make it feel more methodical as well, thus the slower feeling at the same time. Just a guess from what I'm seeing and hearing though. Can't wait to be feeling it though 🤤🤤🤤😩😩
The circular red slashes are only doable when the sword is red, at that moment it was yellow. But also in red it's not mandatory to do the follow up, it needs an input after landing the helm splitter.
After spirit thrush to spirit release combo they should have put another move to continue the attack its weird looking when he put the sword on the back and he can only roll.
Question about the red gauge: it feels like your moves are so powerful when you reach red gauge. Is it better to helm split as quickly as possible, or to take advantage of the boosted attacks for a little bit before finishing with the helm split? I feel like a lot of gameplay has been showing people going immediately for the helm split? Would like to hear your thoughts!
I just hope that my helm breaker does keep getting interrupted when I am clearly higher than the monsters attack under me and it knocks me out of it. I just started MHR and I am experiencing this left and right and its frustrating. Like, I am 20 feet above you and your left to right arm sweep is knocking me out of the air. That's so stupid. I hope there is improvement in WILDS for this.
With all the maneuverability longsword has now, monster with really accurate and tight attack like velkhana and alatreon are never gonna hit us without a lot of AoE and sweeping as well as really fast attack. . End game wild is gonna sunbreak territory of fast and twitch

It's such a small detail but I love the fact that the monster bodies are actual physical objects you can stand on now like in DD2

I feel we are too strong to use it on Helm breaker only. From my playtime, I would stay in red longer before committing to Helm breaker.
