He said that he wanted to be a singer in the first place, and he was really into dancing while learning it. Then he joined some dancing crew and gradually became a backup dancer.
First get into a dancing studio and keep improving your dance skills. Record videos of your dance covers, practices, etc. Post them on sites that recruiters frequent visit. Join a dance team and go to competition cause again there might be recruiters scouting at competitions. Submit your dance videos to entertainment agency cause I'm sure they always looking to find skillful backup dancers for their current artist or a new group/artist that will be debuting in the future. In the end it's all about marketing yourself so that a recruiter might pick you out of all the other people who also want to be a backup dancer. It's not an easy task you definitely need to go above and beyond to beat out other competitors. Just keep trying!

Maybe dance gig from an audition has a director who knows someone in the kpop/jpop industry. Just make sure you always updating your portfolio and have videos of your dance covers ready to go whenever a chance arise. Good luck!
