In case anyone else also ordered the clip and had a question since it was shipped in one piece. It doesn't slide on, so we have to remove the parts and then attach it as is shown in the video. Thanks for the instructions. Cool pen.
Timecodes 0:31 - Inking up the pen + general disassembly 2:43 - Fixing rotation of the nib 3:19 - Replacing the silicone seal 5:06 - Installing optional pen clip 7:16 - Removing optional pen clip Would have been nice to have a visual guide for replacing the nib, even though it is relatively straightforward.
Received mine as part of the kickstarter so ive been using it a lot, have had no problems and love it enough I've put my Vanishing point away so it doesn't just dry out. Wish I'd have ordered the clip.
At 4:06, you say make sure the "Concave" portion of the seal goes in first, but the video shows the seal with the bulge facing outward towards the pen tip. Wouldn't that be the "Convex" portion goes into the pen tip first then ?
I received my two pens yesterday! I ordered a fine and a medium because impulse control isn't my strong point. I love them. The medium wrote smoothly and beautifully out of the box. I'm having trouble with the Fine nib, though. It's very dry and prone to skipping on some strokes. If I hold the pen vertically to the paper, or press harder than normal it writes, but with a lot of feedback - it feels like a just-sharpened pencil. I haven't examined the nib under magnification yet or used micro mesh, but I tried Doug Rathbun's "7 steps to inky happiness" technique without much effect. I guess it's time to break out the microscope.
You really, REALLY should have included a link/QR code to this with the shipping instructions. The clip arrived in one piece with no instructions. Like many other people, I could not figure out how to install it and now have a scratched pen... Like, yeah, I get it, you're not going to give refund or new pen. But I can't think of a single other pen I've ordered - even cartridge pens! - that didn't come with instructions in the packaging!
Received today. Disappointing is the word. The button knob edges are really sharp, and mechanism very tight and slow to retract, and when actuating requiring very firm pressure by thumb which is not pleasant due to sharp machining finish of the button. Why not just make it round and smooth I wondered since the tread doesn’t really add any additional value. I’m hoping frequent use will loosen the mechanism but doesn’t make me want to pick it up often.
Yeah I still love the pen but notice same issues. There was a note in an update I think that the pen will be stiff at first. After a while the titanium will smooth out, and the rubber seal may loosen, so I have hope the action will improve. The knob is defo sharp. I may take some micro mesh or a needle file and smooth the edges out. Overall unique and well made pen though, especially for a v1.
@@rsinger2597 Agreed was very disappointed that my pen doesn't retract as smoothly (at all!) when I release the bolt mechanism. Nib just stays extended and I have to push the pen against the paper. Grr... any tips you've discovered?
@NavalBand I'm trying to figure out if rotating the nib or silicone seal may help... since the seal has 4 little flaps, the nib may slide easier if it's aligned with 1 flap instead of pushing in between 2. Not sure yet thoufh haha. I've been hoping the seal will loosen a bit, and metal smooth out a little, so the nib doesnt stick but not much improvement yet.
@@rsinger2597 i’m wondering whether a stronger spring might do the trick to push the nib back into the tube? Then I suppose it might be too strong for comfort when deploying the nib out.
@NavalBand yeah I thought of stretching the spring out a bit which would make it push harder, but that'll be the last resort since it's already fairly strong when extending the nib. Maybe I'll try cutting/stretching out the seal or boiling it or something to weaken it because the nib sticking there seems to be the main problem.

How long are the silicone seals expected to last?
This pen is an absolute work of art. Simple looks, stunningly beautiful.

When are these shipping out?
is this able to take ink cartridges as well?

Awesome, looks great! Also very cool the nib can rotate to the position you want.
Another fun ensso offering! My Italia Copper is still one of my favorite pens.
Thanks for this video. Look forward to the pen's delivery.
I love it. The video is great!! Looking forward to it’s arrival

When I retract mine, the feed retracts, but the non stays behind. Any tips?
Same thing happens to one of mine (the EF nib). I contacted them today 7/30 via one of the "contact us" links from their email.
DId you put the spring back in?
I put ink in mine and it now works fine. I guess it just needs lube.

eagerly waiting for mine to arrive... one confusion though, is the nib titanium too or steel ?
Steel.
