    Great video, and a real eye opener, it confirms what we already know but most of us, including me, inexplicably choose to ignore what is blindingly obvious, what separates a decent golfer from a very good golfer, the short game! Scott's short game is on a different level, I am desperate to reduce my 13 handicap to single figures, when do I practice my short game? practically never, every time I go to the range Driver, Driver, Driver - Wrong, Wrong, Wrong - I need to watch this video over and over again and next time I go to the range leave my Driver at home and practice the money shots :)

      You need to do it in course situations as much as possible as well, just doing it at a range does not suffice. I try to get on the course when no body else is around, play a few balls, practise wedges and chipping from different distances and different situations, putting off the green ect. ect. ect.

    This is one of my favourite courses to play in Sydney. Whilst it will never be thought of as a links course, in true links style there are plenty of blind shots, both off the tee, and from the fairway.
    Not only are the par 3 holes all in a different direction, but the same with the par 5 holes as well. It's a wonderful test of golf, especially when the wind is blowing.

    It looks like the sort of golf course I would love to play most days tough challenging and what views. Rick played well but you can tell who is the tour pro, my advice to any higher handicapper is to spend more time on the chipping and putting area, its the only way to lower your handicap. Look forward to more vids Rick

    Rick,
    Why does Scott line up with the ball in the heel?
    Carl

    • @JCRocksteady
      @JCRocksteady 9 лет назад +1

      Setting up in the heel forces you to come inside and have more of an in to out swing (to help avoid the you know what!). That's one theory anyway. Think a few pros line up like that, e.g. Luke Donald, I believe.

    • @mjgrasso76
      @mjgrasso76 9 лет назад

      I noticed that as well and was curious. I watch a lot of golf and have never noticed pros lining up that far towards the heel. Whatever works I guess.

    • @carlrushton7041
      @carlrushton7041 9 лет назад

      if it helps me get the feel of an in to out swing i'll have a go!!

    • @eddiebrown687
      @eddiebrown687 9 лет назад

      Carl Rushton It has something to do with the ball being 2-3 inches off the ground. Most people set up to the ball with the Driver club on the ground. If you set it up toward the heel, then raise the club up to match the height of the tee-ball, (where of course it's going to strike it during the swing), then you will notice the club head is more in the center, where you get your best result at impact. That's why for fairway woods and irons you see people set up more in the middle, the ball and club are both on the ground. This was how it was explained to me by a tour pro I know. But of course in golf you just have to experiment and find what works for you.
