The Haunted Magnolia Lane Plantation: A Quick Informal Tour With The Chigg
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 19 фев 2020
- Please join me as I visit the Magnolia Lane Plantation across the river from New Orleans, Louisiana. This plantation was established in the 1700's during the Spanish colonial period, is built in the French tradition, and has been in existence since. The home and land has been featured in many major motion pictures up to the present time. It has also been claimed to be one of the scariest places on earth!
In this informal tour, the owners Brad and Mr. Richard show me around and allow me to hang out with them for several days. If you are ever in the area, check out their retail plant nursery that is located on the property. Brad is an expert in flowering gingers and has a huge collection of amazing plants. The nursery address is Nine Mile Point Nursery, 2141 River Road Westwego, Louisiana.

Notice the sudden seriousness on Chigs face when the plaid shirt guy starts talking about the two nearby forts and the home being used as a command post. He’s like my bird dog. Everything is fun and games until he sees a bird.
Squirrel?
If you listen carefully you can almost hear his heart beating when they're talking about the two forts
As someone with ADHD, I recognise it in Beau (that's a compliment, ADHD comes with amazing gifts). His low boredom threshold, impulsivity (not wearing safety equipment!), how quickly his brain works and how he makes connections, curiosity, ability to talk endlessly to camera (himself/us), quick repartee, and hyperfocus. That zooming in when the guy mentions forts- boom, he's locked on a target. Bet his mind was all over it, and he went to bed, working out how to get there long into the night. @Keith, When you said squirrel!, you were more correct than you knew. That's our ADHD community in-joke, "oh look, a squirrel"!!!
Great analogy.

Excellent description and clarity. 💯
If walls could talk this place would have a 10 story thick book on anything and everything I'm sure of it!!!!!!
Beautiful old home. Hope the owners restore/preserve it. Looks like it needs some work soon.
It looks good to me. You can tell they’re doing a little work on it here and there.
My philosophy.. Use it as it was intended, enjoy it, and never leave it nice for the next guy
They're living there which is weird, and there looks to be mold and water damage in all of the rooms. What a shame.
@@getin3949 Why is it weird that they are living there?
@@killerlalu1some rooms look like they've been abandoned for 20 years, cool place though, as an owner of a 200 year old house I know how much work/time/money it takes to keep up with it's aging.
Mine was King George III's hunting lodge back in the early 1800s, find a lot of related stuff in the grounds... coins, buttons, round-balls etc.
@@njones420 That's really cool! Do you have to keep it updated with period materials, if possible? I don't remember how long ago it was that I read something about one of the reasons it is so hard to upkeep historical British buildings is because of a requirement to maintain it as close to period as possible.
As for this home, yes, the swamps of Louisiana definitely take their toll and he did mention that the "Dying Room" had stayed closed off for a very long time. The plantation home my mother grew up in (though it was by no means a plantation any longer) is now a Historical Site and managed by a historical society. We've been back a time or two and it's very interesting to see the differences between, well, just about every part of the much older home and those built even a hundred years ago and especially to those built today. Of course, it also comes with its own ghosts.
What an awesome episode Chigg , this was really great, so much history, beautiful place . I could watch stuff like this for hours . 👍✌️
Brad and Mr. Richard thank you for sharing your historic home and business with Chigg and his Army. Much respect and everyone on this adventure, please stay awesome,
CHIGG!! WOW, You going to fine some really cool stuff there.. CAN'T WAIT!!
Good grief the history there. "the hangin tree". Not something you hear everyday. Nor want to really. Wow.
Maybe we can have it transplanted to DC.
Why do you not want to here it? It's part of the history in the area
Well da'ling, history forgotten is often history repeated. Yes,ugliness is hard to look at, yet necessary if the evolutionary path is to be improved upon. When you are ready, luv, and not a moment too soon.❤🌞
Did he say they cut down the hanging tree?
Incredible piece of history. Can’t wait to see the treasures you find!
A very Interesting place.... spooky. Thanks for taking me along! I hope you eventually find the cannon.
RIP to my ancestors because I would have died before I went through that hell.
That’s what I alway think ain’t no way!
I know I would had f that
Flat panes of glass used to be made by flattened out blown glass bubbles that's why they have concentric ripples. Modern plate glass is made by floating molten glass on molten metal, a method which is relatively new.
That's really cool! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! 😊💜
Thats a beautiful house !! thanks for taking us on the tour!!!!
Glad to see you in our area! Absolutely amazing property! I'm in Houma! Great video!😁❤️
Very interesting location. Can't wait for part 2. I hope that in the near future some restoration is done before that fine old plantation home is beyond repair, it would be a shame to lose a great part of history. Good luck getting dirty(dirty hands are happy hands) 😉👍
I'm originally from Mississippi and raised Louisiana and there's a lot of interesting history in the area along the coast. Some people may not like some of it but it's part of the area.
Its an early video today. Keep us on our toes. Love haunted :>) What a fabulous place, but it needs some serious period restoration! And where's yer coat, you'll catch yer death of cold as my mother used to say....
He'll be warm enough in Louisiana, even in Feb. But better watch for snakes down there!! :)
@Lynn Maupin-Simpson Agreed, no wonder they were fainting all the time. And no amount of perfume was going to counter the human scent that the heat elicits!
It's a well known house of spooks....Ghost Hunters, and many other well known channels have shot videos there of that place. It is one of the most haunted places in the United States.....awesome place Chigg...I hope you had fun.
Do you have any links? Would love to track those programmes down :) Please and thank you.
he huried up and told that one guy let's get to digging he had been in his truck for 2 days.
way to go THE AQUACHIGGER
@M P not good... not good at all / ALL LIVES MATTER
The hanging tree was not just for slaves it was the parish judiciary tree that was the form of execution from whomever broke the law the required capital punishment.
@M P Oh, what a grown-up response. Let's burn down someone's home because of the history PERCEIVED to have happened there. Did you even listen to a word he said? You're gonna burn down their family residence that they moved into AFTER the Civil War? Many plantations/estates were not returned to the previous owners after the war; do you think all of them would also be burned "just because"??? Also, maybe you should look into the Civil War and the activities occurring before during and after it according to the people who were going through it; it went WAY beyond slavery... No matter which country they originally came from... Or under what party name they registered.
Wow, what history, what beautiful grounds! Love the south! That house is it being preserved? It needs a lot of tlc., but neet to see how the plantation house was built.
I love it, I could probably wonder around that place for hours and never get bored 👍😎👍
Truly amazing Beau! Boy, the history behind that and within that! And that old tractor reminded me of going to a thrashery.
Absolutely wonderful !!!!Oh Beau you out did yourself on this one..love the history and the beauty of this place...it just took my breath away..Thank you so much.

Wow, my Grandma passes this place every day to go to work, small world.

This video is what makes this channel so good, not just digging for relics but a history lesson.
Awesome video it's so interesting need more of these videos.
The hanging tree, spirit bottles, stuffed cat, snakes in jars, skulls, its so spoooooookkkkky!!! Love to see a haunted camp out from you and a next day treasure dig if the spirits dont git ya first! 😁
Love the history. Thanks h
What a gorgeous and interresting house..! I would kill to detect on a place like that! Lucky to be there, Chigg!
Getting the experts involved is always good. Thanks Chigg. Wonderful history. The spirit tree is very interesting.
Absolutely love history of this place. Yeah I'm history buff🤗
I'd never heard that term either and now every door you went through all I can see is the cross and bible. Houses now cost 6 times more to build and lucky to last 20 years with regular expensive maintenance. We have a lot to learn from those talented craftsmen called slaves that's for sure. Thanks for sharing 😊
@Georg Andexler Andexler it sure does and here in New Zealand we call them Matua 😊
@Doc Savage calm down before you start insulting people. You don't know what I am and I stand by what I said, they should be recognised as what they are not just slaves, it's 2020 and you should be a bit more greatful. Keep your sexiest bullshit to yourself too mate.
That is a fantastic place!
That was so cool. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Fascinating thanks for taking us along. Xx 🇮🇲
That’s amazing that this house has been in the same family for so many years. I have heard the thing about the bottles.
Welcome to my home Chigg. I'm surprised no one is wearing white rubber boots. Hope you get to eat some good food while you are here and hope the weather straightens out for you. BTW....it is crawfish season, yet early and on the smallish side, be sure and try some....ok....crayfish, excuse me.
Wow this was amazing. I would love to see the full tour. See the basement and attic and rooms and so on. Its amazing to think of all the history there, especially colonial history. It reminds me of the plantation from interview with the vampire.
Here in the South, ESPECIALLY right next to a river, we don't usually have basements; they tend to flood constantly. Attics, though, yup, we can usually provide some ample attic space, though you might need to watch your back so you don't nail yourself to the roof. 😉 I sure would love a peek in the attics here, though!!!
Hey aquachigger thank you for the video I really enjoyed it and hopefully someday down the road I can find myself a nice load of those window panes because that glass is beautiful
Truly amazing. Pure HISTORY untouched!
Really a cool tour. Your Host did a great job!
It is sort of ironic that it was raining while you were there. Freaky really...
What is with the bad taxidermy? A cat? Yikes!
