Nano-etched screen only on 1 & 2Tb options. Slightly different chip on 1 & 2TB versions. 16Gb RAM on 1 & 2TB versions. My current iPP is 2016 3rd Gen so I'm going to upgrade but some of the stats didn't really seem that impressive. Still, this one will last me another 8 years, I hope.
I’d say it was because of the oled technology finally being implemented for it. What made the iPad special was Steve Jobs and Johnny Ives and his teams
11 inch is $899 w/education discount. It’s pretty damn impressive for that price. This is Apple’s best hardware they sell and probably the best value (if you don’t go crazy)
On thing to watch out for - with Tandem OLED, if it develops a burn in, instead of that pixel going ‘blah’, it might look dull for that pixel since there are technically two pixels for each. Interesting to see
What they really need is a new “magic” keyboard that’s more like a headless MacBook Pro. When it iPad Pro is attached it displays full MacOS. When it iPad is removed, it goes back to iPad OS. I have yet to fully max out my iPad Pro, M2. I run logic what a ton of plug-ins and software instruments without breaking a single sweat! I haven’t tried any heavy video editing, but LumaFusion makes quick work out of 4k editing
I just ordered the 13” iPad Pro with 2TB, along with the new pencil and magic keyboard. I am upgrading from the 12.9” M2 iPad Pro. I love the iPad lineup, for media consumption and portability. Macbook Pros are still the best from productivity.
it’s sad that it’s already in M4 series but still can’t do programming apps. like it would really make the iPad pro better if it can run other programming apps like VS code rather than just having Swift Playground
Nice to see the IBM t-shirt getting an outing. I have my original one stuffed in a bag in the attic waiting for me to become 50lbs lighter - sadly, it’s never gonna happen!
I bought my 1st iPad Pro for last Christmas, despite knowing a new one was about to come out. I’m glad I purchased the Pro M2. I use it for Logic iPad, and have thrown everything at it without a hitch! Tons of audio tracks and plugins, AU3 instruments with a buffer size of 64 on a shitty Gen 1 Focusrite scarlet 2i2. The only way I would upgrade to this is if Apple finally allows native apple silicon apps. I was kind of hoping that with the new Magic Keyboard, it will turn the iPad into a fully blown MacBook pro when docked. Seems like a missed opportunity. Also, if they made the new pencil backwards compatible with existing iPad Pro’s with the new features, they would be killing it. But, we can all wish..
Changes everything for the worse…. Two versions of the M4 chip where you have to buy a 1TB and above to get the full version. Missing camera ultra wide… Not using cameras on the Pro, yet Apple wants you to use the Pro to make movies with their new app…😳…Timmy! Battery capacity, heat dissipation, less powerful chip for thinnest… Need a new Pencil and keyboard despite already having one from the last generation. iPad Air is more mainstream and casting it aside for niche artists and musicians…😳 Where’s the Mini, Timmy?
Well on the bright side, due to Apple increasing the Student discount on the new iPad Pros to $100 off (as opposed to $50 in the past) AND doubling the base storage to 256GB now... I am fortunately getting the new OLED model for only $50 more than I had ordered the last gen model for last Fall (and ultimately ended up cancelling to wait it out for the next product announcement, heck yeah right call lol). Here's my math: 2022 iPad Pro 11" w/ 256GB @ $899 - $50 Student Discount = $849 -vs.- 2024 iPad Pro 11" w/256GB @ $999 - $100 Student Discount = $899 So at least I lucked out there, just having to pay $50 more and lost that extra Ultrawide Camera on the back lol.
The question is how much more money can an m4 iPad Pro make you vs an iPad Pro M1? What’s amazing is a 25% price increase for you to get the extra value.
iw as really hoping for a larger format, something between the old ipad pro, and the samsung tab S9 ultra. getting closesr to the 16:9 aspect ratio would be so much better for video content and gaming
You’re leaving out accessories. None of the old accessories will work with it. So if you use a pencil and a keyboard, you’re at $2500 for the base model with accessories.
Just think for one moment…..this powerful M4 iPad Pro and magic keyboard doesn’t even support a normal mouse pointer. They really should have announced some iPadOS 18 tidbits for potential buyers and not be so concerned about the Devs at wwdc.
I wasn't surprised about anything other than that the M4 has hardware accelerated ray tracing(which everyone is overlooking). this is going to change everything for macs
I feel like the limitation isn't necessarily the software, but the touch input. IF Apple assumed everyone owned a magic keyboard with trackpad, they could make the software more detailed and productivity-focused. But not everyone has that, so the software has to assume touch controls which are simply limited and will never work for productivity. The only possible solution would be to dual boot into MacOS or switch between 'desktop' and 'touch' modes, but Apple might have nightmares from when Microsoft tried to do something like that with Windows 8.
The iPad Air M2 11" and 13" are actually still 10.9" and 12.9", respectively, according to the fine print on Apple's website under the comparison tab. Looks like it's just marketing really.
I went ahead and ordered the 13" iPad Pro 2TB model without that nano screen. When I saw it, I didn't feel like it was better for me. I also ordered the Magic Keyboard and pencil Pro. I am coming from a 2020 11" iPad Pro with the A12Z Bionic. So this will be a nice upgrade IMO. Especially since this iPad I've been using has a bad battery drain and the screen size is too small now. I will be moving to a 13" iPad and a 16" Macbook Pro. MBP will be next.
Son there’s exactly 1 thing I could do better with the new iPad compared to my M1 Pro: video chats. There’s literally not a single new function I could use. And what’s the fetish with thinness? No one ever said he wants a thinner iPad. But basically everyone would be glad to have more battery life.
My 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 died a few weeks ago and I wanted to wait until today to decide what to replace;ace it with. I suspect my display died because over the years, it got bent in my bag. So when I saw how thin the new pro is, I decided just to order the 13' air instead. It is mainly a RUclips consumption device anyway. I have a MacBook Pro for anything serious.
Very good for the environment if you have to buy all new accessories, even if the old ones still work perfectly. What's particularly annoying is that this isn't a hardware issue, it's just a software restriction to boost sales. Basically, it's not worth upgrading if you don't use it professionally.
Outrageous price tag! And, at the moment, we don’t have any NEW real professional, desktop grade level, app. Actually we only have the same, great indeed, but always the same Affinity suite, Procreate and few other (Nomad Sculpt for example) And this new iPad Pro also stick with the same iPad OS, that is far beyond Mac OS.
It's time for me to upgrade finally. I'm glad they skipped the M3 with it's security flaws, too. My iPad Pro still is running an A series chip before they got the real power boosts, so I can only imagine how much more powerful and fast it will feel for me.
I decided to quit watching Apple’s “events” live last time around. The hype seems always to dwarf the reality, at least, for me, and I have more constructive ways to spend my time. Kudos at least that this one was relatively short. So, they upgraded the hardware (and the prices). What a surprise. I’m sure the new models are fine, but so is my (now nearly antique) 2018 iPad Pro. I’ve yet to run into any hardware bottlenecks so I’m staying put until there’s a tangible benefit to me for upgrading.
Actually, I think the iPad 2 was more impactful than this one, then introduction of the first iPad Pro. A good release but not the pinnacle moment Apple wants us to think it is. That's just marketing BS, but I don't blame them for trying LOL. I don't really get all the hate this release is getting. The Pro is a "pro" device - not the iPad Plus Plus. It is a little awkward because some of the M3 MBPs are in the same price point with the full MacOS, but it will make more sense once those others are updated with M4 too. They had to create a new OLED approach, which required more engineering - not just a simple spec bump. New Pencils is annoying but needed because of the relocation of the magnets, but integration with Find My is very nice. New keyboard was expected anytime the form is changed - again annoying but understandable. I'm actually concerned about the thinness - no one was asking for this and yet this might lead to bending issues - I would get the keyboard just to avoid that LOL. The Pro is also the halo product - aspirational and expensive as hell for the Tech bros willing to pay for it. It does make the iPad Air look darn reasonable in comparison. Honestly, for mere mortals, the normal iPad is a killer device - especially now that it has USB-C. The normal iPad is the "default" device I would recommend unless you _know_ you need or willing pay for the other features. I would only get the Pro if making money with the device or as part of my job - or I had a lot of money burning a hole in my wallet - LOL.
Still iPad OS… Bring a stylish menu bar Dialog boxes The actual finder from macOS A resizable dock that’s scrollable Full Microsoft office (Microsoft!) Smaller UI Elements it’s ridiculous A normal mouse Proper windowing system A desktop or just something better with icons closer together Until then not wasting my money, Will stick with MacBook
I'm still pissed about the missing (disabled?) performance core on the M4 if you don't get the overpriced 1TB of storage you didn't want and didn't need.
I wonder if WWDC will announce some type of update to iPadOS that has a way to run MacOS silicon apps... but probably not. Would be REALLY nice though.
Forget all the naysayers…especially for those of us with pre-iPad M2s, this is EXACTLY what we waited for and the new Pencil rocks. I’m holding off on the keyboard as I prefer to use this thing as the tablet that it is and the delivery dates are already 2-3 weeks in wait--but not for us who got right in…
Just the change for the camera to landscape mode is enough of a change for me. Even though I now have to spend $2,600 and $700 for the ipad and keyboard 😢 still worth an upgrade for me as this is integral in my business now
This is tempting me to trade in my M1 version. Thinness and the camera now horizontal. My vesa mount has a magnetic pad that has a cutout for the ipad pro I got. And I’m so glad Apple kept the camera bump on the back the same location for the accessories everyone has. This thing is not cheap. I hardly ever touch my mac. Only if I stream sports and don’t want my music to stip playing because of an ad on a website. and websites that are not great on mobile. There are still some that are annoyingly not good on mobile. Other than that the iPad Pro has been great for music, shows in dolby vision and now better FaceTime chats.
I’m sure this new one will be very nice but my 6th gen iPad Pro 12.9 is still so good I just can’t justify buying it. Instead I just got a brand new M2 15” MacBook Air from BB for $999 to go with my iPad. Seems like a pretty good compliment to my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Now my Apple ecosystem is complete and I don’t need to give them any more of my $$$!

But the iPad software wise can’t do anything to use that power that people can’t do in their A12Z iPads
11 inch is $899 w/education discount. It’s pretty damn impressive for that price. This is Apple’s best hardware they sell and probably the best value (if you don’t go crazy)
Missed opportunity to shrink the bezels
That is the trouble with iOS. it's like giving you a Ferrari car. But you have to drive it around in the car park.
I just ordered the 13” iPad Pro with 2TB, along with the new pencil and magic keyboard. I am upgrading from the 12.9” M2 iPad Pro. I love the iPad lineup, for media consumption and portability. Macbook Pros are still the best from productivity.
Yeah.. Movies will look immense
@@Slynell1 RUclips Videos, especially HDR, will look better than ever!
Tandem OLED is actually an industry standard term, hence why it is not called something stupid like Ultra Fusion OLED
it’s sad that it’s already in M4 series but still can’t do programming apps. like it would really make the iPad pro better if it can run other programming apps like VS code rather than just having Swift Playground
Nice to see the IBM t-shirt getting an outing. I have my original one stuffed in a bag in the attic waiting for me to become 50lbs lighter - sadly, it’s never gonna happen!
The nano texture is a $500 upgrade. Because you have to get a minimum of one terabyte storage. Plus an additional $100 for the nano glass. Ridiculous.
Don’t get it then stop whining like a crybaby 😂
No way I’d pay so much for a device I can’t run Mac OS software on. Better off with a MacBook Air that’s even 2 generations old.
Then why comment? Dumb
Changes everything for the worse….
Two versions of the M4 chip where you have to buy a 1TB and above to get the full version.
Missing camera ultra wide…
Not using cameras on the Pro, yet Apple wants you to use the Pro to make movies with their new app…😳…Timmy!
Battery capacity, heat dissipation, less powerful chip for thinnest…
Need a new Pencil and keyboard despite already having one from the last generation.
iPad Air is more mainstream and casting it aside for niche artists and musicians…😳
Where’s the Mini, Timmy?
They will say this is the biggest day for the iPad when they come out with the M5! 😂😂
Here's my math: 2022 iPad Pro 11" w/ 256GB @ $899 - $50 Student Discount = $849 -vs.- 2024 iPad Pro 11" w/256GB @ $999 - $100 Student Discount = $899
So at least I lucked out there, just having to pay $50 more and lost that extra Ultrawide Camera on the back lol.
It’s still an iPad. No matter how good the hardware gets, it’s still just an iOS tablet. For most people, an M1 MacBook Air is the better value.
There about 6 years late for the OLED panel 😂
10 cores are only unlocked if you buy the 1tb and up tablet.
Love my M2 !2.9. I’ve had for over a year! No problems!
The question is how much more money can an m4 iPad Pro make you vs an iPad Pro M1?
What’s amazing is a 25% price increase for you to get the extra value.
Early guestmation 1.8x
None
iw as really hoping for a larger format, something between the old ipad pro, and the samsung tab S9 ultra. getting closesr to the 16:9 aspect ratio would be so much better for video content and gaming
Add all the opinions and you’re at $2.5k
What a time to be alive.
Just got one for my birthday, €1935 with pencil and keyboard. Just got my boss to but it for me and saved €444 on tax 👍
You’re leaving out accessories. None of the old accessories will work with it. So if you use a pencil and a keyboard, you’re at $2500 for the base model with accessories.
@@JeffMyers409 all the pencils work on it
Options not opinions 😂😂😂
It feels like only us two are the only ones excited for this new I pad. Also can't wait for the new keyboard!
Nice hardware upgrades… but, I’m not buying until it runs a full MacOs-style platform.
Say that to anyone who uses programs that aren’t available on iPadOS
The iPad Air M2 11" and 13" are actually still 10.9" and 12.9", respectively, according to the fine print on Apple's website under the comparison tab. Looks like it's just marketing really.
I just ordered The iPad Pro 13 inch and 512gb I need a new one 😊
Must be nice I have to actually save
@@newagehero9605 I am excited to try it out
I went ahead and ordered the 13" iPad Pro 2TB model without that nano screen.
It’s not out yet lol
Son there’s exactly 1 thing I could do better with the new iPad compared to my M1 Pro: video chats. There’s literally not a single new function I could use. And what’s the fetish with thinness? No one ever said he wants a thinner iPad. But basically everyone would be glad to have more battery life.
They literally put the camera in landscape mode to improve video chats…
Thinner and lighter, i would take that!
Honest Question: If you had the cash to spend would this be worth the upgrade?
Upgrading from which iPad?
@@GregsGadgets 4th gen. Ipad Pro 12.9inch
Overall, probably not. Especially because the mini-led display on the 12.9 pro is still very good.
No major upgrade...M2 is fine
Wondering if they'll bring that OLED screen to the 14" MacBook? They should be able to do a 14" at least if they can do the 13.
Just missing MagSafe charging! Oh well!
I was so surprised they put that M4 into the iPad and not a Mac product! 38 Trillion Operations a second! Unreal!
Very good for the environment if you have to buy all new accessories, even if the old ones still work perfectly. What's particularly annoying is that this isn't a hardware issue, it's just a software restriction to boost sales.
Basically, it's not worth upgrading if you don't use it professionally.
only if it has desktop apps on it
Outrageous price tag! And, at the moment, we don’t have any NEW real professional, desktop grade level, app.
Actually we only have the same, great indeed, but always the same Affinity suite, Procreate and few other (Nomad Sculpt for example)
And this new iPad Pro also stick with the same iPad OS, that is far beyond Mac OS.
No magsafe support 😢😢😢
It's time for me to upgrade finally. I'm glad they skipped the M3 with it's security flaws, too. My iPad Pro still is running an A series chip before they got the real power boosts, so I can only imagine how much more powerful and fast it will feel for me.
Oh boy! Another rectangle to blow my money on!
Grass is green, the sky is blue, Fire is hot, and people will ALWAYS find something to complain about. Never change people, never change. lol
Don’t get the white keyboard. Because it’s got the white rubber stuff on the outside of it. And that stuff will get dirty as hell.
My current white keyboard still looks great, the space grey shows grime and dust easier in my experience
I’m still using my first I pad , I pad 6 and I guess I’ll still be using it until Apple puts iOS Mac capabilities into it
I decided to quit watching Apple’s “events” live last time around.
Apple needs a cool down phase. Why make it thinner? It’s already thin enough. Also, please don’t slow down my processing speed on the next iOS update.
I will upgrade to an iPad Air. That works best for me. More storage and M2 will last me 5-7 years for what I do.
Still iPad OS…
Bring a stylish menu bar
Dialog boxes
The actual finder from macOS
A resizable dock that’s scrollable
Full Microsoft office (Microsoft!)
Smaller UI Elements it’s ridiculous
A normal mouse
Proper windowing system
A desktop or just something better with icons closer together
Until then not wasting my money,
Will stick with MacBook
M2 is already overpowered for ipad0S. They need to optimize the operating system to get me to buy in.
I'm still pissed about the missing (disabled?) performance core on the M4 if you don't get the overpriced 1TB of storage you didn't want and didn't need.
I own a 2018 iPad Pro and it’s starting to show its age. I’ll definitely be saving for this one.
I had my card out ready to finally upgrade from my 2018, then they announced the prices. Immediately put the card away.
I wonder if WWDC will announce some type of update to iPadOS that has a way to run MacOS silicon apps... but probably not. Would be REALLY nice though.
Probably yes, otherwise the M4 would be pointless. I guess they still work on the OS.
Correction: the screen sizes haven’t changed at all. They call it 13 inch for marketing purposes but it’s still 12,9 inches. Classic apple
Can't wait to use this for drawing and painting on.
Let’s hope they put a single layer OLED in the iPad mini 7 and allow it to run Stage Manager.
I think other than the tandem oled display , m2 still is an overkill, for most of the people m2 is still a better choice.
Why can’t tech RUclipsrs say “OLED” properly
How else do you say it
WWDC they will announce, finally, macOS Touch for iPad Pro...I hope 🙏
The 11 inch in theory didn’t get a price increase
I’m sure this new one will be very nice but my 6th gen iPad Pro 12.9 is still so good I just can’t justify buying it. Instead I just got a brand new M2 15” MacBook Air from BB for $999 to go with my iPad. Seems like a pretty good compliment to my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Now my Apple ecosystem is complete and I don’t need to give them any more of my $$$!
To be honest, I think people can over hype this as well, because if you look at the price hike and learn about other things from Luke Melanie and other people you will be shocked
Loved the event! I’m definitely getting either the 13” iPad Air or Refurbished 12.9” iPad Pro 🥳
