Thank you! I got to re-live wonderful memories of singing this in choir, and, lately, can't get it out of my mind, but wouldn't want to! WE AIN'T GOT LONG TO STAY HERE is so true now!!! PRAISE GOD!

Wow! After listening to the Aug. 3rd podcast of In The Market With Janet Parshall, this means so much more that it would've, had I heard it previously. The program that day included guest Matt Carter, who has written the book: Steal Away Home: Charles Spurgeon and Thomas Johnson, Unlikely Friends on the Passage to Freedom. I've ordered the book, but listening to the author tell about the friendship of former slave (for his first 28 years) Thomas Johnson, who became a follower of Jesus while a slave, & who wanted to be a missionary to Africa, was amazing. Carter pointed out that the slaves would "whisper-worship" in the evenings, as they weren't allowed to worship outwardly, & would whisper-sing this song. It is sad to me that we ever had slavery in this country, but the stories need to continue being told, so we can learn from them, & learn how so many of the former slaves went on to have meaningful lives. I loved watching the conductor, Dr. Carter!
