Per-step trig propability for automatic variation and micro quantizing per-step for wonky grooves are features of the Octatrack that I absolutely love and hope this has! This seems very utilitarian, ergonomic and straightforward, Looks like a more playable version of the Erica Synths drum sequencer priced at 600$ and this looks to be under 200$.. Behringer does it again!
Well, I have to say Behringer has done it again. They made something very useful with a very very low cost and I’m a collector of sense or modular sense and I’m a big fan of Cwejman pretty much everything they ever made and Behringer is just undercutting all the competition…all of them.. they just Rock
I really need one! This would get all my trigger sequencing needs covered. However... I wouldn't use it primarily for triggering drums, but rather to substitute a static clock to rhythmically advance different CV sequencers like the Mimetic Digitalis or the 1027 and 1050 from the 2500 line. And to trigger envelopes to add rhythmic elements to a larger drone-like patch.
@@beatsbyjiro8291 Hi! I currently use my MIDI/CV interface for that. I've got a Hexinverter Mutant Brain and send different triggers via its gate outputs from my DAW.
If you're thinking "i don't want to buy another X voice modules for my individual drums!" Sound Force makes a LinnDrum single shot module for around $99 used that has everything you need in only 4hp. It's simply trigger in and audio out several times. What Behringer needs to do is simply mimic that module but make it so you can install your own samples on it with USB C. If they could add 1 or 2 tuning knobs and accent input, that would be amazing. And keep it less than 10 or 12 HP!
I wasn't aware of Sound Force. That looks like a cool module. For $199 they also have Samples II that lets you put any samples on a USB stick and switch between sets. ADDAC has some 8HP four voice drum synthesis modules too.
This will get my foot in the eurorack world! I just preordered it. When it lands i will think about what module to pair it with! Always loved the look of people messing with drum sequencer on euro rigs!
What's nice for drum sequencers are variable levels available in the trigger CV. IF there's enough amplitude to be detected by the receiving module great. But some variable above this threshold allows the trigger to be split and and used for modulation as well (like velocity).
@@jeremyformerlyknownastoken8218 size of module, omitted drum sounds of rd-9 hardware. It's just the sequencer part, you need other modules to make the sounds.
You are awesome. I always knew this company will go far, even in the 90’s with the cheap stuff I’d go buy because it’s all I could afford. I ❤️ Behringer
Man I have fully become a hardcore Behringer supporter over the last few years. I love my gray meanie 2600 and am looking forward to getting a UbXa later this year!
@@PatchDog Oh incredible, as someone who also owns a 16-voice Prophet Rev2 I love having the 2600 compliment it as my mono synth. Plus it taught me so much about synthesis that I didnt realize I didnt know!
@@mistalee9300 Awesome man. Rev2 and 2600 sound like a sweet combo. I haven't actually used a 2600 since I did the Behringer promo video for it like 4 years ago, need to get back on it soon. How's the spring Reverb tank sound on it?
@@PatchDog I actually really like they way they cut through each other. And the reverb is awesome, so dynamic. I also ran the 2600 through a Hologram Microcosm the other day and it was magical
@@mistalee9300 Damn, I already got goosebumps just thinking of that combo. The Hologram sounds epic. I did like the Digital Reverb on the 2600 when I demo'd it but very curious about the spring tank. Cheers for the feedback.
On preorder now. I am hoping it will get to Sweetwater before Christmas. I have a Model 15 on back order as well but that is delayed while they fix a manufacturing issue with a transistor in the sample and hold circuit. My studio is looking like a Behinger shop these days.
Looks like more design consideration was taken than the normal "good enough" rapid release approach. It's an amalgamation of Roland and Arturia, but doesn't look nearly as wrong/cheap as others from Behringer. ...and the ear pyramid is finally gone!
would be nice to get one that matches the linn drum aesthetics, because id actually get this to use with my real linn drum. would look nice sitting right next to it
They almost had me. I don't see note nudging yet. Micro-timing is everything for my workflow, and is indeed a deal breaker on any modern sequencer that doesn't have it. This thing looks awesome, other than that.
I would love something like this with drum samples built in or ability to import samples. I know that's not the point of this gear. But that'd be suhweeeet!
Please make a smaller eurorack module out of the syncussion with only one channel would be super awesome ❤ and please add cv control for all parameters
I love listening to the Purists dribbling on about whatever they're dribbling about... meanwhile Behringer provided me with a Poly D and OMG... I Dribbled ❤
I think I might get this anyway, but I'm curious the utility of the Accents. Would I be able to use that to change the pitch of an oscillator input by setting a step for an instrument and using the level knob in combination with that button? Is there also a step-by-step mode where it doesn't loop automatically?
Hi ! New to synths and all that moves music. How do you send drum sounds to de Sequencer? do you need other drum machine? Or can you use a Daw to do so? Thank you
unfortunately i'm not really familliar with modular setup and stuff but i started following channels like Hainbach, LookMumNoComputer, Flloyd Steingbberg, David Hillowitz and so, and as far as i can see this HW-Sequencer would be THE perfect head for a modular drumkit.... will it be realized?
Cheers man, it's a super simple riff on the TD-3-MO, you see me playing it in the outro too just with the filter further opened up. A TD-3 could easily make that sound aswell. Hope it helps, Patrick.
will the midi out have velocity per step? if so, this thing would be a great way to turn any 90s rack rompler/sampler into a full-featured drum machine
I really like the RD-9 and I really love the sequencer. But there's one thing that is missing on the RD-9, which also seems to be missing here and it is such a missed opportunity, especially for eurorack. There is no CV modulation (decent midi implementation on the RD-9). I would be ecstatic if I would be able to trigger the step repeat / note repeat from another sequencer or LFO. I would love to be able to affect pattern length through CV, mute and solo instruments. I would gladly sacrifice a bit more hp to have this incorporated in the module. Or perhaps, if you had the forethought, an expander module, which makes this possible. Inclusion of more eurorack cv connectivity would make this an instant buy for me.
Absolutely no need for one, but that device has a truly beautiful look and design.
Yes it was designer by Erica synth a famous eurorack brand
no need is not an excuse to not buy
Looks beautiful but underneath the front panel is just a $20 Arduino Nano, I bet. Eurorack = procrastination.
@@pinatacolada7986 I don’t think so otherwise that would have been the case on other modules from behringer.
