  • This video demonstrates the design and simulation of Push-Pull Converter / isolated DC-DC Converter using MATLAB/Simulink. Push-Pull Converter is an isolated Buck converter used in SMPS applications. Push-Pull converter employs two switches (MOSFETS) across the transformer primary winding. When S1 is ON current is drawn across the primary winding due to S1. Similarly, when S2 is ON current is drawn across the primary winding due to S2. Therefore current flows continuously irrespective of the operating cycles of switches. Whereas, in an isolated converter such as flyback converter which employs only one switch, the current is drawn only when the switch is ON. Hence push-pull converters are preferred for high power ratings and are highly efficient. The design involves a lot of assumptions and care has to be taken in assuming suitable value.

During the operation of switche one or two, the current in the inductance will increase and there is no discharge mode. you need to add a third state where both switches are off.

It totally starts from the requirement. Like what Is your load and how much you want the output to be. Based on these you can decide

but why dont we mention the negative sign of C nd L? ....also what it mean when C or L are negative about converter?

Hi Alagar Krishna. I want you to try it first and in case you are stuck then Mail me with the details to Electronicsmaddy@gmail.com. I would expect you to brief your efforts and where you are stuck at and what is the objective of the circuit etc.

Show this simulation by taking one more duration when both switches are off
