I love this so much. Makes me feel better about my journey into freelance because I thought that my anxiety and depression would keep me from reaching my goals. It feels good to know that I can still succeed in my dream job. Thank you showing me that.
You should NEVER give up on your dreams just because of depression and anxiety. Trust me, where there's a will, there's a way. You just have to find a way of working that works best for your brain.
I personally think the "okay bye!" part is cute, LOL. I also love that you didn't sugarcoat it, because people should know that not all days are feel-good or uber-productive ones and there are a ton of distractions and self-care things to have to deal with, when one works at home...if they're not already aware.
As soon as you said you weren't going to sugar coat the freelancing lifestyle I had to sub, because I'm living that life girl. Aah, it's nice to find a kindred spirit cause the struggle is real sometimes.
I’m contemplating a mid-career shift, and I’ve always been curious about career that centers around writing. This video was so helpful. Especially your honesty and authenticity. Thank you for making such an informative, genuine, and generous video! Wishing you all the best ❤
I was just about to quit on myself until I watched this. Thank you so much and your doing such a great job of coping with all your going through. Hopefully it's better now. 🤗
This is the vision of my life. So honest and freeing. Not all days are good days but the best part is that you have the freedom to go with the flow and you have this space for yourself to create. How inspiring and to see that it's possible to live a life like this. Thank you!
It's soooo nice to see someone with the same kind of "go with the flow" routine. I'm a freelance writer too, working about 15-20 hours a week for a full-time salary. I'm autistic and ADHD and have a long history of mental health issues too, and because of that I simply can't work full-time. I also struggle to work the same amount of hours every day so I started to just... not do that. I only this week stopped using an alarm too (unless i have a morning meeting). But whenever I look at other freelancers they always look so organised and productive and while I share the same "we're not on this earth to be productive" mindset, it can sometimes make me feel like I'm not doing enough. So this is really refreshing, thank you!
As someone who struggles with a smorgasbord of issues- ADD, depression, anxiety, panic attacks- this was SO relatable and also.. so encouraging. Our family is currently traveling full time while my husband works as a travel nurse and one of our main reasons was my depression… and it’s also one of the main reasons I’m pursuing my passions now that I have the opportunity. 🙌🏼. Real life blogs are so rare these days.
I'm glad you found it encouraging! And thank you for sharing that :) Maybe I'll do another video on how to manage your freelancing video around mental health issues
I loved watching this! It is so nice to see a human side to people. Everyone is battling a daily fight with something. I am no different. That is why I want to be a freelancer. I want to say bye to the office and do life on my terms while showing everyone I can succeed! Thank you!
Really appreciate the transparency Colleen! I relate to you with the anxiety and stress- on some days it's a lot worse, particularly if I'm feeling isolated. What always helps is to remind myself, like you said, that not all days have to be fully productive and I should take it easy. That sun lamp looks like a great idea- it can be dark in the mornings here in England too.
You have become my friend in my head 🤗 thank you for the realness. So many people hide who they are or their struggles & you chose not to. I know that day was tough for you, kudos for showing up anyways. I’m venturing into freelance writing soon & I too have mental health issues (which is a main reason I want to work for myself because corporate America stresses me to the MAX 😩) so to know that I can have a successful career as well makes me hopeful. Yep! Those tough days will still be there 😒 but being in control on my own time is key for my well-being. Best of luck to you 💚
Go girl. A real reality video. Just love it... Wish you quick recovery from the staff you are dealing with. We all have something and it is part of being human. Always love your energy. GREAT VIDEO 👍👍
Thank you so much for your bravery to share this with all of us. I’m also going through a depressing phase where I am just overwhelmed with everything that I over-committed to🤦♀️ and it just helps so much to know that it’s not just me going through something like this. 💙
Where's this been my whole journey?! I love this channel, and the transparency. Going to go through all the content that's (unbelievably!) available for free here!
I was literally just singing something to myself and thought I’m turning into Colleen 😄 I have been watching way too many of your videos. But it’s all good they are awesome 👍🏻
Thank you so much for this video! I always end the day feeling like I haven't done enough and that other freelancers must be doing more. Learning the truth helps so much!
First, love this video...no seriously! When you said "Time is an illusion, who cares", I genuinely chuckled. 😆 I appreciate the honesty with your personal struggles. I can definitely understand the anxiety part. 😒 Although it's gotten better after some much needed self love. Glad you're taking that step too! Have you tried laying off the caffeine a bit? Sometimes it can worsen anxiety.
Thanks for showing a day in your life. Can you please make videos like Live writing with me? So it would give Freelancers ideas of how to structure and come up with great content. You can choose any niche. Please 🙏
Hello I am new and I suffer from depression and anxiety as well and a Zelda Fan too. Love the disney cup. I am also a college student trying to work from home while I help a sick family member. What freelance websites do you recommend for college students?
I already had one assistant when I filmed this video. I hired another one in January, though we ended up changing her role so now it's still me answering all the emails and comments (hence why I am answering this 2 weeks later) :)
Thank you for sharing some BTS content. When you are doing the actual work for a client how do you submit the project to the client? Do you work directly on their website or submit another way. Also when helping with email marketing, social media posts, etc. how do you submit that type of work?
Hey Colleen!! I loved this video thanks for sharing! If you’re okay with sharing, what is the name of the manifestation journal that you mentioned using?
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Here is the link to the planner: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KZPHSSL/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=cfc02-20&linkId=78b5d69817fe20c57caa0276ea10da70&language=en_US I need to get another one myself, so thanks for reminded me!
Honestly I'm so stressed and afraid. This is my very first time in the world of freelancing. I had never heard of freelancing until last year and this year i had to look for profitable businesses and i was suggested to start freelancing. I did so many research, chose a skill, took a course and finished it successfully. Right now I feel so stuck. I never had any experience or work as a freelancer with anyone. I don't have a portfolio cuz for an obvious reason. I just feel like this won't work out for me.
It sounds like you need to work through some mental blocks in order to gain the confidence to freelance. It's not for everyone, but I'm a member of The Pathway from To Be Magnetic, and I've found it to be immensely helpful. I recommend checking out their podcast. Here's a good episode on what you're talking about: tobemagnetic.com/expanded-podcast/2021/191

I was actually thinking of doing a workshop or a mini course on how to write blog posts. Would you be interested in that?
@@colleenwelsch_ 💯% interested.

I don’t have specific recommendations for college students. Any advice I give could also apply to college students!
Was this filmed before you got your assistant? And did you find that helped?
I already had one assistant when I filmed this video. I hired another one in January, though we ended up changing her role so now it's still me answering all the emails and comments (hence why I am answering this 2 weeks later) :)
