Traditional Art Deco Stained Glass Window Making

- Gorgeous Art Deco inspired stained glass door panel completed this week. I took inspiration for the design from a large window that was made many years ago in my client's home. I did get a little lucky with finding some of the original but discontinued hammered amber glass in my workshop. This window came out a treat 🙂
Cheers for watching 🫶

I’m amazed at how you keep the glass from moving while you are scoring

Amazing Jan!! It's just beautiful!!
Even I was a little surprised at how well the new window tied in with the existing one. Enjoyed this one 🤜🔥🤛
Beautiful
🧡💛
Bravo vorrei esercitarmi anch'io in questa arte meraviiosa 😃🤩👍👏👏👏
Cheers for watching buddy 🍻
Even though you mentioned the hammered glass is tricky to break clean, you still made it look easy. Beautiful match to the existing window!
It was just a simple short straight bit but cutting shaped bits is a nightmare 😂🫶
Great work, every home needs stained glass.
I agree completely 🫶🫶🫶🫶🙂
Thanks for always answering! I guessed about the gloves...
Cheers for watching 💚💛💙💜
Beautiful.
Thank you! Cheers! 🍻
👍👍👍
💛💙
All your panels are gorgeous. I noticed your flux does not appear to smoke while you solder. What kind of flux do you use?
Thank you, I just use straight forward plumbing flex tbh. But you don't need much just a small dab with the brush, less is more 🫶
¡¡ Espectacular felicitaciones !! 👏 👍
Thank you 🫶
Looks awesome... You make it look so easy, but I know it's lots of practice, so to say. Beautiful work.
Thanks for the appreciation Pam 🙂🫶
Hermoso trabajo!! 🥰
🤜💥🤛
I could watch this channel all day. You're so good at what you do.
Aww thank you, I have a few thousand windows practice but cheers 🤜💥🤛
Parabéns, pelo belicimo trabalho vc é demais
Cheers buddy 🫶
Super as always! May I ask two questions? I will anyway😊 first... why don't you wear gloves when cutting the glass? Second... why do you always leave the propane torch so near the computer?! Maybe it's the camera angle but it seems so near that I'm always on the brink of shouting "watch out"!😂
Haha, I need to be able to 'feel' the glass whilst I'm working on it. If I ever cut myself whilst glass cutting I'd wear them maybe but in 25+ years that very very rarely happens. Computer wise I like to keep everything close to hand. The angle does make them look close but there not really plus... Heat rises 😂👍
Excellent work, my friend. I want to work in stained glass, but the problem is the lack of materials in my country, Iraq, such as lead and other materials that you add at the end. I wish you well.
Such a shame, we are lucky we have lots of suppliers in the UK but I fear in the future it will be harder to buy materials here too
❤❤❤
🍻🍻🍻
Fantastic work do you have a video of you fitting a pane into a door
Im not able to get involved in the fitting as I'm too busy on many more windows. Hopefully my client will send my pictures to see 🙂
Is black crate polish the same as black stove polish? I can’t find the crate polish
Black grate polish or black stove polish = same stuff 🫶
Do you recommend zinc for the borders to make them stronger?
No need for a zinc frame as my work is always fitted into a frame work normally a door or window frame 👍
What software do you use. I know you’ve be at this for many years but you make the lead work look so effortless. I really struggle with it
I spent a small fortune making my own design program a few years ago 🩵🤍🩷
Whoa. Question : what happens to your scraps? I would love to buy some red scraps...
I use the scraps in smaller projects until there pretty much no use. Glass is so expensive!
Wonderful. I've always been a fan of stained glass, but now I'm specifically researching it for a novel I'm working on. Any resources you'd recommend?
Crikey I wish I could be some use to you. Ive been doing this for over 20 years now so I'm not very upto date with that sort of information. Maybe try joining a few of the stained glass groups on facebook 👍
May I ask where do you find your picking sticks? I've found some three point fiddle tools, but they seem to be way too long for comfortable and precise use..
I use little screw driver that a drind a blunt point into the end. The little handles are great to hold 🩵💜❤️
Beautiful. I love the hammered glass. Do you get glass splinters at all?
Cheers 🤜💥🤛 I don't really have many incidents these days. It's all about how you hold the glass so as not to stab yourself etc 😂🫣
What type surface are you working on when you are muddying and polishing
It's a very similar recipe to the ones you can find with a Google search for leaded light window cement recipe 🫶
Fantastic. How much did this cost the customer? Just a ballpark number out of curiosity:)
There was a lot of behind the scenes work on this making sure we got the best match possible. I think I charged around £600.00 for it
❤❤Sir, tell me which metal is this which can be cut with a knife?
It's traditional lead came 🫶
@@LightLeadedDesigns thank you sir you are great designer
Hi, do you not use whitening?
Nah I don't really like all the mess 💜💛💙
