When self-promotion and disorder enter a church’s worship, the worship is greatly diminished. The Bible allows for great variety in worship, but it also gives important guidelines to ensure that the Lord is truly honored in our worship.

I thank God for expositors like you, Pastor Davey. As a person who grew up in a Pentecostal denomination, it's really true and so much chaos in the house of God back in the days. They'd even tell/instruct them for how long they ought to speak in their tongues. But since coming to the knowledge of the truth, I've renounced that belief, though I never spoke in tongue myself and so grateful I didn't fake it. God has used you sir to be of great blessing to me through His Word and your faithful teachings.

Christians completely miss the point with tongues which are associated with the Prophetic Gift - which is not the foretelling of future events. That is clairvoyance regardless whether delivered in a Christian Church or a Spiritualist Service. The Gift of Prophesy is the deliverance of a sermon by a Spirit of God (the Holy Spirit) in the native language of the audience. Why was this gift necessary? Because in Jesus's own word He stated there was much that He had yet to tell them but was unable to do so at that time. Many things they would be unable to bear at that time - due to the level of human intellect of those days. It would be too much for them to take in and much that He had hinted at was to occur in the near future. Jesus's Mission was not to write bibles. Had He wished to do so He could have spent time with any of the scribes or public notaries available in His day, for that purpose. Instead He promised to send The Spirit of Truth to teach humans.
The laws for spiritual communication to humans are the same for both God's spirits and Satan's spirits. Spirits have no physical vocal cords with which to create audible sounds which the audience can all perceive. Thus a human "instrument" or prophet is required as an intermediary or "medium" whose vocal cords are made available for the use of the Spirit who is to speak. In most cases God would arrange to send a spirit who spoke in the native tongue of the audience. It was more the exception when a spirit was sent who could only speak in a foreign language and arrangements would be made to interpret what was said. In many cases the audience might have a large number of listeners who did not speak a particular language and they would be catered for as well. To one part of the audience the prophet would be prophesying normally while to the others he would be "speaking in tongues".
The prophetic gift did not die out due to availability of religious texts but was extinguished by worldly men who decided that their theology and dogma was superior to the words preached by God's Spirits.
For 1500 years the Catholic Church suppressed the prophetic gift using the witchcraft laws to strike fear into anyone displaying that gift. It was during the 20th century that God's Spirits were once again able to break through the barriers of ignorance to speak God's Truth to humanity. Unfortunately, for obvious reasons, it was necessary to give the established Christian Churches a wide berth. However Satan's spirits of confusion have sucessfully filled the void in the Christian churches with the emotional psycho-babble that is today passed off as spiritual gifts and speaking in tongues..
