Just got my FT-16m yesterday. He is an amazing bot. The colors. The sculpt. The feel!

The DX9’s cannon mode looks a bit better to me and the light in the cannon is neat but overall the Fanstoys is way better and I’m glad I got the new movie-accurate-color version. He’s the toy I’ve wanted for 33 years.

I have the Dx9 figure, and while I agree it's not perfect, I honestly don't understand the hate for it. I know a lot of collectors care obsessively about screen accuracy, but I don't. It's something that I personally don't think there's enough time in this world for. At the end of the day it's a matter of personal opinion and choice as to which of these 2 you want.
Have you actually played with FT? I was also a supporter of the dx9 version until I handled FT and it changed my view completely it's not just cartoon accuracy, it's hardware, paint, articulation and quality. Of course if you like dx9 then you win.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Sovereign isn't a fantastic figure, and if you or anyone else prefers it to Tyrant then that's fine, who likes what is not the end of the world. I can only draw on my own experience, I have Tyrant and I have Eligos, and in all seriousness I would not swap them for the Ft versions. Despite their faults, they both look great imo, and I feel there is a bit of collector snobbishness sometimes

Honestly the only time DX9 made a better figure than Fanstoys was with Gabriel (their Omega Supreme is just better than Terminus Giganticus).
Agreed, hope FT does a Rodimus to replace dx9
I have both, and honestly, Fanstoys is better, Gabriel is toy accurate as Fanstoys is cartoon accurate, but seeing how I have both I can't justify DX9'S being better, I just don't see it homie.
Chris Mayville I see it the opposite way. The most important thing for me is cartoon accuracy for my MP collection - if you look at the cartoon cels, I think Gabriel is more cartoon accurate. That was the edge I needed otherwise, I would have went with Terminus. They're both great figures but IMO, this is the one time DX9 outdid Fanstoys. YMMV.
That's cool, but I see it differently as well, DX9 looks more like the toy to me, Fanstoys is more as the cartoon including face sculpt. To each their own
I agree. Gabriel looks more tune accurate, particularly in his proportions. Look at his hips and legs, just a cleaner look. I will say that FT has the better face sculpt and color for Terminus, but he can’t look down which is a bummer on a huge bot

Good review! I have both sovereigns and I love him.
I got to hold a tyrant at a toy meet up and was surprised how light it was. I had an open n play Galvatron on hand and weight wise they were almost the same. Despite the lightness and a few sculpt issues I had with it, I thought it was still a great toy. DX-9 alt mode looks better in my opinion.
This is a very nice version of AKA...Galvatron...Looks Exactly like the 1986 Transformers movie..Nice!!

The movie pint on this guy is amazing, though to be fair the paint on the original version was amazing aswell. If I didn’t have the original I would definitely have preordered this guy, still looks amazing and I am still in awe of this figure whenever I look at my display. For me personally Sovereign has been their best release to date

If you want a more movie accurate purple color, go with FT-16M. If you want a more Season 3 Cartoon accurate purple color, go with FT-16.

So just got him in today.. looks amazing.. did a slight mode.. shaved just a bit off the peg from dx9 tyrant cannon (solid colored one) managed to peg in solid.. this is a permanent upgrade now no doubt

I have this, specifically the FT-16M version. I just got it from mail two days ago. While its shape does not look quite as movie-accurate as the DX9's version in its cannon mode, it looks much more so in the robot mode. Also, the colouration - in both modes - is more movie-accurate than in DX9's figure, and the articulation in the cannon mode is a big plus. So, overall, Fans Toys' version was clearly a better choice for me, and it looks very nice with my Quietus.
EDIT: Also, that Tyrant figure looks very loose jointed, so the posability and even basic stability seems compromised in it.

Yeah there’s something to be said about the presence of the DX9s face and gold cannon, but everything else about the fanstoys kills it. I too held onto and was happy with the dx9 for a long time, but when I saw the original paint fanstoys in person it was over.
Feel bad for dx9 because it was a good figure, just not as good
Hi, I have this figure but the grey piece in the middle of his back does not sit in place with the Grove that runs on the purple back. Do you have any issues with this? and is there anything I can do to make it sit on his back rather than having the piece dropped back away from his body?
It should lock in place, you may not have it transformed correctly

I always thought his hands weren't quite right. Either too small or too skinny. Other than that, love it (but don't have it........yet)
Is it worth 300$ asking price ridiculous if you ask me 150 at most dx9 head sculpt is far better. looks better in alt mode cannon looks better sovereign looks good tho there is a place on my self. Looks a bit to shinny my personal preference is a satin matt finish. Still it's a cool figure .
This was $180 retail price, aftermarket varies wildly depending on supply and demand and greed
@@TMReviews yeah it's mostly greed I will get a sovereign held one my friend has it it is put together well. Very nice figure probably get the dull paint finish got the dx9 on the shelf still very happy with it only transform my bots once then they are on display in my cabinet buy both originals and 3rd party and kos if they look the part.
How did you take off the face? Do you unscrew the back?
I wonder why they didn’t give a stand quietus Is the tip of the stand the same for Jetfire as for Galvatron because it’s different for swoop

There is no comparison dx9 is mediocre at best had it first then quickly sold it when I got sovereign.
There is a reissue going over here. And boy, the FT-16M is pricey. At this price, I expect it to have movable treads, IMHO.
It's pretty damn good, one of the best 3P ever made, but ya if you can get it closer to $200 that is closer to target

Sorry ,die cast don't mean shit,that thing hits the floor something is breaking on it,hands are ugly along with whatever the hell that baggy sweater for a chest he got and he does have an ab crunch ,tyrant has a little better shelf presence when customized.

sovereign has an ab crunch ,yo have to un tab the two back panels from the middle part on his back then open the front chest plate and tilt it and close the chest part .it's pretty decent like road king,the other stuff was just rants nothing personal, just a tyrant fan,keep up the good work😉

The original Fanstoys Galvatron release comes with both cannons, the toy version and the toon version, I have the original release and DX9's.Fanstoys blows DX9's out of the water and always will. I'm a dx9 fan but Fanstoys just can't be topped. Arturo Milimir is the original designer of the DX9 Galvatron and it was completely cartoon accurate, once the design was sold to dx9 then their designer changed a few things on it and the feet and hands being 2 off the bat and fucked it all up. Shout out to that idiot.

I tried to like DX9's Tyrant so much... I still think the face and head sculpt are awesome (gold cannon as well), but those scrawny limbs, tiny hands and terrible feet ruin it. Sadly, everything Tyrant does, Sovereign does better.

I don't know off hand but its one of the heaviest in my collection, probably close to 2 lbs

@@TMReviews hate 2 bother u again, but is sovereign in the same quality as soc? They say soc golion is excellent toy 2 have, top toy, and am seeing is sovereign in same category. Just trying to see since i am new at this. Appreciate ur help
Hard to say, both are very good quality, lots of diecast and posability, but they are different things. One is a combiner and one is a standalone figure
They could have done a better job with the arms then again I am no engineer so what I have to say I guess is irrelevant
Ya, of the options out there tho I think this is the least compromised

I loved the 1st version of sovereign so much that I broke down and got this 2nd version ft-16M of him (cuz it's Galvatron!!!). Now I have BOTH versions of sovereign but only opened the new ft16M to sneak peek that new paint job- BEAUTIFUL! Now I totally can't decide which one to keep! They're both TOTALLY AWESOME!

Besides Richthofen, DX9's figures a pretty crap in comparison to other companies...
Their Blitzwing is excellen, as is Carry, their Rodimus Prime. Their Gabriel is better than Fanstoys' Omega Supreme too. Plus their Hot Rod from the film is great.
