Great seeing you 2 play a game together again… my father and I played a many games together from Risk to Axis and Allies and eventually some 40K in the 90s and early 2000s before he passed… watching you guys play always reminds me of the games we shared and the struggle I always had trying to beat my father… great video and as always beautiful models and terrain
Jake's wink after 69 was gold
Nice to see a starter box game. Always wonder how they go because I'm never able to start with just the content of these kind of boxes ^^'
I learned early on that buying two of these particular starters is best. The price is super-low (always figure $10 per tank in this game). You could also split the contents with someone to save even more money. I've also learned the best way to collect is to buy the book, unit cards, and command cards at the start. That way if you add more units later you will have the unit cards for them since the smaller expansion don't include them.
Love your videos. Definitely my favourite wargaming channel and Ive been watching for a while. I actually just got the box set so Im very excited to play FOW
thanks! and I hope you enjoy your FOW journey!
Great battle report chaps.
Thanks!
Great video guys! I was wondering as to why did you painted the fenders of the BA-64 armored cars (intimidating as they are!). Is the idea aircraft recognition? Also, what source did you find these markings from? Thanks!
4 3+ infantry saves- rolls 4 1's? Yikes! Jon, you need to burn those dice!
Tell me about it 🙄
Almost as bad as when I rolled 5 ones in row for Terminator saves in 40K.
Well, that indeed was more entertaining than I would have thought. It turned out to be almost a tight match.
Good battle report.
Really enjoyed this! Great intro game. Side question…do you know if they still sell that lazer line sight you used for LOS checks? I looked around but did not see one. I think it is an Army Painter Product? I see the pointer version but not the one that draws a line…maybe it is only aftermarket/secondhand at this point.
I'm pretty sure it is a army painter product. The one I had before that I think I just bought at Harbor Freight.
Great game!
Great battle report again. I have one question: why do you never show the movement step of the turn, only the end result?
Great game! Remember that some of your units are careful, not aggressive, examples at 14:10 & 16:42 . To be honest though, I know playing soviets that are 4+ careful is weird 😅, even more confusing there's plenty of units that are aggressive while there's just as many careful. I hope to run Hero Engineer Sappers later after I complete assembling painting some other armies, like my Romanian Cavalry.
4+ Careful Soviets are hard to wrap your head around after 3+ for so long. Honestly I'm surprised I didn't make more mistakes.
It’s shoot and scoot. You fire your guns (shoot) then move to avoid return fire (scoot), doing it in reverse order would not work.
Great battle report.
Hey man could you put out a video on the Warsaw pact army list and how to build out an army. I can’t understand the army list
You guys should totally do a midwar battle report using the new dynamic points they released!
How many points are the Battle Group Panthers?
My house rules modified that rule so that the stormtrooper move can only be used if moving to attack. Not to shoot and then hide in cover or concealment. We actually call it the stormpussy move.
Thanks for video! two things, fences don´t causes cross check and heavy machine gun can´t assault because is heavy weapon..
Looking forward to seeing how this game plays out! My bet is on the Germans for the starter.
That was a good game, I was right in my guess that Germany would win just looking at your video for what was in the boxed set.
It's an uphill battle for the soviets, that's for sure but still winnable.
home again Jack great news
Why so negative on the JagdTiger? It was the champion in the game (even if only used on the T34s). I love the JagdTigers and think they are hugely underestimated.
Well I think Jake is down on it a little more than I am, but when compared to a king tiger it has a couple of significant disadvantages. Forward firing in the slow firing gun limit it's offensive options. But at the end of the day it is still an amazingly effective and heavily armored tank. And honestly the most important thing is it looks super cool.
@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall Agreed the cost is an issue, but with 2nd company in Bulge you get one JagdTiger for 13/14 points. I think positioning of the JagdTiger on the field is more crucial than for the Kings (because of slow/forward firing), but Jake handled his lone Jagd in the game excellent and it (alone) cleared the way for his infantry. I have seen other reports with JagdTigers where they have failed miserably, mainly because they were mistreated. That being said, of course Kings are good too, but I have actually played JagdTiger lists (mostly defense) very successfully. It is mainly their consistent hitrate to demolish units that I like (on top of them being the coolest unit in the game!). You feel the difference with the 2+ Firepower (fails half of the times compared to Kings). Thanks for great content guys, always fun to watch!
Come to New Zealand
Go seeing you together again
